@@Swaygooy not only the engine. The notorious iDrive, sensors, electrics, servos, modules etc were all jokes in terms of reliability and durability starting with E65. BMW messed up appointing Bangle. By the time they realized it, the damage was done. Hence, new designers were chosen for 3 series E90 their bread and butter

I love that car. My only zone is....and this is me....is that I wish they would put the Euro standard tail lights to add the amber turn signal and break up the massive brake lights. That goes for Audi too. If I were to buy this I would definitely spend for the Euro tails

This beautiful "ULTIMATE DRIVING MACHINE" be amazing, well worth the price and like the look of the M5 last month was looking at some new Beemers love this model. If I got a BMW get the M5 when was little loved the BMW 323i think could had been model loved it to death had few BMW cars when was little in the late 90s and early 2000s at that time was crazy about luxury imports now going back to loving BMW again.
Awesome!! E39 M5 owner here for over 20 years. Would love to play with the CS. Watch the video of the M5CS totally destroying an 800hp Hellcat Redeye in every category. I would believe it would do the same to the wheel rear drive Caddy especially if its a manual.

As much as I respect the M5 CS and its very fast with its awd compared the CT5 V Blackwing. I have to choose the Ct5 V Blackwing because it comes with a manual while the M5 doesn't come as an option. I like the driving experience over winning in the stat sheets.
This is the only one for entire years made so good that BMW mechanics the whole manufacture loves it ! It’s beast,safe,reliable,like truly sick car ever made !
Honestly after driving the new M cars and the V, I'd take the V. It's nice to have AWD and definitely you get a faster 0-60 time but there is something about the chassis and steering that doesn't seem as nice as the Cadillac. It's like GM really studied the old M3 and focused on getting that feel nailed down whereas BMW softened up in the steering feel. The ride isn't as nice either, it's a little hard and jumpy in my opinion. In my opinion the infotainment is a huge backstep for BMW with the screen looking like it was an afterthought, and this is an area where Cadillac pretty much nailed it. There is the saying that something is more than the sum of it's parts and I believe this to be true. That said, I cannot blame anyone for picking the M5, it's a fantastic car and if the things I listed don't bother you, (which is subjective) it's a hell of a family car.
Agree & traded my M2C for a CT4V-Blackwing. The ride is much better in the Caddy & overall driving feel, but it’s asedan versus coupe. Both this M5CS & CT5V-Blackwing are above my budget, but equally nice.

At the track and particularly when pushing these two close to their limits, the V is much more predictable and communicative.Even though I've been hitting the track for around 30 years now I'm by no means a professional, but given the same driver who is a pro (Randy Pobst) my assessment is confirmed. In spite of coming with better tires and having AWD the lap times don't lie and the V is faster. However and in spite of having the better ride, I would not drive the V in winter or in cold wet weather. In this area I believe the M5's AWD and it's tires will play a much bigger part in making this practical, so if year round driving is a factor the M5 would be the better vehicle. Just my .02 pesos.
@HFG You have something to say or just being a fanboi? because I have empirical data to back up my claims like laptimes at different circuits and higher retained value for the V cars over the previous generations of M and AMG. There's a better score for NVH taken using a picoscope. Finally there's the undeniable reality of maintenance, reliability and cost of ownership which are not areas BMW excels at whereas the Cadillac has the benefit of 25+ years of evolution for it's engine making it rather reliable and easy to keep on the road. SO unless you have data, stop commenting in people's threads with stupid emoji. In the question of "which is the better car" taking out all the subjectives the answer is the Cadillac.

I love both, but I think that the CT5-V Blackwing will be more unique than the M5 CS because of its 6.2 L Supercharged V8 engine and the availability of a manual transmission which is nearly extinct nowadays.

Since BMW did their redesign in 2019/2020 I just don’t like them anymore. The previous generation was so sweetly designed, and you can tell by how many of them you see on the road still in pristine condition the popularity. That new grill just kills it for me

As much as i love manuals, I'd take the M5 CS all day, every day over the CT5-Blackwing. IMO, car of the year. But in all fairness, this isn't a very fair comparison because of the price points. The CT5 better compares to the M4C just like the CT4 better compares to the M3C. But at the end of the day, I'm still jealous af at the opportunity you have had to review this masterpiece of machinery. Great review as always Joe and Lori!!
The CT5-V blackwing is comparable to the CS because its quicker already around the track and has more HP than the CS. The only reason the CS pulls the numbers it does is because it has AWD. The Cadillac CT5-V blackwing has more torque as well than the CS but the rwd holds it back. You won't a find European car or sports sedan either the same price and performance as an blackwing. Both are great in their own way.
I aint gonna lie. If I had the money I would still get a Mercedes-Benz The best or nothing. That interior reminds me of what the civic type R looks like from the outside but from the inside boy racer.I would want something that looks aggressive but also beautiful. that’s what Mercedes-Benz brings motorsport learned and Earn at the highest level. I’m currently driving a 19 CTS-V which I think is one of the most amazing looking 4 door performance sedan. Trying to think what to get next and as much as I love the Blackwing it’s appearance doesn’t ring my bell. May go M5 next but I need a center console so the CS is out. Always question the reliability of BMW over time though. The V’s are bulletproof. I have time before I decide so I know I’ll be all over the map when it becomes decision time. In the meantime I’ll keep rolling sMiles in my V!
I Love my BMW, I wanted a SUV but once you drive a BMW it's like you have to get one. Don't need this $140,000 BMW. The BMW that cost $75,000 are just as good.
BMW M5CS all day any day over the Blackwing. German engineering is far beyond anything that comes out of the U.S. The price is right for a sedan that can go 0-60 in under three seconds. No competition (pun intended). Love your work and the work of your camerawoman. I would have liked to hear about the tech (lane keep assist? heads up display? cruise control?). Anyways most of us know that BMW is already a brand that is already "crazy" with all of their "competition" models, but if a "M5 Competition" is crazy, the "M5 CS" is insane. With a German V8, with 627 horsepower, and a 0-60 in around 2.6 seconds, plus it's BMW most power production vehicle *From a BMW, the freaking Bugatti Chiron 0-60 is in 2.4 second* . Besides all of the performance and carbon fiber added, it's still a luxury sedan from a "sporty luxury brand" with a prestigious German badge . Anyways what is your favorite performance mid-size sedan and "like always *ON THROTTLE* 😎. (Also quick question, what do you think about the new BMW i7/7 series or the "new" face-lifted X7?)

