    this is great about the footwork before the pull! i've been doing the drag shot without it and the shot always hit the D's shin

      Exactly, all about getting more of an angle change.

    Pulling in close like that gives you so much power in your shot

    • @Train2point0
      @Train2point0  ปีที่แล้ว

      Completely agree, brings the puck into something we call "the power tunnel" at Train 2.0.

      @@Train2point0 a few other good techniques 1. Move puck back as if you are going to do a backhand pass, but go forward.
      2. Turn blades sideways as if you are stopping, but keep going. 3. Breaking out if defenceman is hugging boards go towards middle. If he moves bank it off boards, if not go around him. 4. Full speed up side and stop hard at hash marks, usually someone free coming up middle.
      5. If on defence follow the body not the puck.

    Bends his knee and drives his weight down on the stick to create flex as well

    thanks for the detailed breakdown Jason!
    just to confirm: @ 45 sec you mention anchor, but then it never comes up again for the rest of the vid. So is anchor a preliminary step in the learning progression but Not part of the actual shot? Or prior to changing the stance to narrow and rolling on the outside edge we still need to anchor?

    • @Train2point0
      @Train2point0  ปีที่แล้ว

      Not part of the shot but part of the set up, correct.

  • @bfish9700

    It's definitely the footwork. I get a ton of power from the pull-in snap shot but I don't get anywhere near that angle change so it ends up like a slow wrister.

    So are you saying that because he begins in a corkscrew position, that allows him a greater range of lateral movement to pull the puck in tight to shoot - changing the attack angle more dynamically?

    Great video! Where on the stick should the puck be releasing from? My shots come off quick wobly for my snap shots. Am I releasing too much on the toe? Hard to know without a video of me shooting, i understand.

    • @Train2point0
      @Train2point0  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Toe is the sweet spot Tom. But properly loading it with your posterior oblique sling is the key here. Use the bounce of your muscles to load and release your shots.

      Thank you! WIll work on it. Any general reasons shots come off woblyyou can throw out there for me to think about?@@Train2point0

    I’ve been working on this shot for two days and I find that I’m not getting anywhere near the power of Mathews. Should my outside edge have complete pressure on it for the end of the shot or no?

    • @Train2point0
      @Train2point0  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes can help no doubt, would need to see video of your shot to see where you're going wrong.
