The main reason I want to get into pottery is for fermenting crocks and cookware. I'm in the process of looking at low-tech firing and glazing solutions. Thanks for the instructional videos. J

Thank you for another instructive and pleasant video. I'm beginning to throw larger vessels and I think these crocks would be a good form for me to try. I appreciate that you acknowledge your process 'errors' and don't edit them out. They're all part of the journey for us aspiring makers and showing them minimizes their significance to the final outcome. Skål!

i like the shape of the 2nd, both were good to see the process, still being new to clay, i attend a 3 hour class once a week, time is of the essence, so learning to throw, my work is heavy, i love to trim almost as much as throwing, however now, the weights of clay are getting bigger along with what i want to make, to me its lazy not to move the clay up to make bigger pieces, and im getting there. i like to watch your videos, you are not afraid to show the 'oops' moments, it makes me feel better knowing that potters have a 'wobble' every now and again, it makes you human lol, keep potting and i will be watching what you do next. Thank you

A new shape. Here in California we like pickled red onions for tacos and of course there's plenty of olives here. Also just regular pickles will be coming up in the fall.

You can use the jars for that too but strictly speaking you dont need a water lock for pickles :-)

What a great video! Thank you for sharing, i’ve been dreaming of making my own fermenting pot, but after reading about Onggi korean pots for kimchi, got confused which clay to use. How important is the type of clay? I typically use black manganee 970c to 1025 or white chamotte 1000C to 1280C. What would you recommend?

Thanks. Any clay that you feel good about working with should do :-)
