6:43 probably any solution is going to have it's own pros and cons, but one thing you could try is adding a "track-to" constraint for the eye to track to camera. A way to mitigate the clipping issue could be to render in passes. Because you’re not rendering in real time, it shouldn’t be too difficult to do something like that. Blender has a really nice compositing tool; the main hurtle would be to create the mask. My recommendation would to make a separate black and white model with the same rig. If there are better ways to create that alpha, definitely use that method instead because this is not the greatest solution.
This channel is such a diamond in the rough! I cannot wait to see you grow as a creator! You got such a soothing presentation and amazing understanding of 3D modeling!
I really liked that you managed to create a model that was more faithful and "pure" to the anime, it even surpasses the official one used in games like Digimon Master Online, excellent work, super free, what more could you ask for in life :3
2:09 Yeaah, THAT struggle. Ha-ha! I enjoy seeing all the love this character receives from fans but, honestly, I simply cannot find more "official" references for Renamon without resorting to re-watching the show. I dunno, perhaps Bandai/Toei ain't sharing 'em enough? I noticed even the artists illustrating for the official Trading Card game have given this character a less cartoony and more curvy figure, with shapely proportions. I'm not complaining at all, however! It's fine, the design will change as Renamon remains popular amongst folks... Anyway, I think you *nailed* her look and movement here! This was such a CUTE (5:48 Yesss!) and well executed video! Excellent job!
I agree! So damn hard to find the good reference! But i'm just happy that digimon franchise is still alive thanks to fans. Also thanks, glad you enjoyed the video!
True to the source and it looks amazing! I love these in depth and behind the scenes sorta delvings, especially in the style you have! Helps make blender and even animating feel more approachable as a newbie hehe. Awesome work mate!
"Don't get weird with it" famous last words What a lovely video, very interesting, such a charming feel from the characters, to the expressions, the whole video just embodies passion for the craft. Incredible work :D
0:35 felyne icon spotted on the chair, my monster hunter brainrot refused to let me miss it my guess is definitely that guilmon is the next rig excited to see more stuff from ya :]
Thank you for mentioning poses, I don't think enough artists are talking about the importance of posture and how it can do a lot to bring out a character from an otherwise lifeless rig.
honestly it was refreshing to see your re topology actually shown. so often that's something that is just skipped in videos like this but it was actually really good seeing how you did it as the way i have been doing so is bulky and cumbersome with very subpar results
Canon creation of a digital monster. What a great watch! it's so bizarre , it feels like a video from a channel thats been doing this for years and years, and has already perfected their style and ironed out the kinks of video production. Totally thought you pulled a model+rig from somewhere else, mindblowing this was from scratch the whole time. Even though its just a time lapse and small breakdown of making a 3d model, wasn't bored for a second. You've got great pacing. Genuinely so happy you decided to start making stuff for the public, its gonna be great seeing whatever comes next. (it's Guilmon)
Hello there, fellow. I am asking a question directly to you. Maybe you won't have a clear answer, but your answer may give me ideas how to tackle my issue: Just as him, I am working on a channel with stylized animation, namely limited framerate. Do you possibly know, if there is a way inside Blender, to dynamically change the framerate along an animation? I need to jump around all over the place, animate something in 15fps, then animating a bit at half, than maybe a bit at 30fps, it makes things tough and tedious. Later I render everything as PNGs and have to re-evaluate the framerate in video software to make everything looks as intended. Results are optimal, but it is a long process and I would like to speed it up if possible. I know animation is complex, but I have the feeling, in my case there would be far less complexity needed.
Guilmon card on the table, Duke/Gallantmon sprite in the old school digivice, Takato's red D3, Guilmon sticker under the tv, Guilmon drawing on Renamon's book, and Guilmon's hazard symbol on the back of your phone. That's all I spotted. Well, I saw plenty more, but the one with the most was Guilmon.
i am absolutely OBSESSED with your work! genuinely amazing, cute avatar, lovely editing, and a nice voice! im currently in my learning stage where i have learned maya, blender, substance and more.i have created, and rigged and animated. im currently learning zbrush and finding videos like these continue to inspire me like insane! thank you for your work to keep all of creatives inspired.
