- This is my second video about building my custom PUMP IT UP MK10 (MK10v2) computer for playing PUMP IT UP PHOENIX and upward game mixes. Video is not perfectly edited, just shows how I build and test it.
With the assistance of my technical expert of our team: Kuchizuke, now I can finally build and test it. And I'm satisfied with my result.
This method only applied for: MK9v3 (MK-4161 of LX Machine), MK10v1 (MK-8171)

** BOSS_PIUVN PUMP IT UP TEAM OFFICIAL ** - เกม
For everyone who is looking to upgrade, or asking their arcade to upgrade their MK, please be aware that you should not upgrade your MK to “MK10” (H81 or H610) if you are running PIUIO in your machine. It will not work.
The PIUIO is a hardware mounted in the PCIe Slot on your MK and plugged in via 8pin USB (for the front panel USB connection).
The reason why it will not work with PIUIO, is because PIUIO only works reliably on USB 1.1 and the game's OS will force USB 1.1 connection for everything
Here's the problem: H81 and up no longer supports USB 1.1, thus the game will no longer boot because the dongle isn't going to be readable.
You will need to replace your PIUIO with an LXIO (ATXMEGA IO) and you need to have a JAMMA Harness adapted for the LXIO to connect your pads into.
That said, using the PIUIO is still a supported configuration in Phoenix, the minimum supported motherboard is a G31 that has been upgraded with a Core 2 Duo Processor & at least 2GB of RAM.
For broad version compatibility, I can recommend using G41 motherboard with the following specifications:
Motherboard: Foxconn G41 or Asrock G41-S3 (The Asrock G41-VS3 only works in later games due to difference in sound chip)
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 3.00GHz or higher (Intel Xeon L5420 is also recommended for lower heat)
RAM: 2GB DDR3 or more
GPU: Nvidia Geforce 210
This configuration, provided that it still runs properly (the fans and the thermal paste are still dissipating heat properly), will run everything from Fiesta 2010 to Phoenix without problems. You can also swap your IO to LXIO when you want to with this platform. But you will only be limited to Prime 2 and up.
When you upgrade your GPU to GT610+, GT710+, or GT1030, your compatibility will be reduced to Prime 2+ (and it still runs on the same G41 platform too so you can swap GPU around).
There's nothing stopping you from using the recent MK, the later Intel processors are more efficient and runs cooler than a Core2Duo, so that might be beneficial. But the IO compatibility is limited to the LXIO / ATXMEGA IO (plus the H610 won't run anything other than Phoenix, or later batches of XX drive, which is not common in the used market)

This method can be applied for those who has: LX MK-4161 (MK9v3), LX MK-8171 (MK10v1), MK-8171 (MK10v1) with JAMMA harness for older cabinet adaption (TX, CX below).
As you can see my video, my custom computer hooks with existing JAMMA harness from MK10v1. Minimum Requirement - has new PIUIO (ATXMEGA PIUIO or NOUVOTON PIUIO)
This video just for experiment purpose, at least it would help for people who try to replace computer parts.
Since I find it affect to in-game visual delay with audio-sync, so we decided to test and verify it.
Last but not least, for everyone who use the old MK9v2 with old PIUIO - and would like to upgrade. I'd suggest you should contact to ANDAMIRO or any arcade distributors such as ArcadeSpareParts to buy the new MK computer with new PIUIO (ATXMEGA PIUIO or NOUVOTON PIUIO) - as I mentioned on 0:24 (for best experiences and no issue so far)

my arcade decided to go on the H610 and phoenix is stuck on boot before restarting
so that means the PIUIO must be replaced...? :/ if so:
- is there a part number for that?
- must it be purchased straight from andamiro?
@@jsnvids if your machine is TX below, you could ask ArcadeSparePart or ANDAMIRO for getting a combo: new MK box with new PIUIO.
I haven't tested by plugging the old PIUIO to my custom MK10v2 to observe what's like. Since my mainboard has 4 usb port 2.0/1.1. And I'm kinda curious how it doesn't work for old PIUIO - unless you config bios wrong.
@@BOSS_PIUVN H610 will not work with old PIUIO, for reason I mentioned above. The motherboard does not support USB 1.1.
can the PIUIO be purchased by itself? because the arcade has purchased the new motherboard/processor/RAM

This video is so useful & I want to tell arcade staff to try it out. However, they're low-tech people & always tell us to give permission from them to build PIU cab but they say no anyway.

GG It's crazy that for old cabinets MK10 can be customized for old cabinets (FX, TX & CX). If it is under an FX cabinet such as (GX, SX, SD, DX) it can be used. But have to replace the monitor screen with HD

@FallenGD2008 If you mentioned about the graphics quality, it doesn't have any differences between MK computers, they're still the same.
Someday I'll have a piu on my room, but without the whole ass cabinet lol.
Hello from México, It's incredible that you don't have a cabinet but the most surprising thing is connecting the game directly from the television. How did you do it?
@kaitovelez6033 actually, we buy the old TX cabinet and scrapped into parts. For monitor, I replaced my smartTV - plugged directly to MK computer box and use it normally.
Because PIU cabinets are essentially regular PCs with a "controller" you can use with your feet. But the actual game is a custom Linux made by Andamiro, so it's quite nitpicky about the compatible parts. If you know about Hackintoshes, well, this is pretty much the same.

