I love how everyone (of which I’ve seen 2) call the Piplups racist for hating the Bidoof. Forgetting how all of its Pokédex entries are nothing but talking about how Piplup’s are pompous assholes.

Can't believe how realistic they made the Trainer's team here:
Infernape, Luxray, Togekiss hatched from Cynthia (which makes sense since they want the enemy to have the Staraptor), Lucario hatched from Iron Island, Glaceon (since they showed Bidoof in a snow route) and the HM Slave!
Also love how Staraptor stretching out its wings to scare Bidoof is basically using Intimidate on it!
It's no time realistic at all if it was realistic Staraptor would've won

@@Rafaelcore_ It makes more sense for the other Bidoof, but our Bidoof takes a fair while to get upset at how she's treated, and the trainer doesn't seem interested enough in her at first for it to be a hidden ability.
Beside Intimidate and what's probably Work Up, Bidoof doesn't show any other signs of raised or lowered stats, either.

I think it's implied Golem lived on 1 HP from Lucario due to Sturdy, which is how it came down to Bidoof and why the Trainer thought Bidoof could beat Golem. Then Affection focus sash multiple times into Hyper Beam miss and Rollout Crit

@@chaocobojun2098 Abilities and terms still exist in the pokemon universe though..it was even confirmed in the anime that pokemon ACTUALLY level up, like, by LEVELS, and learn moves at SPECIFIC LEVELS. I mean, ffs the bidoof was an HM slave, how dense can you be??
@@fredericksaxton9782 The anime *doesn’t* run on actual video game levels, because that makes no sense in that world where Pokémon are actually real and live there like animals, that’s how it interprets the Pokémon world (the anime wouldn’t be as interesting if everything followed video game logic). Now this Bidoof short is a completely different beast and it seems like it follows the games a lot more than the anime with the HM slave part. That being said, they still do some anime parts in the battle, but not as much as usual. This goes to show that not everything can be translated from video game sense to cartoon/anime sense without some liberties being involved, as seen here. Also, this short was very cute, Bidoof was amazing.
@@ribbodile6225 they were talking about a specific episode of the anime mate some trainers at some posh prep school have devices that can see pokemons power levels and moves plus possible level up moves as in the games however I think the kids at the end of the episode are proven wrong by ash's pikachu or something been years think it was johto maybe even kanto

@@maximocaseres2526 if you let it become a bibarel it becomes average when it comes to fully evolved pokemon, just like all starter route normal mons, its key advantage comes from its learnset though as it can learn most TMs, it is possible to make a good build on him.

Everyone seems to notice the female, but not that it's shiny too. I mean, just look at it compared to all the other Bidoofs.
I’m not sure about her being shiny, the feet and muzzle look too dull, much closer to a regular Bidoof than to the more maroon colored feet and muzzle of shiny Bidoof.

YES! THIS is what I was searching for in the comments! I love how the heroine Bidoof uses masculine gestures like the flexing. And how even the other Bidoof have gender differences! I think most hero Pokémon have been male so this is fun

Something that took me a while to realize. Part of why I adore this demonstration is because Bidoof acts less like a person in an animal body and more like a very intelligent animal. The little mannerisms like the shaking like a dog or sniffing the Pokeball or him sneezing (trust me dogs sneeze a lot…) just makes this feel all the more charming

Aura Sphere didn't miss because Aura Sphere _can't_ miss. Lucario wasn't aiming it at Staraptor to begin with- that was a warning shot. That was Lucario going, like, "Leave the Bidoof alone or the next one's going down your throat." Also, look at the tail- the Bidoof is female.