Wow those are some high praise! Words like yours motivates me more! Good luck on learning 3D! Even if we get some technical issues every now and then, it's really fun actually!
1:55 Reminds me of when I made a Renamon deck in the TCG and I wanted to get a Renamon playmat to match it. It took um. Quite a bit of searching to find one that stuck to her original design. As an aside, the TCG can also be a decent resource for references! Especially for Digimon that aren’t very prominent in the anime or fanart (or in the case of Renamon, Digimon whose fanart often takes ‘creative liberties’ with the design).
No notes. This was an incredibly polished video, and holy cow the amount of animation you fit into this with the amount of time you took to make it is impressive. All around great job!
As someone with ADHD, your voice is very nice to listen to. That was probably the biggest factor to me listening to the video. Also nice to always see some Digimon tamer's love. If you ever get to Guilmon I'll be curious to see what you do with him xD
Respects for you for making a faithful model from the series, its really good to see there are some creators that are not only focused on making nsfw models
1:55-2:08 Yeah, that's one of reasons why I clicked in the first place. Because ALL I KNEW ABOUT IT WAS: Thick yellow fox with huge ass and all that. And I found your video (Weirdly enough) on some "Green" site. And I found out that you had a YT channel. So yeah, I'm staying :>
DUDE YOUR RENAMON MODEL LOOKS SO GOOD!!! as a digimon fan i'm so happy to see this sort of stuff and can't wait for the next model!!!! also, i'm pretty sure i saw 7 hints towards guilmon and i'm so EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!
It's no stretch to say that my life would be unrecognizably different if Digimon had not become a part of it all those years ago. I love the partner idea, I love the designs, and I absolutely love how well you've represented Renamon from her original design, realized into 3D. A lot of work has clearly gone into giving her a lot of character, and while I won't deny being fond of all the different takes the internet has had for her over the years, I really, truly appreciate your dedication to her original form and charactrization. Cannot WAIT to see what I suspect will be Guilmon, since he's a big, happy, expressive boy and I love him too! Also, thanks for sharing the process! This was a lot of fun to watch, and you are a delight to listen to! Good luck going forward!!!
Yeah digimon franchise might be growing really slow these days. It's still alive today thanks to fans like you and me. I'm happy that we are still caring and loving this franchise. Thank you for kind words, they do motivate me to make my next videos! Guilmon huh... its a good observation 😁
She's so cuute! :3 I've seen a lot of Guilmon hints. From the picture on the card to the digital hazard symbol on your smartphone. I think it's going to be him!
The fact that I knew about your channel thanks to TH-cam recommending me your Renamon video. It's so refreshing to see Renamon animation that's SFW, and your model really true to its original source. Now, if you want to create a Pokemon model, be careful when looking the model for Gradevoir, Lucario, and Braixen, a lots of NSFW just like Renamon. I also want to see other Digimon, maybe like Pegasusmon, Terriermon, or Garurumon. Hope you the best, and be a rising star on TH-cam!
I feel like Lucario wouldn't be *as* problematic as Braixen or Gardevoir when it comes to looking for references due to how it's treated as a blank slate in nsfw. Easy to forget that canonically, Gardevoir is rail thin and bug-eyed, and Braixen is built like a child.
Guilmon is also cool imo but Renamon really is the coolest! Also i LOOOOVE your little character SO MUUUUUCH!! Such a cute model!! AND YOU MADE THE RENAMON RIG FREE?!?! WHY ARE YOU SO NICE AND COOL
Simple. He's a man of passion. Passion is a rare value these days, so I am also glad I stubled over him. The TH-cam algorithm did well this time. He doesn't want to squeeze money out of everything he does, he primarily wants his interests to be seen. I am very much the same, I also have a polished animated show in the works, that will take me forever to release @___@
I did not see any hints. But I will blindly guess Gilmon because cute. I am really enjoying the stop-motion style you use for animation. I can already get a feel for your style of models and animation.
