Good comparison video. One thing I would point out: users of the 3 lower Rydeen models would have to remove the micro-SD card from the unit every time to watch video files on a PC. And b/c the micro-SD slot is on the top of the mirror w/a screw-on cover, it might be a difficult chore to do on a OEM-looking “permanent” install. For that reason, I would recommend using the velcro strap install on the lower 3 models. The Tombo 360x would be fine w/the permanent install, as the video files can be easily extracted w/the USB-C connector.

@@tomaskey6844 I said it was difficult, not impossible, w/the permanent install. The screw is tiny, so you have to extremely careful not to drop it, or it could get lost.

View 360 SPL ordered and will be in tomorrow afternoon. I’m really hoping that rear camera performs well. I understand the side cameras can be added to this unit so I might try it after this is set up.
@@Elmafusa69 correct. You can still add the blind spot cameras but it won’t have the lights like the Tombo. I’m really liking this system so far and will get the add on cameras next week.

Love your videos on the tombo 360. Can you please do one on the parking mode and the motion detection exclusively. How it works , what it covers. Would really appreciate...keep making these informative videos.
Thank you Humble! The motion detections simply works as the name implies, if someone passes in front of the motion sensor or if motion is seen by the motion detector, a video is recorded. What you are looking for is a Cloud connected dash cam like this one th-cam.com/video/EBLvq2X2SwQ/w-d-xo.html or this one th-cam.com/video/BAEH4f2ulEs/w-d-xo.html (live video, tracking, notifications to your phone etc.) Cheers!

Hello Alex I'm currently searching for a complete camera setup for my taco truck all around (both side mirrors, front camera, replacing back up camera. Also replacing the head unit as well. Thanks for responding, I would think that if someone were to do something nefarious and saw that they could conceal such an act by just removing the mirrors SD card that that would trigger the External Device to resume operations. Just a thought again thank-you for your assistance I thoroughly enjoy your channel.
You're welcome! The memory card on the Rydeen dash cams is concealed with a cover and further secured with a screw as shown on my full review video. So it's more likely that the thief would take the SSD drive (if not hidden and if he knows about it LOL) than that the main memory card. I also has some viewers swap out the screw to a security for extra measure for those that want to protect the main memory card. That being said, this is the first mirror dash cam with an external drive connection, so I like your idea and I imagine as manufacturers begin to experiment with this external connection, more clever ways to use it will be discovered and possibility added down the road (I already heard of another cool feature using that backup drive connection but I can't share much info on that yet, stay tuned. Honda Ridgeline 2020. Can the rear camera be mounted under the third brake light and then have the wire feed into the cabin using the same hole as the wires for the brake light? It seems it would be nicely protected from rain and would allow it to be another 1-2 inches higher than mounting it inside at the top of the back window.

Correct, when requested some installers will route the rear camera cable (if mounting on the inside of the car) via the the same hole as the wires for the brake light, it really just comes down to how much time (and budget) is available for the install. I have tested a couple ones that do have Navigation (Android Auto and Carplay) However so far my opinion on this is that I found it uncomfortable to look up to my mirror to see a map vs looking at my mounted phone or the screen on my vehicle if your car has a stereo that supports navigation. The other issue is that mirror navigation takes up half the mirror screen so now the portion used for the mirror function is now small which is ok for backing up imo but difficult to use for a full time rear view mirror. why aren't car manufacturers adopting such crucial technology into their cars! even for an extra cost , let the option be available to upgrade at least.
Hi Mark! Ah the infamous mirror dash cam glare (which affects what we perceive as brightness), unfortunately all mirror dash cams are plagued by this to an extent (is just part of the nature of a screen also being used as a mirror when the LCD panel is off). However here is what I found works good to reduce it and increase visibility of the mirror dash cam screen. 1st is window tint (sides windows only not on the rear if camera is mounted inside the car). 2nd I aim my mirror dash cam down towards the rear seats so I don't get the reflection of the bright outside (this assumes your are using the dash cam with the screen on). And I have more mirror dash cam reviews on my channel in the playlist "Dash Cams Reviews" if you like to compare them. Cheers!
@@AlexAutoFun yes, thank you. I did tint the windows and I also got an anti-glare film (essentially removing the capacity as a mirror) I think it's dumb they make it into a mirror in the first place... if I had a mirror I wouldn't need the camera! hehe
@@whitedime You're welcome Mark! Yeah the reflection is an interesting because it's meant to be a safety (in case of a failure the LCD mirror reverts to a normal mirror). Which I understand, wouldn't want to loose mirror capabilities when doing some critical movement while driving. BUT I know there is likely some people out there who may not care for a backup and who maybe willing to take on the risk of a non-reflecting mirror dash cam. So one time I asked the head of a major mirror dash cam company if he would be willing to do one and it was a straight no and told me that reflection is needed for safety etc., basically what we know already. But as I thought about his answer deeper, it has to come to liability. It's likely that a company won't risk releasing a non reflecting mirror due to concerns over an accident if it fails and does not revert to a normal mirror. But is someone is brave enough (or crazy enough to risk releasing one LOL) I will definitely review one and update this comment for you. Cheers!

@@SamWesting my Rydeen SPL tilts down far enough to reach the screw with no issues and I really like it mounted with the bracket instead of straps.
