    How to do an Ovi one timer and get more accuracy?

    • @hockeytraining

      Good idea. I'll see what I can come up with for some drills to work on off-wing one Ts

      im sure if you ask him he snot shooting for a specific spot on net. taking a one timer and shooting it that hard and fast will typically beat the goalie regardless of where it is on net. generally speaking dont beat me up for that answer

    what u said about Matthews release was correct but the way u showed it wasn’t good vid tho vv hard to obtain this skill

    Great breakdown. Of course you're not Matthews and no one expects there to be anything but a few things different btw you two. Aside from skating (much wider base and left skate well over on edge), his elbow is up and his hips move in a different way. With elbow up and a pause allows for an eccentric movement patterns for more free energy. In addition, the posterior oblique sling (facial connection btw Rt hand and left hip) makes it more of a rotational movement with relaxation to allow for stretch to be used to initiate the movement. Matthews is more fluid and relaxed... ...and naturally bc he's a pro. Thumbs up for your bravery bc very few pros can pull this off. Another place to see more about this type of movement that i've found can be found on 'how to shoot like Pettersson' by Train2point0.

    a big factor on how smooth matthews' release is is that he's using a stick with a 6.5 lie, which causes the puck to be further away from him when stickhandling (which he counterbalances by using a shorter stick) so he then has to drag the puck towards him in order to put his weight on his shot

      6 is standard lie and 6.5 would make the puck closer to the body. Though most Sakic curves nowadays are 5.5 more or less anyhow. He uses a short stick and really turns over his wrists and hunches over a bit before loading

    Great video with the tips. People saying "Matthews doesn't do it like that". Well yeah no shit! I mean he's literally the best in the world at it! 😆

    he drags a little more than this guy was

    • @hockeytraining
      @hockeytraining  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      True... I noticed this when editing the video. I wasn't holding it long enough... which is tough to do and help makes Matthews so good. Good eye!

      Hockey Training yes, i tried it. it is extremely tough to drag it in as far as he does. matthews also uses only 80 flex and very short stick compared to most. about 2 inches below his chin.

      probably drags it double the distance tbh

    Thing is in the final drill ur pull is pointless. U places the defender so far left and and it’s just pointless to drag. I would like to see the defender straught in front of u. Thx for the vid