Awesome! I can see you have truly worked to learn alot of skills. Ive been working on 3d models for 4 years now and I can't say I know half of what you know!
Thank you! Learning those skills took loong time. Please don't get discouraged because of me 😔 I still need to learn lots of stuff, we should keep learning!
I hear you. I am similar to him, working on a polished, fully animated show. But I took way too long gathering those skills, I have started with Blender in 2016 with version 2.78........... It was also a question, what I want to do with those skills. And once I found out, what I actually do want to do, I have sat down and worked like a madman to get to the point, where I need to be for working out a show of my own. I am certain, this show will also blast away people - but it's still a long way to go. Over 10 minutes of very elaborate animation and I am not even sure, if I can release it within this year. But well, I gotta do a full time job, so that explains something.......
Very informative! As a hobby artist myself, I find these sorts of videos helpful, entertaining as well as allowing me to learn something I did not already know about 3D modeling. You speak clearly and the pacing as far as the story goes for your video kept my interest.
Clicked instantly when I saw the title and thumbnail! Now I wanna make a Renamon OC! Such an awesome Digimon! Already made a Gammamon one 😁 called the lil fella Sam the Gammamon or Sam the Gam for short 😅
As a guy completely foreign to any concept relating 3D Modeling except from some Tinkercad stuff I did in high school, the sound effects, the lipsync, the movements, and the incredible design of both Renamon and your own character made me want to get into it again. Srlsly, you're an incredible artist.
I actually used a Renamon in my first playthrough of Cyber Sleuth, I named her HeavenStairs in reference to the song Stairway To Heaven by Led Zeppelin and it would be a cool thing to make my own Renamon. Great viedo man keep it up!!
this video just gave me soo much motivation to continue learning animation, I already know basics for sculpting, retopo, rigging UV and texturing but animating is something I am just getting into and I am soo glad I stumbled onto your channel

I love the casual vibe of the video! It made the process very digestible and approachable! I plan to start learning modeling in blender soon so seeing the more general steps laid out so well was very welcoming to see!
Okay, I could spend a long time praising how good your animation is and how well you match it to your voices and how you have a clear vision - but honestly, what I love about this is how much joy you seem to ooze at all times? Like, just watching this brightens my day with your positivity. Never stop being awesome!
As a current college student studying Japanese language, I enjoyed hearing what renamon was saying even though I have very basic knowledge of the language!
She's a literal fox, foxes are to be loved. People are nothing like into all that stuff, they also have a soft spot for foxes. They are just..... appealing.
im not entirely sure what to say, i loved the original animation and seeing how it goes together was a big "this is pretty cool moment" the deliberate low frame-rate look was really easy on the eyes as well.
Renamon's voice is medicine to my soul, cannot get enough Renamon content. Terriormon is not far behind, and luckily Terriormon can also be found in Cowboy Bebop as Ed, but alas this is not the case for Renamon. le sigh
6:36 can't you just use a blue ball with it's normals inverted with a black ball inside, maybe also turn off shading with it's self so it doesn't look strange
I keep coming back to watching this video, because it's simply so well made and oozing with personality. A true joy and you started your channel the best way possible. Also it's fun to find tiny little rendering errors, of which there aren't many. Anyway, now knowing this video very well, I can give feedback on 2 points: 1) Your question about Renamon's eyes: If you don't know good solutions by yourself yet, here is how I would do that: Have the pupils as their own objects and give them a "track to" modifier, selecting the camera as tracking object. This way, they are always facing the camera and looking round, as intended. Rotation inside the eye socket isn't so easy, since those are eyes with very odd and uneven shapes. In case of my character with normal eyes, I created 2 common eyeballs and gave them a "copy rotation" modifier, where they copy the rotation of a single eye control bone, which I positioned over the head. But since 2 identically moving eyes may look off with a stylized character, I also added "limit rotation" modifiers to both eyes, so that they can only rotate to their respective edges. So I can move the control bone further, but each eye will not exceed the position, where it's still looking alright. This means, that one eye often stops, while the other is still rotating, but with stylized animation with very few frames, you never see that. 2) I would suggest, you add a little bot of nose shine to your fox. Without it, the nose looks...... flat and like plastic. I am not sure if I see some very subtle shine there, but it's probably the normal shader. I achieved some very nice nose shine with my fox with a simple black and white texture, set the "texture coordinate" to reflection and added a vector mapping node so that it looks as good as possible from all sides. Very much looking forward to your future projects. Oh one more question: How long did you take for the entire production of this video? I am currently producing my first video, and it really takes forever. That episode will be over 10 minutes, and granted, a lot of crazy stuff is going on there, that requires many new little assets, specialized animation and the like, but still it feels like I take way too long. I am not sure if I can start my new channel within this year.
