They should call a jury. Let a common jury finally sit in judgement on this case and on the previous rulings of government magistrates. Let the people in a democracy decide important law. For all we know magistrates were briefed on all their findings by government. How do we know that ridiculous question of execution when a sentence of 175 years is bandied about isn't a way out of the extradition and a jury trial in the US? Because juries are notorious for making just rulings. The DOJ have no case whatsoever, and are probably terrified of the case going before a jury they cannot pick, who they cannot compromise and will likely rule according to the evidence? If that happened it would put press freedom to publish truth as a precedent freeing all journalists around the world to publish truth unfettered. And for that reason, these two magistrates must call a jury to hear the case and judge it according to commonwealth law. The Australian government should strongly oppose extradition
I hope the "high court" judges realize that our collective "humanity", decency, and freedom as a "civil" society is on trial here - not merely Julian Assange's right to free or protected political speech. There's not very much that separates modern western society from fascist dictatorships like Russia, China, and North Korea these days. If free speech in the press or "unfavorable" political speech is made a crime, then there is absolutely nothing that separates us from the fascists.
