In today's video, we make a trip over to the Hondata HQ to pick up a flashpro for the FL5 type r! Hondata has finally broken the ECU and figured out how to actually tune this thing. We made 30hp over our previous number for a total of 321hp360tq. the type r feels amazing!!

Daniel B. is a master of tuning, king of tuners, the mod man… He tuned my FK8 a couple years back and nothing but fun with my ride. No issues, just tuned right💯
Honestly it trip out that I had hondata back when I had my EG in the early 2000s… I knew they would go an extremely long way in the scene… so glad to see them so successful still and that Dut gets to play around with some of their stuff!

Can you tint the windows where you live? I have the same FL5 in the sonic gray and did a 15% tint with a windshield strip and it looks so much better. I have to say that I prefer the looks of the factory wheels.
When is the rear bumper coming in for the R32? Can't wait to see it fully done with the skirts.

type R clutches arent glass cannons like the other model civics below it. Friend of mine is doing 547whp/430tq on stock internals and clutch. Daily driven no issues.

I'm curious, with the money you've put into your FL5 vs the same money that would be put into a K20A2 how much power would the K20A2 gain? You're next build? The Kia GT4 Stinger? So from Hondata, is the flash tune that you are getting like an OTS (off the shelf) tune? Like Cobb did for Subarus with the APs?
Yes, it's a calibration made by Hondata for use in all FL5 chassis. The tune is developed to be used in all FL5, and in all regions, for its on the moderate side of things

Hondata is probably playing it safe with their Tune. Alot of people will be purchasing their ECU unlock and they can't just offer a super aggressive OTS tune that might lead to premature failure, would be a bad look for them.
But if smaller tuning shops want to offer tunes that are closer to the edge of what's capable on stock turbo/injectors/etc than that's on them.
@@JoshRoeloffs previous gen CTR saw 40+hp increase from the standard hondata tune. Completely get them playing it safe but this is the first hondata tune that doesn’t offer any sort of power gains. Granted I’m sure they’ll figure it out sooner or later.

Increase in torque with no increase in power……so it’s wearing and straining the drivetrain far more but no faster? Awesome.
That's not how any of this works.
You can't just call it a jailbreak because you feel like it. "Jailbreaking" in this context was a term specific to Apple devices. Last I checked, that was a Honda not an Apple. I believe the word you're looking for is "unlocked".
