Thanks for making this video. It really helped us out. I had my son and nephew install it while I enjoyed the show lol Now I have a sweet intake sound and I really notice the difference in second gear. Modifications include hondata base tune and PRL HVI only
FYI that is in fact Snap-on's 1/4" drive ratchet handle but with a 3/8" drive head. For decades dating back to the 70's, technicians used to buy replacement 3/8" drive heads and install them into their perfectly good 1/4" handles to create a custom, compact ratchet that can fit in tight spots. Snap-on must have caught on to the buzz, and made this custom ratchet for sale.
I’ve actually found a use for it in a super tight spot lol. I’m definitely learning that there really is a “right tool” for the job even though you might be able to get away with using the incorrect tool.
@@trustalign and if the intake that the winning FL5’s used was publicly available,, that might be in my car right now so AGAIN…. I’ll stick to what I originally said. For the money and for what’s available right now, this intake is what I’ll use.
Yeaaaah I see it but I wouldn’t call that a true secondary because it just feeds into the same inlet, not to mention the front opening is dramatically smaller than the PRL

yeah, imo, gruppeM is better as it is getting the air from the front. The prl snorkel looking thing appears to just grab air that is already hot in that area...I don't see how the through process of the air in the fender is so much different than what is already in the engine bay...it's not like that snorkel goes that far down lol. I canceled my prl order and ordered gruppeM. I know the price is stupid, but the build quality and engineering seems better than PRL...and customer service is way better through bulletproof.
I wonder about brake temps pulling all that air flow out of there. It’d be interesting to see a driver side to passenger side brake temp comparison after install.
I just picked up my FL5 2 days ago. Have definitely noticed high IAT’s even when driving around normally. I come from the GR Corolla platform where hot air intake is also an issue. This looks like a massive difference from stock! Definitely want to look into this before tracking the car
@@GridZilla I know those are a must if you want to do a full 20min session without a cooldown. How many minutes were you able to get on stock tune/hardware before the oil was too hot? I know that varies a lot from weather, to track, to driver, but what have you experienced personally?
Damn, nice sounds from turbo spool thru PRL air intake! 😁👍 I wonder if 27WON snorkel on 11th of the Civjc SI will work on your Type R? Who know? You should be order it and test it if work out or not. 😀

Wow driving an intake before tune. That's an expensive rebuild. Anything pre turbo needs to go straight on the dyno or you can just melt rings n pistons.
@@Reptilianoverlord-jc8mt yes it does your increasing more airflow pre turbo. It will run lean and eventually melt the rings and pistons in the long run. It's actually running worst and losing power.

That is awesome!
Any improvement in temps? I get 45 Celsius on mine and the weather is cold. I’m confused. Might have to upgrade my intake

We’ll find out this Sunday!
Nice work man. Thanks for these vids you make.
Glad it helped!
Thank you! I just recieved mine and waiting for the inlet to install all at once.
Nice!

I'm waiting to see if Acuity will release their intake!
That’s also a great design but from what I hear it would require deleting the AC condenser
Spoon car did the 25 hour thunder hill with the stock box, that’s good enough data for me
The winning FL5’s didn’t use the stock air box.
It didn't use PRL products either 😂😂 @@GridZilla

Super cool. I just bought a FL5. Can't wait to get new intake. Trying to find someone to do it for me. I don't have a garage.
It’s an easy enough install. You could do it in an hour or so right in your driveway or carport.
Your turbo inlet from PRL also adds turbo sound
Yes it did but the intake was a massive difference in sound
Heading to Starbucks right now to watch this video! Salude 🍻
Rock on!
Wrong statement. Gruppe M comes with secondary inlet first, not PRL. Have a look :)
Yeaaaah I see it but I wouldn’t call that a true secondary because it just feeds into the same inlet, not to mention the front opening is dramatically smaller than the PRL
To my knowledge isn’t the air flow direction more important than just the size of the box and opening?

There’s heat everywhere of course but no doubt the air is still far cooler than that crazy hot engine bay.

On back order already no doubt

Curious how well this affects temps by itself. Looks like you have the titanium charge pipe and perhaps their intercooler charge pipe upgrades?

Need to say, I'm not looking for turbo sound, I'm looking for power number and other benefits. Expensive sound 😆

It for sure adds power. Never said it doesn’t but to really see a proper gain you have to get a tune.

PRL ALL DAY LONG BABY
Struggling to find one. Seems like since PRL was bought out stock has become an issue.
PRL was bought out? I know during winter they moved and re staffed
I heard it runs better with the stock inlet vs upgraded prl intake. Is that true?
I’ve never known that to be true. The PRL inlet has always been a noticeable bump in performance
How about hks plow of valve 😅🎉
Sounds good but honestly not worth the tuning headache
Do these PRL mods void factory warranty?
Always best to assume yes
CA CARB legal?