I cried a bit at the end where Bidoof gets the high five and the recognition they wants when he first met the trainer. It's all they've ever wanted, their potential to be recognized

Ohoho no, Pat! Quite the contrary! She was actually the trainer's _last line of defense!_ I've actually been in similar positions myself, where my HM Slaves saved my ass against strong opponents. That's why I always make sure the HM Slave is leveled up with the rest of the team! So they can be sent in to fight in case things get dicey.
(Also, the Bidoof's a girl--she has the gender difference thing with the three tail poofs instead of four)

Battle Analysis: Bidoof’s presumed move set is Rock Smash, Cut, Tackle and Rollout. Golem lives on 1 due to sturdy, takes out Lucario. Bidoof comes out, Golem misses a Stone Edge, and gets taken out by Rock Smash (keep in mind Bidoof is decently levelled due to EXP - probably high level 40s to low level 50s)
So Bidoof uses Tackle, but it presumably does very little damage, since it made contact with Staraptor. Then Bidoof uses Tackle again, does very little damage again. Bidoof starts using Rollout, hits Staraptor and does some damage, presumably less than a quarter, whilst being saved by affection. So Bidoof uses Rollout, which is on turn 4, and Staraptor’s Hyper Beam misses, Staraptor gets hit, probably by an affection crit. I don’t think Staraptor faints due to this though, rather in the low yellow, since it still tries to use Hyper Beam, but fails. It is implied that Staraptor faints due to using Hyper Beam, but I think Bidoof actually uses Rollout again to hit Staraptor, causing it to be launched backwards and it faints. Staraptor looks charred and its mouth has smoke coming out of it because Hyper Beam failed, since it used Hyper Beam last time

@@papersparrow899 I think to jump off of something, you have to actually make contact with the thing you jump off of, and I’m pretty sure the bidoof here did not make contact with the beam (as that would have actually hurt the bidoof). It is an animation however, so logic and physics don’t need to apply.
@@twocents7509 It's impossible to jump off something that isn't solid like a beam, and maybe impossible to sneeze jump. Not sure.
@@papersparrow899 I mean, that’s basically what I was getting at. The sneeze could technically propel you up (similar to rockets ejecting out fuel/mass to propel themselves), it would just need to be really powerful. You might call it a “double jump” (off the air), or just propelling yourself with a sneeze.

I love her I love her I love her. I was straight up ugly crying after watching this animation. This little bidoof animation made me love the little beaver more then I already did.
But my HM slave was Technically training which is made proof by the fact that it could eventually solo the Elite 4 just by hanging around enough.
The pure dread in Pat's voice when he saw Bidoof being an HM Slave killed me!

I need more shorts in this exact style to be created! This short is as good as some of the ones I've seen from Overwatch (some, not all) and those OW shorts became super popular and hooked a lot of people on the game because they told a great story.
This short tells a great story too and I'll bet if Pokemon releases more they could go viral. In an age where TH-cam holds the attention of kids, this could be a gateway for a lot of new kids to become interested in Pokemon.
Definitely, when TF2 did their meet the team I was really hoping more games would market themselves like they did. Overwatch was just so souless that it wasn't fun to watch like TF2's shorts. This short really captured that kind of magic.
I'd love to think that at some point in the future they're going to have a distribution event where they give bidoof all hm moves and his ability is increases the damage of hm moves and he can't evolve

it’s actually a surprisingly relatable story, having a pokemon you barely cared about clutch it out when you only saw them as utility and suddenly they hop up your favourites list in a single battle. i also never realised how well designed for animation bidoof is, its so expressive!

I can’t imagine how tense this must be in an actual game, your star players are all fainted and you ran out of revives, the only one left is your hm slave and he is able to clutch and pull through with little to no hp

Bidoof is more than an HM slave. When I was a kid playing Pokémon Ruby I unironically brought my Zigzagoon HM slave into the Elite 4 because it was my favourite since it was the first Pokémon I caught (his name was Ziggy). I really wanted to beat the game with it so I grinded all my other Pokemon to the point where I could beat the game without sending him into battle. I think by the end of the game Ziggy was like level 10 because I didn't want him to get hurt lol.
This Bidoof looks like a top 1% Bidoof, ngl. It probably has good IVs because of how durable it is and it's speed in the wild. It could also Pokerus (since it sneezes alot lol). It probably hasn't gained any EVs through battle but the recent Generations have made it super easy to train EVs through the Gym system so it could actually be fully cracked. It's probably also gained a few levels through switch battling, like with the Gengar so I don't doubt it could out speed a low HP Golem. The Staraptor also probably was confused (probably by Bidoof's cute).
