3:27 I find it so fascinating that people always remember there being a lot of rock/ground types, but in actuality the most common type for rock to be paired with is water - in total there are 9 rock/ground types and 11 rock/water types.
With six of them being fossils, (and one being a soft gimmick pokemon being a 'living fossil') they kind of get set aside from the common pokemon. Plus, it's the gen1 effect since it introduced almost all the Rock/Grounds, and since geodude and onix are pretty common across the franchise...

In Japan, calling the parents of your date "Father" and "Mother" is actually a thing. I believe it's a mark of respect towards those who might become your parents-in-law in the future if your relationship bears fruit, though that could be a faulty interpretation on my part.

the worst about the metapod fight is. ash's metapod had tackle since it evolved from training as a caterpie. meaning the fight could have been way shorter if he just used tackle. also. if he used all his harden PP (sounds about right) to get struggle.

I actually caught a shiny geodude a day or two ago. It was the first non quest given shiny pokemon I got. I was just flying around and I suddenly heard a shiny noise. I wasn't even shiny hunting.

This video (for some reason) reminded me of the stupidest thing I've ever done in any Pokemon game that I've ever made in my near 20 years since Yellow/Red. Was it when I was a young kid? Nope. Was it when I was sleep deprived? No.
In X and Y, there's a Team Flare roadblock at one of the exit routes to an area unavailable at that point. They asked if I wanted to join Team Flare. Rhetorically of course. They said the price of admission was 5 million PokeDollars. I earned that money. I made 5 million in game currency at the start of the game. I repeatedly challenged one of the available cafes that you could pay for and then face a few trainers and make money or be given nuggets or something. I earned my 5 million from that singular method. My reward? I went there and guess what? (I already knew it wasn't going to happen but for the wrong reason). Nothing. I expected them to take the money and refuse to let me join. I thought, well Gamefreak would never expect anyone to legit do that at that stage of the game. There wasn't an option to pay like for that overpriced slowpoke tail. I spent a long time building that currency for nothing. I then spent most of it on in game clothing that I never intended to wear

Picture two dudes, working in a retail business together, Pokemart clerks together or something. They get along really well, telling jokes while on downtime, synchronising their breaks, talking about their dreams and goals in life- both happen to want to start their own eatery business. Eventually, the two develop feelings for each other, and start a small hole-in-the-wall restaurant somewhere, maybe Veilstone city. Now, one day, while one of the guys (We'll call him Chad) is taking out the rubbish, (they try to minimise food waste as much as possible, but it's inevitable) he hears a sound. Scrabbling behind a dumpster. Investigating, he finds a young boy, maybe six or seven years old, dirty and with ragged clothes. Now, Chad and (Mick? We'll call the other guy Mick) Mick are kindhearted souls, so they take the boy in, feed him, and eventually the boy (whose name they learn is Roman) tells them he doesn't have any parents. So, what do Chad and Mick do? Adopt him, of course. Roman grows up healthy and happy with them, and eventually Chad and Mick get an offer to move their business to Valour Lakefront, and of course they can't deny that. So, the family of three move, and the newly-christened Seven Stars Restaurant is bright and bustling. They're rather well off, at this point, but even though Roman has grown up with a secure family and lifestyle, he's forever grateful to his dads, and will try to help them out whenever possible. So, the not-quite-adult is wearing some clothes he doesn't care about as much, taking the rubbish out (it takes a good few more loads than before in Veilstone) and he's putting down the last bag, when he realises- did he not bring five bags out? There's only four, including the one he just put down. So, he looks around, comes to the other side of the dumpster, and there he sees her. A girl in a ratty hoodie and joggers, about the same age as him, with hair cut choppily short and she's pressing herself against the wall like she wants to disappear through it.
"Well, uh, shit. Thought you were done." The missing bag is at her feet. Roman's not annoyed, but inquisitive.
"Are you okay?-"
"Yup, fine thanks, I'll just get out of your hair.... I'll leave that behind." She looks like she wants to take the bag, but just walks away, arms folded and leaning over. She's not out of view when Roman says
"Wait." She stops. "If you need a place to rest up, even for just a bit, my dads have a pretty good track record with that kind of thing. I wouldn't be here if they didn't." The girl turns around fully, and it strikes him sharply just how pretty she is, even with the grime. She gives him a watery smile.
"I'd like that, thanks." Kylie, as her name turns out to be, is in very much a similar position to what he was, but Chad and Mick fuss over her, and absolutely insist she needs to have a proper cleanse, and the night she was planning on staying turns into two, three, four, seven, a month, and it's a combination of the father figures she was denied and the warm, fresh food and the charming smiles from Roman that starts her stomach fluttering and she just feels so loved. Roman asks her on a date, eventually. In the restaurant, of course, where else? He's wearing a smart suit, and she's wearing a sundress and floppy hat (on top of long hair, it's not a safety risk to have long hair now) and they just sit and eat. Not talking, just being in each other's company. At least they are, until a young trainer comes up to them, Pokemon at their side, and asks for a battle.
And if that trainer happens to be you, reader, then I hope this story has given you some amount of hope, that even in a seemingly pessimistic world, there's still enough goodness in a restaurant owner to invite a child in from the cold, or someone well off remembering where they came from. Enough goodness for a family to love each other despite the seeming unrelation.

Also, type advantage is there for a reason. Sure, it's important in a battle, but it shouldn't be the be-all-end-all. It should be used to have people try, have difficulties, and use strategy. Just look at the Diantha and Lance fight; Lance lost because he decided that using dragon type pokemon would be good against an ice and fairy type pokemon.