In this area I believe the M5's AWD and it's tires will play a much bigger part in making this practical, so if year round driving is a factor the M5 would be the better vehicle. Just my .02 pesos.

because I have empirical data to back up my claims like laptimes at different circuits and higher retained value for the V cars over the previous generations of M and AMG. There's a better score for NVH taken using a picoscope. Finally there's the undeniable reality of maintenance, reliability and cost of ownership which are not areas BMW excels at whereas the Cadillac has the benefit of 25+ years of evolution for it's engine making it rather reliable and easy to keep on the road. SO unless you have data, stop commenting in people's threads with stupid emoji. In the question of "which is the better car" taking out all the subjectives the answer is the Cadillac.

That said, if I had no plans to ever go to the track and these were both priced the same I might go with the M5 CS (also assumes I wouldn't plan to keep it post warranty!)
I love both, but I think that the CT5-V Blackwing will be more unique than the M5 CS because of its 6.2 L Supercharged V8 engine and the availability of a manual transmission which is nearly extinct nowadays.
I bet Raiti can talk about a Yugo and nearly convince you into getting one. Love how he gives a through description of the vehicle’s that he shows. 👍🏽 BTW, that BMW is 🔥 and I’m a Caddy fan as I have the CTS V-Sport.

Since BMW did their redesign in 2019/2020 I just don’t like them anymore. The previous generation was so sweetly designed, and you can tell by how many of them you see on the road still in pristine condition the popularity. That new grill just kills it for me

The bmw m5 cs is pretty good but I would go toward the Acura nsx type s since the body style looks better but the m5 cs still packs a punch!
This reply is why the m5 just isn't like a s6, cts v, etc anymore. It's so expensive and focused, the buyers see it as alternative to nsx, amg gt, aston martin

As much as i love manuals, I'd take the M5 CS all day, every day over the CT5-Blackwing. IMO, car of the year. But in all fairness, this isn't a very fair comparison because of the price points. The CT5 better compares to the M4C just like the CT4 better compares to the M3C. But at the end of the day, I'm still jealous af at the opportunity you have had to review this masterpiece of machinery. Great review as always Joe and Lori!!
The CT5-V blackwing is comparable to the CS because its quicker already around the track and has more HP than the CS. The only reason the CS pulls the numbers it does is because it has AWD. The Cadillac CT5-V blackwing has more torque as well than the CS but the rwd holds it back. You won't a find European car or sports sedan either the same price and performance as an blackwing. Both are great in their own way.

Very tempting, my favorite top of my list, this is a car that you can attend a high end function and then go to the track the next day.
I’m currently driving a 19 CTS-V which I think is one of the most amazing looking 4 door performance sedan. Trying to think what to get next and as much as I love the Blackwing it’s appearance doesn’t ring my bell. May go M5 next but I need a center console so the CS is out. Always question the reliability of BMW over time though. The V’s are bulletproof. I have time before I decide so I know I’ll be all over the map when it becomes decision time. In the meantime I’ll keep rolling sMiles in my V!

I like the Black Wing, But there is no comparison to a M5 Comp or CS, The M5 is well refined Sedan.
I Love my BMW, I wanted a SUV but once you drive a BMW it's like you have to get one. Don't need this $140,000 BMW. The BMW that cost $75,000 are just as good.

BMW M5CS all day any day over the Blackwing. German engineering is far beyond anything that comes out of the U.S. The price is right for a sedan that can go 0-60 in under three seconds. No competition (pun intended). Love your work and the work of your camerawoman. I would have liked to hear about the tech (lane keep assist? heads up display? cruise control?). Anyways most of us know that BMW is already a brand that is already "crazy" with all of their "competition" models, but if a "M5 Competition" is crazy, the "M5 CS" is insane.
With a German V8, with 627 horsepower, and a 0-60 in around 2.6 seconds, plus it's BMW most power production vehicle *From a BMW, the freaking Bugatti Chiron 0-60 is in 2.4 second* .
Besides all of the performance and carbon fiber added, it's still a luxury sedan from a "sporty luxury brand" with a prestigious German badge .
Anyways what is your favorite performance mid-size sedan and "like always *ON THROTTLE* 😎.
(Also quick question, what do you think about the new BMW i7/7 series or the "new" face-lifted X7?)
