The game recently received it's last update, which added extra stage, Reimu boss fight, achievements and new ability to dash, which you can find somewhere in the new area. The release date could've been better, since I was busy with Cadence of Hyrule and now Bloodstained, but luckily it didn't take me too long to record this video.
Reimu is not too hard, but she has a significant amount of health, and without using skills, it takes some time to defeat her. This boss has some interesting attacks. Her paper amulets won't hurt you, instead they make you freeze and leave you vulnerable for a while. During the second phase, part of her attacks also pull you closer to her, which is especially bad with all the green projectiles around. And her first attack of the second phase is an Arkanoid, which is a reference to the very first Touhou game. Overall, I really like this new boss.
What I don't like is the dash ability, which is activated by double pressing the arrow buttons. Not only that's inconvenient, it is also easy to start dashing by accident and bump into attack. Hopefully they'll fix this.

Considering she never uses this power except for here, this shows that Reimu never takes her fights seriously. That's got terrifying implications about how powerful Reimu really is
outside of the PC98 introduction to the touhou series that is.

The details in this game are amazing. Reimu keep phasing in to PC-98 version while using some attack.

And the attack that she was using is itself a reference to the PC-98 Touhou games, which had that kind of Arkanoid style of gameplay (see TH01 - Highly Responsive to Prayer). It wasn't until the 2nd game, Eastern Wonderland, that the series took the danmaku format.
It's because the people behind this game actually care about making a good game for the fans.

It's actually confirmed that all of the fairies get paid (they only joined for a salary after all) according to an official advertisement made for the mansion.

Funny thing is Reimu did not train as incredibly hard, while marisa who was a normal human did a massive ammount of work so she could be a human magician and can rival reimu. Though she loses more often she also wins against her multiple times.

it's basically 1 vs 6-7 ppl in other game, so they need to adjust their power, and manage to not exhausted before the problem solved, not to mention there's also stage to pass by before facing the boss, while the boss just sitting duck waiting reimu to come, that's just my theory tho
I guess that’s a decent explanation? Though you do use your own spellcards during runs, those are your bombs. So it’s more equivalent to spamming nons then spacing out the power of your spell cards.

Just noticed that in Reimus second phase she switches back and forth between her current look and to her original shrine maiden outfit. It’s more apparent during the first cards attack.
So much work went into this game... I LOVE EVERY PIXEL OF IT. AND I WANT TO PLAY IT.

I really love this Boss, as Reimu using the gameplay from Highly Responsive to Prayers in her second phase and switching to a mirage of her PC-98 design is a cool detail.
Is still funny how everybody decides to leave by flying, while accidentally forgetting that Sakuya's powers are still sealed, which makes her unable to fly.
