Of all things, a Touhou 1 reference was the last thing I expected. It's a really good surprise, with an already awesome boss fight. It's also kinda sad that fans make more references to the first five Touhou games then Zun.
I know right! I would love for characters like Yumemi and Mima to get more love. A lot of the PC-98 characters are super unique design-wise and seeing them in fan games is always a nice surprise.
The cherry on top for that reference is that her PC98 design phases in and out of existence. It's like she's using her power of reality bending to summon the version of her from that reality to perform the attack.
I seriously wasn't prepared for how hard some of the arrangements in this game go. I've heard many versions of this theme and this might actually be the coolest.
For first phase, just jump over the first 2 fireballs and use 1000 Knives mid air and you'll get graze on all of them while doing loads of damage because of the invincibility on 1000 Knives outlasting the rest of the move. Most of the fireball attacks in the fight can be cheesed entirely by 1000 Knives.

i think i beat this boss when i was a little below level 30, i didn’t know thousand knives was so op so i just didn’t use any skills AT ALL, and it took me like half the day to learn all her moves 😪😪 THEN SHE HAD A SECOND PHASE so i just quit for the night then i beat her the next day, i think the only move that caught me off guard was the giant yin yang balls shooting cards and being blocked by little yin yang balls attack, super fun boss to do without spamming a move that makes you invulnerable!
Sakuya goes through so much trouble getting through the first phase. Sakuya: "Phew, that was tough, glad it's over- WAIT WHAT!?" Turns out Reimu had an extra life.
Fun fact: if you use thousand daggers during the fire yin yang orb shpoting attack at the right time you van get a free mp and hp recovery from the ammount of graze it provides

cheese strat for dis boss: use stun knife in the first form, slow down time everytime you can and stun knife spam for second form: change to chainsaw and stop the time while she summons the cards, spam chainsaw and time stop until the cards are gone, slowdown + chainsaw, c h a i n s a w, in the yin yang spam bullet hell spam time stop and chainsaw and before lowering her health at a really low point try to defeat her ASAP before she uses red card thingie and yeets you
