Running concurrently with the early parts of Dead Space 2, Severed follows Sprawl Security Sergeant Gabe Weller and his wife Lexine. Patrolling the Titan Mines as the necromorph outbreak occurs, Gabe is soon one of the few surviving security members, and contacts Lexine to warn her of the outbreak. Racing to Lexine, Gabe receives a transmission from Director Tiedemann ordering all surviving security teams to scrub the facility and eliminate all key subjects.

Weller was a good man, trying to protect his wife and their unborn child. Something a father and husband would do for their family
and something that never survives a Lovecraftian horror sadly.
In the railgun Dead Space game, Lexine was the love interest to the protagonist after she just lost her boyfriend to event, Gabe was a supporting character and thought to leave behind as she was dead weight. Lexine lost her boyfriend, then the protagonist turned and she killed him, now Gabe who didn't care about her at first became her husband and father to her unborn child, sacrificed himself to save them as he loved them. Lexine had it rough. Gabe will be missed.

@Ch Pe Dead Space 2 DLC and sequel to Dead Space 1 extraction. It's a side story about a group who witnesses the start of the outbreaks from the first and second game.
@Ch Pe Extraction plays like a 90s arcade game. You just point and shoot so just watch cutscenes on TH-cam.
Severed is exactly like Dead Space 2 but it’s only 2 chapters long. It’s pretty good but again, you could just watch the cutscenes. I’d only play it to feel nostalgic about DS2 but you didn’t enjoy it so...

The first 45 seconds are honetly my favorite part. You see the RIGs dropping fast, hear the screaming and you don't need to try very hard to imagine what's going on. It's amazing

I remember playing this dlc when I was a teen and that intro still gives me chills! Those soldiers had no idea what they were dealing with.
Chances are that might've been the same team that got turned into mincemeat by the necromorphs that followed Issac and Ellie after the drill went through the mines, the same scream from Isaac's story can be heard here in the start

@@hari1240 Agreed, and we could have had Lexine as part of the Marker Ops group. The Oracles could have been the ones following the group to Tau Volantis. Lots of room for good story telling that was just kind of dropped from the third game.

Please stop this, there Is no need, we all know well that if a game like Callisto protocol or Negative atmosphere look like Dead space, they will not be the same; the thing we want Is not a game that looks JUST LIKE dead space, we want something canonic, we want something that can fit in the original storyline❤️

The beginning of this not only shows the hopelessness of the situation on the station. But how severely under prepared the Sprawl Security team was for this kind of threat. Damn Tideman costed the entire stations population. And the poor security have to find a horrifying threat. I can never imagine fighting a Necromorph.

Gabe really did his men a disservice by not teaching them how to dismember people, could have disguised it as a way to disarm a hostile threat or hostage situation.
It's simple to kill a necromorph. Cut off its limbs. Not hard.... but when it's a twitcher.... I'm ending myself 😅
Had Dead Space 4 not been cancelled, I wonder if Lexine would've been one of the survivors planned to be rescued by Ellie.
Now there's an idea.
Maybe that stray dream will come true, perhaps the reboot will give dead space that jump start.
The whole necromorph concept and the atmosphere to these games really make it the most unnerving horror universe ever

I honestly think that this dlc was a great way to continue Dead Space Extraction's (which in my opinion was a far better prequel than any of the movies) story after 2 years of waiting, I bought the dlc on release day not knowing anything about it and was absolutely ecstatic to see that Gabe was our protagonist and that him and Lexine survived in the end. Such a shame that Gabe died at the end of this, and years later im curious to know if Lexine is still alive in the story or if she was killed off at some point
The developers confirmed that she's alive. We don't know where she's at though.
It's a shame this was completely prevented from coming to PC.

Crazy as this may sound, but Gabe's death scene was _literally_ the first thing I saw of the Dead Space franchise.

It happens on the same time Isaac is woke up on the mental side haha, and he is one of the key subjects that needs to be killed, that's why they are after him, but the character on this DLC just cares about his wife and wants to get out of the ship asap with her, as they know about the necromorph already, there's other game exclusive for Wii and it happens on the Ishimura right before Isaac arrives with his crew, check it as it's interesting and amazing how they did all this storyline cross on each other

im glad you actually did the ending in the starter suit cause it has alot more damage applied to it than than if you changed suits, Like the helmet and exposed damaged ear you wont see any of that if you change suits

I never got too play this DLC the base game was one hell of a ride tho I remember playing Dead space 3 like months after beating 2 just knowing your about to fight necromorphs gives you adrenaline I loved the dead space series

This DLC is a continuation of the characters from Dead Space: Extraction. Gabe Weller and Lexine Murdoch were the only survivors from the Colony on Aegis 7 and tried to flee to the Ishimura, but the Ishimura became overrun with Necromorphs. Once Nathan (main character of Extraction), Gabe, and Lexine escaped via a ship, USG Kellion was makings its arrival with Isaac Clarke, Hammond, Kendra, etc. Sadly Nathan, who had been in sort of a relationship with Lexine, succumbed to his wounds and became a necromorph with Gabe killing him.
Quite a thing when a part time character who dies in a DLC has more personality and depth than anyone in Dead Space 3.
To be fair Gabe was an already established character in the universe since he was one of the main characters of Extraction.
@@theokayishgamer Yeah, but nobody really notices characters in items that aren't a main campaign. I mean, who remembers most of the Dragon Age DLC characters? Who recalls the scientists you save in Mass Effect's "Bring Down The Sky"? Plus, the guy who saves Isaac in DS2's intro was a main character in another game, but folks just think he's a generic guy.
People have short attention spans, if you're not part of the main story vein, you're treated like an extra. It's a real waste of good writing. :/

@@masterchief9177 Brethren Moons started to attack humanity as of Dead Space 3 Awakening. There would have been no way she could have survived Brethren Moons invasion. With Dead Space 4 cancelled years ago, there's no way to speculate what happened to Lexine whether she survived or not. The story plot of Dead Space 4 would have Ellie trying to survive on a day-by-day basis, scavenging supplies while looking for survivors and withstanding necromorphs. But because that game was cancelled, there is no precise indication about Lexine's survival.
@@JustGuy7721 EDIT: I'm aware of the lore and have played the game. I directly answers the question about the events in Dead Space 2, it's obvious that it's "unknown". Nor am I worried about who dies, there's no need to point to the obvious but you may do what you like. All I stated is that she survived the Sprawl incident, we just don't know what happens after D3 because of EA. Not here speculating that she survived after the Brethren Moons attack or "fan" guessing. So I don't see the point of the reply here but I don't blame you if it was miscommunication issue.

Obviously not, who knows, regardless I still standby what I said she survived the Sprawl attack that took place in DS2 period. I understand what where you're coming from, but she survived that at the very least, not talking about DS3 or beyond at the moment of the subject.
If I was filthy rich and a gamer, I would find a finale for Dead Space, where you play as Elle and as Isaac: each gets their own campaign: Elle sees everything normally since she is immune to the marker and Isaac goes crazy and deals with delusion and his mind being lost, I think this would be an awesome game and a great way to finish the series

I wish Gabe Weller survived so that he was the playable character in co-op in Dead Space 3.
Dead space has such big universe potential, just forget 3, retool/reintroduce the brethren moons, explore more of the universe and it could work... maybe one day.

If there was a time to make Dead Space an action game it would be with this DLC only. The story of a soldier trying to save his girlfriend while fighting off the Necromorphs.
