I follow several HVAC techs and experts. It’s interesting to see the different mindsets and different ways of accomplishing a task. When I found this channel I must of done a marathon through all the videos. I’m an overly certified systems administrator. And I deal with electronics myself but from a computer perspective and it’s fun to see certain similarities. All I have to say is everyone has their own ways of doing things and none are wrong. Learning about HVAC systems allowed me to under stand air conditioners, chillers, refrigerators, etc and how they work. Feels like I could almost run off and easily get certified in the field I’ve learned so much. But that industry isn’t for me. High respect for all who work in this industry. Does not appear to be anything easy at all. Appreciate the work you all do!
Thanks so much bud! I will be going live on TH-cam this evening 3/23/20 @ 5:PM (pacific time) to discuss my most recent uploads, talk about how I am handling this chaos, answer TH-cam questions and comments and talk with the livechat, come check it out if you can if you can’t catch it live no worries as it will post as a normal video on my channel after its over. th-cam.com/video/spHHodnX9S8/w-d-xo.html
I laughed when you said the sensors have a high failure rate. That must be why the manufacturers keep using more sensors so technicians can fix their junk.

I work in industrial low temp a lot and its typical for the fans to shut off during defrost to prevent water spray problems. Almost everything Ive ever worked on turns the fans off during the defrost cycle for that reason.
Usually coolers that have a design box temp of 34 or above do not have any means of defrost other than off cycle or scheduled off cycle defrosts where the fans stay running so the air can circulate through the coil and defrost it.
@@coreysayre9885 Yeah I know. I worked at the boars head warehouse in Brisbane and their system was designed that way. Those mid temp coils are specifically designed for that (usually larger fin spacing). I have a warehouse in SSF that has electric defrost in the +34 room. The coils output 22 deg.
@@coreysayre9885 That, room size BTU absorption. I think those coils could be run without an electric defrost if they closed the doors. They refuse to do it though so I have to manually defrost everything every 3 months. Never skimp on insulation and doors. Your equipment will last a lot longer.

On those delfield coolers, I like to hot wire the evaporator fan motors so they’re on all the time as they do have issues of icing up and not just because of the sensors

That makes sense, Evap TD/suction saturation and fin spacing plays a big part In whether extra heat is necessary for defrost when it comes to coolers

Same, they always tend to stack items in front of fans so causes air flow issues. 👍🏽
Your videos are incredibly helpful to me. I run my company more like you.

I love your videos!
Yeah I was bout to say, most of the time fans shut down during defrost to not heat the product.
You have the parts numbers for the sensors?
Have you ever tried a steamer for defrosting. Also try a angle drill driver they work great for furnace and appliance work.
Hvac 1 they have angle drill adapters. Milwaukee’s is $20 get the metal one if you can find it. The plastic covered model is too big for our type of work. Also a steamer will make your life easier.

Fans don’t usually stay on unless it’s air defrost. Did that have a heater or bypass gas defrost?
So it is air defrost which would make sense because it is a mid temp application. Just looked up a manual, never worked on one of these, at least not yet.
I've never heard of "Jesus clips" until now. Very appropriate lol

That's the condenser coil.
Is that a r-290 system? 😱
