People sometimes forget how popular Splatoon is as a franchise especially Japan. The Splatoon series sold over 30.51 million with only 3 games which is god tier for Nintendo. Splatoon is so popular that other popular games reference it, for example, the character Futaba in Persona 5 doesn't just look like Female Inkling, she is based on the Inkling, that's why her shirt has a red orange spot and why her spirit in Smash uses an Inkling

@@captain3sgf Futaba is one of the more developed characters in the Persona series. But she is also a character who makes a lot of references. from pokemon gym leaders to power rangers to even dragon ball she is very funny
animal crossing also references the games aswell, when catching squid and octopi, the species r referenced

Splatoon 3 story mode used the idea of that thingy in octo expansion to place it in their game, so we'll expect an elevator for splatoon 4, hopefully NOT and hope for a new like idea instead of reusing those idea's.
For Splatoon 4 I'm hoping for a Jukebox in game so we can listen to all the turf war theme's throughout the series while playing.

We know that Nintendo, specifically the Splatoon team, love references to the fine arts. I think with the name "Spiral" it's a reference to the Fibonacci Sequence/The Golden Spiral. It's commonly referenced in photography and classical art, and often seen in nature. Maybe they're going for like an "Inkling/Octoling Renaissance?"

Hard disagree. It frees up money usage for other stuff, and there is already too much to use coins on.
Definitely agree I like not having to spend my money on weapons and just use it on gear machine and shops
you can rack up a ton of lisenses pretty fast. PLus they encourage weapon diveristy and after a while you basically have infinite
They should return, just with more options to get them. Sure, encouraging the player to try new weapons is nice, but what if they don't like the weapons? Force them into playing weapons they don't enjoy? And yes, they could just refrain from playing those weapons and just get the ones they want, but then what's the point of the system at all? I think the best option would be to bring Sheldon Licenses back, but make it so that you can also buy them if you're willing to spend your money that way.

One of the things I loved Splat 3 over 2 it gave me incentive to keep playing with the catalog and special grizzco items.
Praying that they put the proper amount of time into Splatoon 4, and it should release in 2027 at the earliest. This is just a personal thing for me. but I want time to enjoy Splatoon 3 in its full glory before the next game releases, and I'm sure others can agree. Splatoon 4 also needs to be a huge step for the series, and it can't just be another game. They need to add new features, modes, and mechanics that set this game from the rest, in a way that attracts a lot of new players.
Hey, before you bash on Splatoon 3, just remember it's the only Splatoon game without Moray Towers.

S1 was a great hit in the underwhelming Wii U era, so S2 had to be in the first months of Switch's life to push the sales.
But for S3, Nintendo was probably considering a 2021 release, considering the 2020's new year post with the message "save our salmons". Probably a hint to announce the 3rd installment later that year, but we all know how 2020 turned up to be… So they pushed it back a year or so (that's just a theory of mine).
For S4, they are probably cool with a late '25 or 2026 release

Splatoon 4 should bring Agent 4 from Splatoon 2 back after mentioning them in Splatoon 3’s side order dlc. They should recruit a new agent for Splatoon 4’s story mode. “Starting today, you are Agent 5 of the New Squidbeak Splatoon”.

I think the agent's numbers is gonna be multiple of 3 4 8, in splatoon 4 it would be agent 6 which is a multiple of 3! So it would make sense.
It would have to be in numeral order, otherwise it would be out of line with the Agents who have been numbered by the Captain or by another agent. Agent 5 would be next then Agent 6.
I'm excited to see what a Splatoon 4 will have in store for the Nintendo Switch 2. It did feel like Splatoon 3 got a bit rushed just to get another Splatoon game out after the end of Splatoon 2.
If Splatoon 4 is really happening then here’s some of my ideas that could happen. In my opinion I would love to see both the Inklings & Octolings just a bit taller like maybe around 6 feet in height?, A new story mode revolving around salmon run or something else new entirely, and maybe bring apartments for the player to let their inkling or octoling stay in.
Overall if these ideas of mine don’t happen then I just really hope that Nintendo takes their time and makes Splatoon 4 a really awesome game in the end.

