  • Here I show you how I installed the line lock in my g-body. [UNBOXING VIDEO] I also show you my favorite and what I think is the best AN JIC fitting flaring tool I have come across. Line lock or Roll Control is used to aid doing a burnout in the water box before a run down the track.
    ENJOY!
    Don’t forget to check out the IG and Facebook pages for the channel where I post almost daily all the little shenanigans I encounter day to day driving my Buick Grand National.

    Got this tool and saved lots going to my local mechanic to flare my lines. I had enough with him when he tried charging me $65 for one line flare, he refused to return my line. He said it broke one of his tools and that I was responsible for it. Ridiculous. He ended up letting go of my line for $10 but I never returned and I'll be leaving his shop an honest review.

    I'm rebuilding the 1986 Grand National bought new in 87 by my father ( and my stepmother crashed in 1994 with 6500 miles) I've been trying to collect parts for 10 years to replace the frame, body and parts that were stolen while it sat under a tarp. I've got the frame and chassis fully rebuilt and I'm getting the shell,s metal work started and hope to have it running this year (assuming I can find the rest of the missing misc pieces) I've found your videos informative...and motivational, keep up the good work and I'll send you some pics when I get closer.

    I know it's been a while since you did this video but let me give you some advice anyway. Use copper or steel wire to get bends before transferring them to brake lines it any line for that matter

    From 2023 NHRA rulebook: If
    brake system includes a differential pressure switch, line-loc installed on front brakes must have solenoid installed after the differential switch. All line-locs (electric or hydraulic) must be self-returning to normal brake operating mode.
    Yours is mounted before the pressure switch/proportioning valve.

    I was under the assumption that a double flare must be used in brake systems. I do love how these look. Do the fillets and AN fittings make up for the lack of strength on a single flare?

    • @VenomGT87
      @VenomGT87  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I couldn’t tell you for sure, but the fittings and line I bought were rated for brake line and nitrous use.

    • @bfjt124
      @bfjt124 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I'll throw in just a little more info on the flares. 45 degree double flares are required for regular brake lines. If you're running stainless lines like these with the AN-style fittings and slip-tubes behind the flares, then you only use a single 37 degree flare.

    I see this video is almost 3 years old. But worth a shot, btw nice setup. I am curious tho. What kind of fittings ur using for the end of the line? I tried googling JIC and AN but could not find any ends that have the sleeve/collar insert that goes inside the line and a nut that slides around the outside of the line. Ive seen these but for the life of me can not figure out what there called and where to but them. This seems like a more aftermarket method of building a brake system but I like the design better vs the standerd double flare end. Thanks again for ur time. Happy building.

    • @VenomGT87
      @VenomGT87  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Those are flared tube nuts and flared tube sleeves. If you are going this route, I highly suggest for your mental sanity and your wallet, get a nice flaring tool like the ridgid...specially with stainless. It will save you a lot of material and headaches.

    Is necessary drain the brake fluid after install the line lock?

    • @VenomGT87
      @VenomGT87  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, you’ll need to bleed the front brakes after the install.

  • @83glxcrusin97
    @83glxcrusin97 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Just about every vid I've seen installs the line loc after the proportion valve, I want to go your route having it directly between the master and the proportioning valve as its less fittings and will be cleaner looking.. no issues with this setup to date? Just a bit confused as to why people go the other route. Nice install btw 👍👍

    • @VenomGT87
      @VenomGT87  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There are two ways to go about it and usually for the front setup you want it before the proportioning because after, it would require you to have 2 solenoids because the proportioning valve splits the fronts into left and right. Now if you are trying to do it the Aussie way, where it cuts off the rear brakes you would put the solenoid after the prop valve.

    thanks for the video....what brand are the tube bending pliers you used? i'm about to install mine in the upcoming weeks - so right on time! @VenomGT87  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The pliers I bought on Amazon, I couldn't find the same ones but they all look the same, as long as they resemble those I have, you should be good, they are really nice and sturdy and yes that flaring tool is a little pricey but trust me, the amount of tubing I have wasted because the el-cheap-o flaring tool slipped or marred the flare justifies the price on this one lol
