My friends and I were fortunate enough to see Neil and Rush in concert back in 2010. Rush was on tour, Time Machine Tour. Neil played a short version of his famous drum solos. He and others of Rush jammed for 3.5 hours. Awesome Memories.

And to think he was in his 50s at the time. I'm in my 50s now and have such an appreciation for how focused and fit he was. I enjoyed watching you enjoy this. Up until he got ill, he was constantly working on his craft as a Percussionist, great man too. RIP Neil you'll be missed forever but thanks for leaving us performances like this.

Bro. I've been following Neil Peart and Rush since 1974 when he joined the band. My attention was caught back in 69' when I first heard John Bonham on their Zeppelin 2 album. I was captivated by JB's drumming. Then 74' rolled around and Rush's Fly by Night album came out and I almost lost it listening to Neil Peart. Bonham and Moon both are great drummer's, but then there's another level of drumming and that where Neil set's. Dude, I cried for two days when I heard on the news Neil had died. Undoubtedly the greatest drummer that ever graced this planet.
    Keep on rocking bro.

RUSH LIVE……I was lucky enough to see one of the last shows before Neil died at SPAC N.Y. Simply the most talented three man band ever. Incredible performances every time. “In eight years I’ll be seventy one, I can play Charlie Watts drum parts when I’m seventy one, I can’t play Neil Peart’s drum parts when I’m seventy one” - Neil Peart at sixty three.

Really the best reaction of this solo, in my opinion Is a song with tribal mix sounds and a perfect technique . And yes he Is one of the three inmortals drummer also I'm agree with your list. Was called 'The Profesor" because he moved to teach to youngers drummers new sounds and technique.
    Fenomenal reaction buddy

RIP Neil!! I was lucky enough to see Rush 6x (this tour shown here twice lol) and each show when Neil started up, we went BANANA SANDWICH!!🤣 I always joke how awesome it was how short the line was for the ladies room too LOL🤣🤣
If you enjoy reading at all, I'd recommend Neil's book The Masked Rider... tales of his adventures cycling through South Africa. His talents were endless... ❤🥁
So glad you watched this one! Rock on! ❤✌🤘

I wish there was video of his Exit Stage Left solo during YYZ. He’s goes absolutely nuts. No electronic drums or trigger. All acoustic drum, cymbals and accessory percussion.

In the clip at the end I believe the drummer was the great Gene Krupa ✌️

      @MrTech226 ปีที่แล้ว +3

You are correct about Gene at the end. I know that both Gene and Buddy are major influences on Neil. Neil played a tribute to Buddy right after Buddy died.... He jammed with Buddy's band.

The Professor is the best, but Danny Carey from Tool (master of polyrythm`s) and John Bohnam (Moby Dick) are right there as well! Buddy Rich is totally badass as well! We cannot forget Ginger Baker and Alex Van Halen!

Love Neil. He's definitely one of the best. My personal favorite. But idk drummers that idk, so I can't say he's the best. I think Buddy Rich is the gold standard when it comes to the drumming community. I'm not in that community, it's just what I hear other drummers talk about all the time on their channels. You should check out Mr. Rich someday. I think everything about him will shock you.
    Another great reaction 🤘🏻🤘🏻

Neil had a much longer more punishing career than John or Keith. He would ride a motorcycle all day to the next show, then play a 2-3 hour show.

It's funny how you referred to one of the worlds greatest percussionists as, "A pretty good drummer" not long ago. Keith and John were actually two of his biggest influences along with Buddy acknowledged at the end of the solo.
Thanks for listening to this though.

Neil had a touch of the flu in Frankfurt and this wasn't one of his best solos imo there are many out there such as this one th-cam.com/video/6XPrNGpzeGI/w-d-xo.html&si=EnSIkaIECMiOmarE where he's much faster and more precise but even not up to snuff he blows away every other Rock drummer including Bonham and Moon who frankly died long before they could reach the level he attained.

I think this one gets so much attention because of the video quality and because people from all ranges can see how impressive it is. Drummers like myself and non Drummers can hear and see all the range he has.
