I see that the author was not really into the book detail at all.
I like the movie verisons by far, except Chani. Zendaya is not pretty enough for MC. Rebecca Fergusson as Jessica, Javier Bardem as Stilgar, Timothee as Paul, Oscar as Leto I, Stellan Skarsgård as Baron, Charlotte Rampling as Reverend mother. No casting could be better. Specially Timothee, Javier Bardem and Rebecca's performance was just phenomenal. It could not be better than this. Absolute perfection

Gaius Helen Mohiam is supposed to be old but doesn't look old as the Bene Gesserit control their aging. Stilgar is supposed to have lines in his mustache from constantly having his nostril breathing tube pressing down on his face. He is also supposed to be darker skinned. Whereas Chani is supposed to be lighter skinned than Stilgar and is not supposed to have Auburn hair.

Buzzfeed did a list too and made everyone basically black with a crap load of freckles. The casting was top notch but my only gripe was the north vs south tribes thing (the Freman were and unified people) and Paul and Chani's relationship was much different in the book. Chani stood by Paul in every decision Paul made, she even supported Paul marrying Irulan for political gain. Zendaya was more of a pouting 10 year old child that threw tantrums all the time.

In the Dune book, the Atreides house are nobles full of luxuries like the kings of England and the Harkonnens are ruthless beings and enjoy killing, the latest Dune movie is well run but has many flaws

That's great! I love this book series, and I do recommend you read the entire saga, even the prequels and sequels, that were written by the son of the author. Many people don't like them, but I personally do, and they were written based on material the author left before dying.
Beware, there is a HUGE difference between books by Frank and Brian (his son). I read the 3 prequels by Brian, and to the date, it was the worst experience I had with sci-fi books. If I could, I'd ask for a refund. I was even afraid to go to the Dune book itself because of that experience. Gladly, Frank is a real sci-fi author and great writer overall.

I'm totally OK with how DV and David Lynch reinterpreted some of the characters' appearances. The real shame lies in the SyFy Original miniseries. The only good casting choice in the entire production was Ian McNeice as the Baron. That's it and that's all. And those stupid hats.
