Yeah, it isn't gonna get crowded. We all know the reason tourists (mainly men) go to Medellin. Manizales doesn't offer anything like that. It is quiet, tame, boring, people are slightly more cold and conservative. Beautiful place, but the average traveler would get bored after a few days there. Also, it rains a ton there.
Manizales isn’t boring at all, the problem is that you don’t speak Spanish therefore interaction with locals is totally different I’m a native Spanish speaker and Manizales is a great city , not a town , and far from being conservative

I love Manizales’ architecture, the “Monumento a los colonizadores” in Chipre, the beauty of the women , the culture , the tango dancing, the coffee, the friendliness and accent of the people !
What a beautiful city, and I love the vibe as everyone bustles in preparation for the fair. You arranged your walk around town nicely, and the description of the morning run, above the crowds was terrific, as the viewer sees much the same view... but not quite
I read an article where Manizales was ranked the safest city in Colombia. Visited a few months ago and had a great experience, noticed some drug addiction and homelessness issues but overall is a great town.
A lot of people know about Manizales. It's not as glamorous as the most popular locations. Many foreigners live there and other youtubers have visited but it's not going to get crowded with tourists any time soon.
In 2019-2022, Colombia did. receive over 3 million refugees from Venezuela. Many of them are the homeless, no jobs and some are members of the infamous Tren de Aragua, which have caused a lot of crime, not only in Colombia but throughout the Americas including the US.
I have encountered Colombians who blame US policy for the situation. And some animosity towards Americans in the larger cities where crime is a problem.
@@BuffertheTourist : The current president is a Marxist and his party is composed of former members of the terrorist M19 and socialist affiliates. Petro, won elections with a bare 50%. With the exception of Bogota, all the high altitud regions in the middle of the country are anti-Petro Petro currently has less than 35% support.

Gave ya the "Like" before you said it was your B-Day...HBD! Great videos, Buff. I love recognizing the things I know and learning all the new takes. You do a bang up job. Buenos.
Rest assured this place won't ever be crowded by tourist. For one you need to learn spanish and two travelling solo with no spanish can be dangerous. Lastly, small cities are extremely boring with hit or miss nightlife on the weekends.
mate , actually Manizales is a place to live in Colombia because of the weather, the size of the city and for being close to bigger towns but still not overcrowded by tourism. (Colombia/Or;andoFlorida).
I travelled a lot in Colombia over the years. Manizales seems nicer than Pereira and Armenia, but i wouldn't rave about it, or recommend anyone to visit it, as there are so many better authentic places to visit. In fact i found it to be quite depressing. Yes it does have that typical feel, but so do many other Colombian towns. I visited the areas you went to plus the market areas, further down from that plaza, later on in the video. It would be nice if you could show some of the other areas of Manizales, so that we can better understand the City. That is only one aspect of the City, which is spread out, and visitable by cable cars.
Indeed the "eje cafetero" is a gem to be discovered. The famous coffee ☕ triangle brings the best of Colombia 🇨🇴 . Manzinales is a living proof! Thanks for sharing this insightful presentation with us.
Sorry to break it to you man, but you're fifteen to twenty years late. Places like Medellin, Salento and Manizales were discovered by backpackers in South America 15-20 years ago. Back then, it was just a secret amongst the backpacking crowd on the Gringo Trail of Latin America. If you went to Medellín in 2009, there weren't even six backpacker hostels in the entire city. Then the city slowly grew from being a talked about destination amongst backpackers on the the Gringo Trail to becoming a digital nomad and retirement destination within a matter of a ten to fifteen years.
Manizales looks very interesting 😊
It’s great!

Was in Manizales for six days back in 2023 - absolutely adore it, my favourite city in Colombia, would love to go back.
Same. Such a great place.

@BuffertheTourist dont ever blame another country for your own corrupt government

Looks like you'd get plenty of exercise walking around town.

Went there a couple of years ago. Beautiful, but very boring city. Left after 5 days.
Things might have changed. The neighborhood of Milan had plenty.
Dude reminds me of Anthony Bourdain 😅
Thank you 😊
No McDonald's but Payless shoe store (?)weird Is the food very spicy generally?
Not at all, but very flavorful. Lots of pork and sausages. And their beans are the absolute best.
If you are expecting Mexican, you will be disappointed.
5:49 frm brazil 🇧🇷 to Colombia 🇨🇴 MUST have a yellow fever vaccination card ??? Anything else???
That and an onward ticket. I just buy one through American Express. You get 24 hours free cancelation. It’s good to have, but no one has ever checked.