Thanks a lot! 1) i fixed it with sphere inside sphere with normals flipped, the video "Renamon Eye test" was to show it off. Thanks for suggestion though 2) Hmm that's interesting, i can try it and see if i like it or not My answer to your question - it took me i think 2 or 3 weeks. There were lot of mistakes, unknown stuff to learn about. i hope i can do it faster in the future, but full time job just stands in a way haha. Solo animation creation is indeed hard, but i think it's worth it!
@@Nukorio Oh yeah it's definately worth it. We are creating things, that a few decades ago, only entire teams could make. It is a thing of passion, and if the passion is there, time is not so important. I also need to deal with a full time job, I guess we both are hoping, personal animation could be a career. I am absolutely sure, people will love my first episode once it's there. But it's a long way to go. But it's not only a primary video thing. Should the personal animation career fail, we could use those animations to apply for various creative jobs in the field of animation, storytelling and voice work. So to me, there is no alternative but to pour my soul into my animation. I just guess you might have a better animation setup than me. Many things are clunky and take a long time, but also there is the thing, that may animation isn't finished only by rendering out of Blender. I have quite a bit of post processing to do. Honestly, it is quite a joy talking to you, because I think, we are like-minded people. I have the idea, that maybe we could collaborate a little in the future, and to make this easier, would it be possible to catch you on an instant messenger? I would really like somebody to exchange thoughts, ideas and techniques with, because sadly, I have nobody physically around me, who is doing animation in any way. I am a couple minutes into my elaborate animation, and I would totally show you that, I don't want to make it public before the actual new channel, which is why there is no progress on this unimportant channel of mine right here. And hey, we both use foxes, they are supposed to appear on screen together at some point. =) If you are willing to communicate on Discord or Telegram, let me know and I can set up a temporary e-mail adress for data secrurity, where you can tell me about your DM.

The first one is immediately what I thought, the 2nd one seems spicy. Hope he sees this
My idea was to make it a sphere and set the material to project from camera so it achieves pretty much the same thing.
@@kaksspl I thought of suggesting it too, but if the eye socket is not deep enough it could cause issues and clip with the inner-head
@@kaksspl ah nvm, your suggestion is slightly different, I was thinking of inverted shell models my bad haha
I love how expressive the fox avatar is ❤
This channel is such a diamond in the rough! I cannot wait to see you grow as a creator! You got such a soothing presentation and amazing understanding of 3D modeling!
Hey your that guy who screams into a microphone! 🗣️
Thank you for kind words! i really appreciate it! 🥰
I really liked that you managed to create a model that was more faithful and "pure" to the anime, it even surpasses the official one used in games like Digimon Master Online, excellent work, super free, what more could you ask for in life :3
Aww thank you SO much for kind words!
1:55 - "Welcome to the Internet" by Bo Burnham starts playing...
Welcome to the internet indeed
Perfect timing
Welcome to the internet
I'm afraid I must inform
That a majority of it
Is just Renamon Porn.