ive always wanted apartments too!! If splatoon 4 is gonna happen I'd love there to be more exploring in the city, and one of those locations in the city being apartments. I'm not sure what apartments would have to offer it would just be cool to see them. I also want to be able to use the subway, like maybe in splat 4 the city (if it even would take place in one) is more diverse, or some parts are over water, so you'd have to take the subway to get to specific areas of the city. ex: having to take the subway to get to the story mode or dlc, murch, etc. AND NEW SPECIES WOUKD BE SO COOL!! or maybe part of the story could be the inklings and octolings found a way or some sort of machine to help them be underwater, and theres some sort of underwater city, where we can discover new species and theress ome messed up lore? that'd be amazing as a story mode
these ideas might be too inconvenient tho bc the GUI for splat 3 is very user friendly, how with 2 taps you can be at the weapons shop, or customizing your avatar

I love splatoon and started playing on splatoon 2, and while 3 is deffinetly WAY better it felt so..... short? This is already the last season, and are there even ANY weapons with 3rd kits?
I would LOVE an open world Splatoon game where we get to explore the world of Splatoon while still retaining the core of Splatoon (we've seen so many stages that could still legit return and yet it's still left behind, like Saltspray Rig, what happened to it, or Moray Towers after most inklings have moved to Inksville, etc.)
Honestly, the thing that makes me curious about this game is who the idols will be this time.
Honestly, they put a lot of work and detail into the 3rd installment that I’d actually be a bit disappointed that they’re just going to end it here and say “your next Splatoon game’s coming out in 2 years.” Again, I’m sure if it IS a new Splatoon game, it has to have something to look forward to, and will probably be another exciting entry. (Note: S1 was codenamed “Gambit”, S2 “Blitz” and S3 “Thunder”, so “Spiral”sounds a bit strange to be a Splatoon game, but welp)

I feel splat 3 was realistically priced, at least for Nintendo. but after they stop updating the game, I feel like it should really be priced at 40-50 dollars. buuut on the other hand.., it does have *hours* of story mode (dlc+alterna) to offer, splatfests+big run, tons of accessories+weapons, character customization, hours and hours of gameplay with challenges, salmon run, ranked battles and turf war. plus, you would *not* wanna miss the last game of the squidbeak saga, *especially* if you were an og splat player, which was probably a part of their plan, lol. it literally has the idols from the previous games with alterna, and if you're willing to pay 20 extra dollars, side order with pearl, marina and acht! so honestly, I think splatoon 3 has deserved its price. (no spoilers for side order too btw I haven't finished)
personally, i do believe splat 4 will come out, but i think it wont just be called splat 4, maybe smt like “Splatoon: Worlds Collide” or “Splatoon: Clash of Colors”

I used to joke we would get Splatoon 4 before another Animal Crossing because I have a theory that the art team hates working on AC with how much furniture they have to make, the fact it might actually be true makes me sad :(
That makes no sense. Pocket Camp gets TONS of new furniture all the time. I just find it hard to believe. Making furniture is probably one of the more fun and interesting assignments as far as what probably goes into development of a game like animal crossing. I’m sure there are far more tedious tasks.
@JitterBob Pocket Camp is made/updated by NDcube (same team for Mario Party), which is not the same art team as Splatoon and Animal Crossing's mainline games. Liz England's "The door problem" gives a development pipeline explanation of what steps need to be taken just to make a door open and close in a game that does a much better job of explaining the annoying communication hurdles dev teams face. Yes the explanation is just for a door but this also applies to any game asset

But how is it already in production before the final fest? Surely if we follow the interviews on how they developed splatoon 3 they would make small little design plans until the final fest, where whichever team won would heavily inspire the next game
Not everything has to development after that. Things like short themes mechanics and new weapons can be decided before anything like that can conclude.

@@user-qu1nb5gn4v you are right, however some of the key parts about splatoon 3 now are heavily inspired from the final fest of chaos (and order as the dlc) in splat2. I think I should have worded my comment differently as I believe they could have started production, however, I think it will be a while till we are actually given splatoon 4 because the final fest hasn’t been announced yet and decided, so they would probably be in the super early concept designing stage where they create concepts for each separate final fest and what the world would look like *if* one of them won. Also I don’t think anyone wants Nintendo to give us a half finished game again with “free updates”for the same price as a full and finished game with further additional content. Which may be the case if we are teased splatoon 4 too soon.

You are right about Splatoon 2 final splatfest being the deciding factor for what Splatoon 3 really is, but remember Splatoon 1 didn't have that for Splatoon 2.
I'm expecting Splatoon 3 final splatfest to be about the 3 bands across the three Splatoon games fighting each other, Splatoon 4 could have a final splatfest that could help Splatoon 5, like 2 was for 3.
At the end of the day this is a 50/50 situation. I'm just speculating because the Splatoon 4 codename just got leaked and Splatoon 3 didn't have a new big mode like how Splatoon 2 created salmon run (I know salmon run is in 3 but I meant that 3 didn't create a new one).