If I replace only the CPU, motherboard, RAM, etc. from the MK8171 in the LX Cabinet to the MK6171 instead of the Jamma+USB IO package of the MK6171 you purchased (or with the i5 build you posted), will it boot?
And does MK6171 support PIU XX?
@NEVSISTER I try boot my XX drive on H610, it won't boot.
@NEVSISTER yah, you could replace your existing LX MK10v1 computer box with H610M mainboard and new CPU like stock MK10v2, you can keep VGA 710. Because Phoenix is compatible with GT710/730.
The only thing you need to beware is the PSU power voltage based on your computer specs, because the PSU for MK10v1 only have 300W or 350W, so you have to calculate the power consumption based on your computer specs. If you could find yourself a flex PSU 500W or more - it should be good.
I have replaced my PSU to 500W, so I can run Phoenix with my custom specs
@@BOSS_PIUVNIt's a shame building a custom PIU is so restrictive. I want to build a MK10, but I want it also to use a mini ITX board, which is impossible.
@@BOSS_PIUVN Thanks to you, my LX Cabinet has been upgraded to the same performance as the MK6171. Even though it was not configured with i5 and the VGA and power supply were configured as is and upgraded to the same as the MK6171's factory specifications, the judgment line and loading speed were clearly improved compared to the existing MK8171. As for the decision line, I need to play a little more, but it has improved.
@@NEVSISTER I'm glad to hear that you use the factory specs of MK10v2. my MK10v2 has replaced with PSU 600W so that I can use cpu intel-i5 for long term use.
The in-game visual delay in PIU Phoenix is not consistent between MK computers due to hardware changes - so that's why you feel hard when you are trying get good scores. That needs time to adapt it (even myself)
is the software something I can get somewhere other than Andamiro directly?

that zotac 350 psu is a gold version ? you need use it for some energy economy (not only for that, but for no have problems with outages, MB stopping to function and your original hdd can be corrupted by eletric ripple (if you dont find gold version buy something from bronze-silver in 500 watts for security your system
We used that PSU only to test if the setup work or not, and recently we switched to 500W 80 Plus Platinum PSU for the setup.

I may be wrong but isn't G41-based MK-4161 is actually MK9v3 and not MK10v1? I had a feeling that all Socket 775 boards belong to MK9.
If I recall correctly, MK10v1 is an MK-8171, with ASRock H81 motherboard, Celeron G1840 and GT710?
Does MK10v2 it use the same IO board as the H81-based one, that shipped with LX cabs and Prime 2/XX?
mk10 and the rest is just short community names, that doesn't indicate actual hardware
LX cabs have newer io since beginning, they don't have jamma connector at all
You're correct. MK41 is MK9, MK10 is only MK81. Early LXs shipped with MK9 which caused confusion because they used new IO. But what we call MK10 didn't appear before XX release and it only runs 81 motherboard. Mk10v2 runs 61.
Difference is 41 motherboard still supports usb1.1 and SD modes while 81 motherboard only supports USB2.0 and up and HD modes. That's where we draw the line between mk9 and mk10.
@Refon94 If i know Mk10v1 use ATXMEGAIO, MK10v2 use new NOUVOTON PIUIO. But I have no idea, is there any differences between those 2 IO, because I don't have any sample to test it.
@HaruKaze I'm kinda confused and I don't know which common name should I choose for MK-4161, I know it's released on PRIME2 era with first version LX machine (MK9v3 or beta MK10v1).
Would the pedal's latency be lower if the pedal's wires were connected directly to IO instead of JAMMA? My current console doesn't have JAMMA, the pedals are connected directly to the IO. My IO is NOUVOTON PUMP USB IO.
If you are using LX machine, the pad wiring is different than other cabinet because they removed JAMMA board. I don't have NOUVOTON PIUIO to test if the latency is different than ATXMEGA LXIO, but I'd like to try :(
PIU can only run on this motherboard ?, well are possible to put some amd card on it ? if for nvidia is possible put 1050 or 1650 versions? because 730 too old hehe

With Phoenix and upward, game can only boot with GT710/GT730 or VGA from other old MK computer. AMD can't ofc.
Nvidia 10xx series can't boot either.

Yes, you can. Any cab can be upgraded to MK10 without any issues. The hardest thing when you upgrade to MK10 is that you have to find the MK10 with Jamma harness if you planning on using the LXIO. Otherwise, it would be a piece of cake to upgrade if you wish to continue using the PIUIO.
@@kuchizukeonly No, you cannot use the old PIUIO with the “MK10” (H81 or H610) like what is being used in this video. An LXIO is required and one needs to have a JAMMA Harness for the pads that has been adapted with LXIO’s pinouts.
The PIUIO is only able to work reliably with USB 1.1 so the game's OS will enforce USB 1.1 when a PIUIO is detected, the problem is, H81 and later motherboards no longer support USB 1.1 and the game will not boot because the dongle is not readable.
If you are using PIUIO, stay with G41. The difference is virtually indistinguishable from MK10 (we are talking of miliseconds to one second difference in loading times etc)

I know it's overkill, but at least it's better than Geforce 700 series.
Haven't tested that yet, but I think it won't work because PIU is limited with their own specs. Once I try 750Ti running XX with MK10v1, it doesn't boot the game.

I have GT 710 and GT 730 both those card already glitching. And to be honest it's hard to find Geforce 700 series because there's a lot of fake GPU card. And some cases from OEM like ASUS and the others, they using Kepler chipset (Geforce 400 series) in 700 series form.