Right ear = "Welcome to the Internet"
Left ear = "Welcome to 3D Software"
Slightly offset, on a loop.
True to the source and it looks amazing! I love these in depth and behind the scenes sorta delvings, especially in the style you have! Helps make blender and even animating feel more approachable as a newbie hehe.
Awesome work mate!
0:16 Fun fact : In german its a he (male voice actor).
i've heard about it! it's funny because she(jap dun) confirms in show that digimons have no gender 😅
Which made things a BIT weird later on, when it came to Sakuyamon...
@@Blazieth i never thought about that as a kid. till today i can only see him as a male character.
"Don't get weird with it" famous last words
What a lovely video, very interesting, such a charming feel from the characters, to the expressions, the whole video just embodies passion for the craft.
Incredible work :D
Haha, it might be or might not be, we'll see in future! Thank you for enjoying my craft 🥰
It's really not like there is a lack of less wholesome Renamon models you can probably do weirder stuff easier with on VR chat.
0:35 felyne icon spotted on the chair, my monster hunter brainrot refused to let me miss it
my guess is definitely that guilmon is the next rig
excited to see more stuff from ya :]
Thank you, and that was indeed palico from monster hunter! I'm a big fan of that franchise
As someone wanting to mess with blender more, seeing stuff like this is very inspirational. Can't wait to see more from you!
Degenerate.
(it's Guilmon)
as a "trained 3d specialist" who might be training 3d specialists in the future, I'm saving this video to show to my students
Hello there, fellow.
I am asking a question directly to you. Maybe you won't have a clear answer, but your answer may give me ideas how to tackle my issue:
Just as him, I am working on a channel with stylized animation, namely limited framerate.
Repr furry.
It's the likely guess. Although, there sure were a lot of censored Impmons...
You missed veemon at 1:50 running across the shelf above the banana.
@@GrumpyWolfTechthere's way more than that in there, I just only stuck to listing the mon I saw the most. Veemon is from Adventure 2.
I bet you're right, I'm betting on you kid!
i am absolutely OBSESSED with your work! genuinely amazing, cute avatar, lovely editing, and a nice voice! im currently in my learning stage where i have learned maya, blender, substance and more.i have created, and rigged and animated. im currently learning zbrush and finding videos like these continue to inspire me like insane! thank you for your work to keep all of creatives inspired.
As someone who is just beginning this was a great video to watch!
No notes. This was an incredibly polished video, and holy cow the amount of animation you fit into this with the amount of time you took to make it is impressive. All around great job!
I'm so glad artists like you exist! ☺️
Furvert.
It's pretty great! I love how simple yet also looks very appealing :3
ALSO MAKE GABUMON NEXT!
I think you did an excellent job at capturing the feel of the original Tamers design.
Thank you! I'm happy that i successfully captured the original essence of Renamon
1:55-2:08
Yeah, that's one of reasons why I clicked in the first place. Because ALL I KNEW ABOUT IT WAS: Thick yellow fox with huge ass and all that.
And I found your video (Weirdly enough) on some "Green" site. And I found out that you had a YT channel. So yeah, I'm staying :>
why is his video on the green site tho😭
@@mjdevlog I DON'T KNOW! I FOUND IT AND I WAS SHOCKED
This feels like something that should belong on that 'blue and yellow" site tbh. But the "green" site? Really?
Came for the P, stayed for the Q-uality. Yeah, me too :D
I can easily imagine this model in a game. Excellent job!
I'm glad you liked it! Wow you paid a lot of attention huh 😃
presentation and execution wise, everything was great, keep it up dude
I've seen a lot of Guilmon hints. From the picture on the card to the digital hazard symbol on your smartphone. I think it's going to be him!
I can't believe how much of this video is animated. That must have been so much work! It all looks so good too.
Thank you! Yes it took me long time 😅
Loved the interaction between you and Renamon, seemed very much in character for her. It was a very cute bit.
Degenerate brony.