I can’t lie, I will be a little annoyed if splat 4 releases any time sooner than late 2025- early 2026. Splatoon 3 has felt really rushed, and we need more time to sit on the weapons, maybe get a content extension, and just generally enjoy the game at the end for longer. Also, I don’t wanna spend more money on ANOTHER game, when it feels like only a few months ago I bought it even though I have had this from release. Also there are still things I, and other people, are still grinding to get and resetting out progress THIS soon feels unfair.

Considering the names ‘gambit’ and ‘blitz’ were also used as codenames in the series, this rumor/leak may be accurate. Personally it doesn’t change much for me, as I have already decided to forfeit my cash to the splatoon devs when 4 comes out. ✨

I had a feeling something like this will happen, since this is the last fresh season and I think there’s gonna be a few more Splatfests. Which, it does make sense and I believe will be supported until the next console, but it’s kinda sad that the game is over an year and half now.

This news has made my life better i first played splatoon 3 so im a begginer but after learning about 1 and two aswell splatoon is my newest one of my favourite top teir series along with metroid, zelda and more btw since we alr have the codename we ca tell the nintendo swithc 2 will come at the end of this year or the beggining of 2025 btw personly i hope ALL of the idols are agents in this game that would be SOOOOOOOOOOOOO cool and we could get two other spawn zones, deepsea metro and tower of order and we could ggo to all 3 ther spawns so we could have 6 maps in total

I'm thinking that the reason why Splatoon 4 development would start that early is for developers to develop the underlying code before developing elements that would be seen by players. As far as I know, some of Nintendo's internal studios may already have access to beta versions of the SDK for the next system.
(4:37) What wasn't shown was that in between Splatoon 2 and 3, "Animal Crossing: New Horizons" came out in 2020, and I know from a Reddit post a while back that the same internal studio develops both Animal Crossing and Splatoon, so there's a pattern of releases in 2015, 2017, 2020, 2022, and so the release year for the next Splatoon being 2025 could be likely, however with my prediction that Splatoon 3 is the last of the first generation of the series and the next game would be the first of a second generation, I'm predicting a release year of 2026 if more development time were needed, but 2025 would be cool as that would mark the 10th anniversary of the series.
Edit: I checked a page that listed development codenames for the Splatoon games and their expansions. (These would've been put in before elements seen by players were settled on)
The first game was codenamed ‘Gambit’, then 2 was codenamed ‘Blitz’, and 3 was codenamed ‘Thunder’, so yep, I think ‘Spiral’ is the codename for the next Splatoon game.
I highly doubt it’s Splatoon 4. It’s way more likely to be a ‘Splatoon 3 Deluxe’. Here’s why:
• They want to release it with the next console, which is coming out soon and they won’t rush another game in this franchise, they have learned their lesson
• It makes sense with how they would add stuff like third kits and more maps to the game
• They’ll earn more money from it. People who want more out of Splatoon 3 will en desperate for this and then not only but the deluxe game, but also the new console
• The next console is a new Switch, so having some games be deluxe versions of older ones makes sense
I just hope the catalog will be gone in spoon 4. I legit quit because of it and the pressure it gave me to play making it more like a chore

Look, S3 is a decently new game. I think that with Switch 2 launching, we might get a huge expansion pack that is essentially Splatoon 3.5 not a new game but a massive update.
for splat 4, as a a causal player who sucks but loves the game, we NEED different ranks so so badly based on how well you play. i’d love for there to be better match ups, easier story modes, etc.

I mean this is definetly too soon for a splatoon 4, a new season just dropped for splatoon 3 like 4 or 3 days ago and there are rumors of a content extension for the game at least in splatfests
On the other hand they could also get more weapons in the game as the past 2 entries in the series have had 3rd kits on some of the most popular weapons or the ones that needed it most with many of those 3rd kits being the most beloved of the weapon

It’s way too early for a new entry. We’re still behind several maps, weapons, and gear. I mean the season concept has really slowed release times and sizes.
I’m thinking of having more PvE games and maybe having CPUs in both online and offline, letting them use specific weapons to use in battles. And maybe have a splitscreen too.
I just want the same game with a couple extra features and more baked. I like the multiplayer :]

