@Aaaa true but reading such history might actually sometimes make us predict what our leaders will do in the future. See, even though it was monarchy back in those days, it isn't much different from a political party with a lot of majority. So what kings did back then, the PMs of our country will do now (I mean, on a global scale like foreign relations and all)

I've been to Gangtok twice (I'm a Bengali from Kolkata) because of my Marwari classmate (who has been living in Sikkim for 4 generations) who told me this same story in great detail. Not only is Sikkim very clean and efficient, the people are also very polite and proud of their state and the awards it wins regularly. Nort East India is so incredibly diverse and their cultural identity is so unique, we should really teach our kids less about Europe and more about our own people in our history books!

At times I think the politicians today have it easy. When you look at the kind of situations politician like nehru, Indira Gandhi and sardar Patel had to resolve. The grit needed to take strong decisions is just absent in the leaders today, the leaders today (from every political party) are more into playing their own flute for the smallest things than solving real problems. They view construction of roads and hospitals as their achievements rather than their duty. Have you ever seen politicians from new zealand/USA/UK talk about constructing roads and shit?

It's interesting to know how history is never true and palindrome. Everyone has their different opinions about the same incident based on their perspective. Being a Nepalese, I have heard different story about this incident. I have some Bhutanese friends as well and interestingly they have different view. I always wanted to know indian perspective. Whatever be the incident it doesn't matter now, but knowing different perspective is interesting. Thank you Soch team for this video.
@Aaaa true but reading such history might actually sometimes make us predict what our leaders will do in the future. See, even though it was monarchy back in those days, it isn't much different from a political party with a lot of majority. So what kings did back then, the PMs of our country will do now (I mean, on a global scale like foreign relations and all)
Same to you. Even we Nepalese people have different perspective and story about this incident.

Yup this and Myanmar Coup. One of the best videos here.

True
Limbus and Nepalese are not different.. Limbus are one of the main and biggest ethinic groups of nepal who are spread over eastern region of Nepal and also in sikkim and darjeling, . Even Lepcha are found living in Nepal for many centuries thats why we can find very old monasteries of lepchas in illam and surrounding districts of Nepal. Their numbers are like very few nowadays in Nepal unlike sikkim but they were once living in nepal aswell and Bhutia are majorities in sikkim but they are found in Nepal aswell although they are very few.. Limbus are people who worshipp kirant religion whereas lepcha and Bhutia were Buddhist sharing similar culture, language , dress as in Tibet and Bhutan

Im from sikkim and my grandfather was one of the people who overseed the local election and i once asked his about the topic and he said that there were Indian troops stationed near the voting box and whenever someone went near the kings voting box the soilders would stare at them.
One of my friends grandfather had to escape to nepal because he supported the king( note* there was a bounty on his head)
But it was a good thing sikkim merged with india...the economy grew and we still have our rights ( i mean if we had stayed independent any longer china would have attacked us (also i would not have been born xd) and we would have ended up like tibet)
@Yss D stop worrying about Nepal. How many time we Nepalese have to tell you delulus that don't speak unless you have proof? Plus you can clearly understand from this video that india government is the one we should not trust. You are wolf in a sheeps cloth. If we trust india too much we will end up like sikkim
@Yss D in what scenario Nepal will take China help? To fight with ind? There’s and in ur que dhoti, it’s ind with whom Nepal should be protected first. From killing our king to slow pace of development, ind have played vital role. Ind can’t bear 🇳🇵 progress
