I´ve had my Lynk & Co 01 for two weeks and I´m loving it.
Yesterday me and my family drove 82,5 km on one charge! It was a 41,25 km drive from one side of Stockholm the other side, to my stepfather, and the exact same way back a couple of hours later. It was 16°C outside on the way there and 13°C on the way back. The AC was off, since the temperature in the car was perfect anyway. The car was in D mode. The trip there took around 45 minutes and the trip back took 40 minutes (less traffic). That´s an average speed of approximately just under 60 km/h (37 mph).

11 month update: I´ve had my Lynk & Co 01 for exactly 11 months today and I am very happy with it. A couple of weeks ago I drove 89 km on one charge on mostly country roads (50 - 80 km/h) in 24°C outside temperature and the AC mostly off. The AC lowers the range pretty much so when it´s very warm outside (and in the car) and I go on longer trips (and want to maximize the electric range) I usually drive with the windows down for a couple of minutes (to ventilate the cabin and get rid of most of the warm air) then cool the cabin with the AC for a couple of minutes and then finally turn the AC off and use the fan on high level instead. This gives the car at least 10 km´s extra. 🙂

It’s rare to see independent car reviewer in China. They usually have a script that’s issued by the PR team of the car brand. All they need to do is to read along, and the car companies will purchase fans to subscribe and like them. Win-win situation for the journalist and car brands. Most consumers are scammed everyday.

Kiayundai do have many design cues from other brands. The might stem from the fact they have many ex-PSa, SAAB and Audi design staff on their teams. The early Hyundai's were Giugiaro binned concepts, early Kias were questionable designs bought from Pininfarina. Only now are they getting anything like a design style, however much of their detailing has been seen before on other cars.

Lynk & Co is a Swedish-Chinese premium car brand owned by Geely (of course, Volvo is involved there because the brand is created as a joint venture between them, so they use Volvo platforms and sharing technologies with Geely and Volvo). Their models consisted of 01, a compact crossover, the 02, a compact hatchback/crossover SUV, the 03, a subcompact executive saloon, the 05, a compact coupé crossover, the 06, a subcompact crossover, and the 09, a flagship midsize luxury crossover SUV. The 01 is the only Lynk & Co model to be sold in Europe, while the rest of them is only sold in China.

On a side note: I hope people don’t go for the subscription, it encourages paying the same money as a 3-4 years credit for something you don’t own, short lifetime for cars, some parts of which will likely end up in landfills. It’s another form of more expensive consumerism.

Because you pay a 500€/month subscription where 300€ (maybe..) is to use the car while the other 200€ is what you pay for insurance and services. We understood that 300€ for this car should be OK but what about the 200€ we should pay for insurance and services? Could we really drive this car without worries or, for instance, we could be charged 250/500€ for every claim because of insurance deductibles? I know that some long term rent contracts ask the driver to pay a sum just to open the claim...

@@tuberds There's an insurance deductible of €500, which even includes windshield repair so you'd have to pay for that yourself. Plus you can only drive 1,250 kilometres a month. Anything more and you're paying €0,15 per kilometre. Not at all attractive for those who have to drive a lot. These are the terms for the Netherlands btw, I don't know if this differs from other countries.