I think that maybe the 3 Splatoon games that we have are actually a trilogy for splatoon just like how Nintendo says, and that the next splatoon game will be part of another big thing with some changes to separate it from the trilogy we have now, so like a clean slate in terms of story and characters, but still Splatoon. Splatoon 4 needs these things:
20 maps at launch
All old weapons with 3rd kits + 3/4 new weapon types(so we have lots of stuff)
Salmon run mode that incorporates side order colour chips each round
New proper mode for ranked
New complete mode ( not smelly card game )
Cl I liked season updates- split the season updates so half the content at the start and the other half in the middle

I don't think we need new weapon classes, at least not 3-4 of them in s4. I'd prefer we get new main weapons in the existing classes. The reason shooters are so dominant is because there's just SO MANY of them with different stats and usecases. Make every class have that, and more classes will be more seen

I think Nintendo will bring back battle dojo, and I hope that Nintendo buffs umbrellas, and make Cuttlleings or Salmonlings (probably?), and we get a extra DLC on what happened to the Salmonids or more lore on the Great-Turf War and Octarians (we didn't get more lore about Octarians and that hasn't been fully explained why Marina, Dedf1sh was a soldier. But yet Shiver is a independent Octoling) stable serves Splatoon 4 takes place in Octo-valley, the idols are a Salmonling and a Octoling, and also more Amiibos about the previous games (Examples: Hypno-Callie, all of the agents (we had Agent 8 Amiibo, so why not?) Kimono-Marie, Alterna-Marie/Callie/Captain 3, DJ-Octavio, Purple-Octopus, Yellow/Green-Squid, Judd and Lil Judd, Inner Agent 3, Sanitized Agent 3, Final-fest Marina/Pearl, Side-Order Marina/Pearl, Octo-Expansion Marina/Pearl, and Cap'n Cuttlefish) Boss-fight figures (Cold-blooded bandit Shiver, The Eel Deal Frye, The Hype Manta-Storm Bigman, Side-Order Bosses, Octo-Expansion bosses, and Mr. Grizz.)

2025 would be a little too early for splat 4. splat 3 updates just ended, also, if Nintendo is supposed to launch the switch 2 next year, I think they should do the same as with splat 1 and 2.
i think "spiral" will be splatoon 4 for the switch 2. and i think it will either release along with the switch 2, or it will release sometime later in 2025 or 2026
splatoon 3 was... a bit underwhelming in a way? yes, it had a ton of improvements from the other games, and i really enjoyed all of the features and stuff. but i feel like nintendo was a bit lazy with some of their work. (they didn't even add league battles yet 😭) so i'm very glad that nintendo is already working on splatoon 4, despite not being completely done with splatoon 3. i think that it'll be pretty big, considering they're starting to work on it now

No matter how long it takes, I just hope they keep Splatoon 3 alive in the meantime!! I love that game so much and I don’t want the SplatFests and Challenges to end!
I really hope the Splatoon 4 story mode is the inklings finishing off what they started with the octoling and their war, killing the last of the octarmaments, bad octolings, etc with some of the agents we haven't seen considering there's at least 8. With splatoon 3, they added new random idols and fawned over their ugly character designs throughout the whole thing making it seem like something new that nobody could've wished for. Maybe for the multiplayer they could change it up too, considering it's been the same since 1.

I kinda hope that the Switch 2 comes out in 2026, with Splatoon 4 coming out then or much later. It'll give the game developers significantly more time to work on the game. It's supposed to be a new trilogy, so I think the devs have to draw in the player base like they did for Splatoon 1.
I hope they put more stuff in the lore or longer single player some people might hated it for it to be long I really like it the first one was eh the second one was cute the interaction with Marie was really cute the 3rd one tho man SO GREAT I REALLY love it I didn't play octo or order YET I'm planning to saving some money as a student ;-; but yea hope they follow up with more LORES

I'm honestly surprised that people thing Splatoon 3 was a filler. I'm not hating or anything, I just don't quite see it. This was the most lore heavy entry we've gotten in the single player campaign, challenges and seasons and big runs and even new stuff were added to splatfests, flipping it completely on its head. The point about not getting a new ranked mode is something, but last time they did that people seemed to really hate it (clam blitz), maybe they just wanna make sure they get it right next time idk. I'm just trying to understand. If feels like we got so much more in Splatoon 3 compared to Splatoon 2 than we did in the jump between 1 and 2.