Awww thank you so much! To be honest i don't know, just felt like it haha 😅
@@Nukorio you are so awesome
@@Nukorio definitely not discouraged! I can't wait to reach your level!
Pretty cool, having somebody go through the process of a model they intend to use in future.
You're doing Renamon justice with this work, full props to you
not going to lie, that was probably the best explanation of 3d animation that I have ever seen. I feel like I learn how to do 3d animation for myself.
It's actually refreshing to see some good sfw models of renamon. Have a thought of who's next but can't remember their name.😅

Very informative! As a hobby artist myself, I find these sorts of videos helpful, entertaining as well as allowing me to learn something I did not already know about 3D modeling. You speak clearly and the pacing as far as the story goes for your video kept my interest.
Thank you so much!

As a guy completely foreign to any concept relating 3D Modeling except from some Tinkercad stuff I did in high school, the sound effects, the lipsync, the movements, and the incredible design of both Renamon and your own character made me want to get into it again. Srlsly, you're an incredible artist.
Thank you so much!
A cute fox talks about animation of the best Digimon Renamon. I'm totally in!
I actually used a Renamon in my first playthrough of Cyber Sleuth, I named her HeavenStairs in reference to the song Stairway To Heaven by Led Zeppelin and it would be a cool thing to make my own Renamon.
Great viedo man keep it up!!
Good work 👍❤Renamon is a classic awesome character.
Alelways nice seeing another renwmon enthusiast, she's the main reason I got into and gave digimon a try because she's so cool and badass
For me as a guy who understands 3D but never got deep or worked on it - that’s JUST the right amount of information and terms, really spot-on!
this video just gave me soo much motivation to continue learning animation, I already know basics for sculpting, retopo, rigging UV and texturing but animating is something I am just getting into and I am soo glad I stumbled onto your channel
Just wanted to say this is definitely work an art, not just tutorial.

If in actual japanese she says: "What are you looking at" and then "i'm sorry" then leaves.
Really cool to hear an animator talk about the process like this. Nice vid man

I can't animate at all but I'm totally 3d printing her for my room.
I’ve never been a big fan of Digimon, but Renamon has such an appealing, amazing design! Love her~ ❤️
She's a literal fox, foxes are to be loved. People are nothing like into all that stuff, they also have a soft spot for foxes. They are just..... appealing.
Imagine a lythero collab with this guy (peak)
Oh please, that would be amazing
Good idea, yeah but hopefully he gets commissioned for a future video and get time to model
im not entirely sure what to say, i loved the original animation and seeing how it goes together was a big "this is pretty cool moment" the deliberate low frame-rate look was really easy on the eyes as well.
OMG FELLOW FOX MY BROTHER
Watching this was a treat.
Now I can't wait until he makes a new 3D model of an Eeveelution and has to look up references for _those_ lil creatures...

That's right!
Hmm didn't try it. Need to learn more about shading. Thanks for offering solution!
@@Nukorio yeah, inverted objects causing a shadow on its self hurts my brain a bit
I keep coming back to watching this video, because it's simply so well made and oozing with personality. A true joy and you started your channel the best way possible. Also it's fun to find tiny little rendering errors, of which there aren't many.
Anyway, now knowing this video very well, I can give feedback on 2 points:
1) Your question about Renamon's eyes: If you don't know good solutions by yourself yet, here is how I would do that: Have the pupils as their own objects and give them a "track to" modifier, selecting the camera as tracking object.
Thanks for suggestion though
2) Hmm that's interesting, i can try it and see if i like it or not
My answer to your question - it took me i think 2 or 3 weeks.

I read renamon on title and had to click asap
The effort that went into just rigging your own animations for this video and the expressiveness, let alone the renamon model itself is genuinely awesome and impressive. I've seem professional animators who cant do this good a job, even with the stop motion framerate. Awesome job. Ironically now I want a making of _of the making of_ video, lol
That's a high praise! Thank you sir!
