I've been watching you for a while now. I've thanked you many times, but never really supported you for all the work you do, and all the knowledge I get, so here you go. It's not much, but I so appreciate you, and all the quality work you do, and setting the example.
Customer is back to full operation, delay in getting replacement equipment has been mitigated, and you get an opportunity to teach a less-frequently encountered issue. Win all around!
I no longer work on restaurant refrigeration, and I remember that restaurant chain like it was yesterday. In my area I replaced give or take 20 of those evaporators. I’ve only had two coils that were oil logged. Good work and good video!
Would have been cool to try "servicing" the TXV on the old evaporators afterwards. No, not to repair them (they are more than done for, hence the quotes), but to see if something would have failed had you actually attempted to replace the power head or the TXV (instead of the entire evaporator). Keep up the great work!
I wonder if the health inspectors ever take those drawers out to inspect units they would generate an instant closure over here if they saw that disgusting
Chris I think you were right in the first place, the bad power assembly caused the refrigerant flow rate through the evaporator to become so slow that the evaporator filled with oil and didn't return it..
I will discuss this live on TH-cam this evening 10/30/23 @ 5:PM (pacific) come on over and check it out, no worries if you can’t make it live as the stream will post as a video on my channel afterwards th-cam.com/users/livecIVWzFvST48?si=bNsUIEcuhyilNlag
Spoiler or spoiled food 😎 great video, I’ll keep the oil log in mind! But really it’s amazing how many restaurants or grocery stores do not clean where their food is stored, even when they see it. At least 80% of the restaurants or grocery stores I’ve serviced I won’t eat at, and some are popular. It made learn how to cook alot more since getting into refrigeration work 😂
@@adamdnewman I’m weird and It seems a little much, buts it’s different when your swimming in it 😅 uncovered food that’s stored in a warm cooler, and is still served… no thanks!
If you had suspected the cold rail was oil logged when you were preparing to reconnect it back to the onboard compressor, do you think you could have reasonably blown out the trapped oil before it would get a chance to migrate to the box evaporators, or was this inevitable?

Can you test for oil clogging? Such as opening the system and blowing out with the evap connected, or not really? Excited to see the next home install video you mentioned at the end :)

Sorry Chris, i have a confession for you. I watch the video until you say "I really do appreciate you making it to the end of the video." So if you give me spoilers before that point, i will be properly spoiled (but loved). However if you have any information or news that is important, please say that before it. Cheers.
So Chris, you wanna tell us how much you love sand? lol i had to dude. Then again i was tempted to send you a bag of sandbox sand with a funny note I'm sure you'd get the joke pretty quick my friend.
Ever run into changing a power head a doing final sweat a copper open up a you un sweat cut back an re sweat an?? Happens again an your regretting you even tried to repair. 😅😅 an then you wind up in the end ordering all new like you did why did I even attempt it because I was trying to save the customer some money in the end it just bit me in the ass (edited fur a small spell boo boo)
My like just made this post 1K. Sa-bu-son, went on a side job after work, this guy had a 5 ton , with a 120 btu furnace in a 1200 sq ft home. His basement flooded up to the gas valve, I quoted him for a proper system. He wanted it rebuilt, with that shitty honeywell smart valve, board, blower. No way am I getting married to that job.
I see you still have not learned how to solder copper. Also, why didn’t you have the restaurant or you with a steam cleaner get in there and steam all that crap on the walls, floor and stuff. That would’ve been the perfect time to do it.
BRAZE not solder. A good tech like Chris is getting paid to fix expensive equipment, and clean the expensive coils for proper operation. Not steam clean the walls that every employee looks at when they open the door. Restaurant employees are required to have food handler cards for the cleanliness, safe handling and storage of their food, so cleaning the mold in the fridge is definitely suppose to be on their to do list, not the tech.

Happy to.

This is one of your videos that is really pleasing visually.

I sure wish you'd do longer videos. These shorts are always leaving me wanting to see more.
I’m legit working on this exact system right now!!! So this video is perfect as I’m waiting for temp to go down
Your Experience and Technical Abilities are Off the Charts, Solid. 🤔👍🙏
I will never work in heating/cooling but these videos are just so interesting lol
I wonder if the health inspectors ever take those drawers out to inspect units they would generate an instant closure over here if they saw that disgusting
My thoughts exactly.
Nope they never look up there
Most health inspections don't do much, need Larry (Danie Whitney) to teach them how it's done 😂
health inspectors are kind of like general managers, they dont really help with anything just annoy people XD
They don't look under friers in fast food chains either. Alot nastier than that box.
man I'd take 5 minutes to wipe the inside of that box clean before putting myself and tools in there
I like your videos.
Thank you very much.

Howdy from Sacramento! I am not in HVAC at all except as an end user, but I am fascinated by your vids. Thanks for sharing!
Good job Chris.

If the general public knew they would be surprised and bothered but not enough to stop eating/ shopping there 😂

What a nasty mess in there - holy cow - but great work!!!
yeah, I'd defo hire you to design and install my AC systems hehe
Do you do hotside equipment or just coldside.
you didn't increase amperage on the compressor when you did that?
Hi chris love the videos
Man close call with that oil in the suction line! Ha ha!

Big picture, Truetech tools. 😊
What was that stuff that shot out of the pipe and nearly hit you ?
Refrigerant oil

At least that box's floor wasn't soaked in raw chicken juice!
Don't worry only a few of us have the 76 degree inside baseball
When I saw that box I expected cockroaches to start moving around all over.
Satisfied WITH your two ton computer running ? WOW !
at least it wasn't "Terrible Excuse Virulence".
almost got the money shot
You'd be crazy not to watch til the end on every video 🤷
. . . open the garage door
Cheese and rice u keep your stat at 76 degrees? That's friggin hot dude😂72 or less lol
When you work in the heat most of the time, you get used to the heat.

The most stupid design cooler ever. Hate those.

Whats wrong with how he solders copper?
Restaurants do not want to pay for extra things like steam cleaning, they rarely even do an extensive cleaning on anything.
If you owned a restaurant, would you pay someone over a hundred bucks an hour to clean your reach in for you? Are you a real person with a brain?

You have apparently never dealt with restaurants (employees, managers, owners, etc) they will do the minimum, spend the minimum ALWAYS!