Great review, Thomas. 🙂 So much Autogefühl content I am consuming I am becoming an autoge-holic. 😂
I woke up to the notification of this video. I saw the title, the thumbnail with you and the car there, and with that background I have never seen here before. I was so confused. 😂
Interesting car. It further shows why I am always accepting and loving of platform sharing of cars and the merging of brands under a parent company, especially if said parent company is an automotive brand as well. There are also engineering aspects as well that benefit from this. We have seen this with the Bentley Bentayga, for example. In this case with Lynk and Co., the platform sharing was taken advantage of by Geely mostly to be able to offer more for less. This is built in China, right? I am not sure if China has the same advantages as we know with South Korea when it comes to parts and taxing of them being imported and/or manufactured, if I remember correctly. Genesis (essentially a Hyundai and Kia glittered up) takes advantage of this thing and platform sharing at the beginning. Also, this sharing helps with actually getting the car to customers. Car dealerships (online and offline). Genesis is able to build and sell cars *solely* because of Hyundai and Kia like with Lexus and Toyota. Otherwise, they would have never seen the light of day. The only automotive brand I know that (almost) completely rose up with the least amount of help was Tesla, and that is showing...for better and for worse. So, from my understanding, all that is why Lynk and Co. charges so little while providing the essence of a more expensive product.
All this may make some people ask: is Volvo now overpriced now that Lynk and Co. exist? Well...no. It is kind of like a parent being "called out" for spending too much money a month, but their child who still lives with and benefits from them has a minimum wage job, yet is surviving and using way less money. Volvo is not overpriced, _but_ if what you and I say is true all-throughout, then there is no need to buying the Volvo XC40. This seems like more value for money. This is not like with Bentley sharing parts with the Volkswagen Group. For example, experiencing a Bentley Bentayga is nothing like experiencing an Audi Q7 or Q8. With Lynk and Co., it seems like it is a Volvo throughout, but costs less. It seems likes no benefit other than brand loyalty to get the Volvo. Unless, there were many things the Volvo provides that this does not.
This is awesome by Geely and Lynk and Co. I also think it is smart if them for starting by launching an SUV (better since it is electrified), rather than making the stupid mistake Genesis did by starting with something else and no ambitious electrified car. If you want to establish yourself, appeal to a big market, not a small one. Only one major thing left to do, build the Lynk and Co. brand image. They must not build themselves up as "the cheaper Volvo." That will set people off and they will think there is a catch, especially coming from a Chinese brand. We have seen this many times. Rather they build themselves as a unique brand kind of like what Mazda has done. I really hope they further take advantage of what they have, because it can really be great.
Admittedly, I like the name _Lynk and Co._ For some reason, it reminds me of what a children's Saturday show would be called. Lynk and his friends up to mischief. 😂 Seriously, the name may intrigue people and have them wonder more. 🤔

I rented one in Spain this year and I have to say that it was a deception. The first impression is the position of the steering wheel that is not aligned (the wheels are in fact aligned). Then the break pedal that is too sensitive and it releases the pressure out of nowhere so you have to adjust the pressure all the time when breaking, so the head of all occupants are swinging back and forth. The window doesn't close automatically when locking the car, one can open the door just a few second after I locked the car and the interior is made of poor material. But the worst part was the automatic drive assistant, an option besides the cruise control and the speed limit. I don't know how it works but when i selected that option, the car automatically adjusted the speed without my interference (speeding and breaking) according to the speed limit, however there were 2 occasions when approaching a roundabout where it accelerated when it should slow down and I had to interfere breaking abruptly the car to avoid an accident

I had the opportunity to undertake a test drive with the plug-in hybrid version of the 01 and will compare it with the current Mercedes GLA 200. In general I like the car and love the rental concept, but will still probably buy a used GLA 250 in a year or two. The driver’s space is extremely roomy and comfortable, the seats are great. The view to the rear was a bit limited, but the back-up camera helps. I was very positively surprised by the three cylinder engine. It sounded great (synthesized?) and with the electric motor was very lively. The GLA 200‘s engine sounded like a broken sewing machine and was sluggish. Hopefully the 250 is better. The transmission shifted smoothly and was as it should be - inconspicuous. All of the safety system worked well, the blindspot monitor was great. I wasn‘t impressed by the 01’s infotainment system, for me it had a bit of a lag and wasn‘t structured clearly. “Frank‘s“ voice was horrible. It sounded like a cheap toy and was extremely irritating. For me the worst part of the 01 was the steering, it was extremely twitchy and for me it felt like a toy. That‘s the great part about the Mercedes, for me at least it felt like an extension of my body, the 01 was more like prosthetic….
