Jo!! I just did my makeup for the first time in two months and you're going to make me cry it all off! I am so unbelievably happy for you, I remember when you said you had just gotten the amputation and were hoping to get a running blade one day and now the days finally here! So so SO exciting 💜💜💜

Man this was such a sweet and honest video! As an avid runner, I can only imagine how great it felt to be able to run after so long not being able to do it. I did not expect to be crying at 1:27am! So happy for you🙂

That made me cry! I haven’t ran in over 10 years for the same reason. My amputation is in July and I am so hopeful to run. That is my “I’ve arrived” goal!! Congratulations!! I honestly know how much this meant to you!
i smiled soo big throughout the whole video, especially after you started running outside :D I am so happy for you, Jo, that you finally can start exploring something again that you wanted to for so long :)
Not gonna lie Jo, this made me cry like a BABY! I found your channel after watching your “goodbye to my foot” video, and have been following along with your journey since. I am so so happy for you, the joy radiating from your heart can be felt through the screen! Congratulations love, you so deserve this. Can’t wait to see what new adventures this brings!!
I just turned 30 in September, one month after my 27th birthday I had a massive stroke. It affected my right side of my body. My arm and leg just stopped working altogether. I have regained the use of my arm and hand. But my leg hasn't been the same :( I can go up and down stairs, go grocery shopping etc. But my ankle to my toes it was gives me the toughest time. I cannot move my toes, my ankle rolls all of the time if I'm on unlevel terrain. I have honestly considered getting my ankle amputated... your video sparked my interest many months ago and I started watching them because I guess for motivation? To see the struggles of living with a amputation. After watching this video I am seriously leaning more towards it. I started bawling when when you ran down the hallway, happy tears for you! I am so happy you are able to experience the freedom of running! A experience I hope to be able to experience again!
Not gonna lie, when you first like jogged while you were inside with the rails, I literally started tearing up and then when you were in the parking lot I lost it but in a good way, it's happy tears. I'm SO happy for you. I've been watching you since right around the initial amputation, I can't remember if it was before or after but somewhere near it. You've been such an inspiration for me. I have had trouble with my feet and one of my knees for years now and it really had me down. But watching you, how you're so candid about how you feel, all the ups and downs, you showed me it's ok to struggle with things like this but also that they do get better. I'm doing better now, not perfect, still very far from where I was before my knee injury and reinjury, but I'm better than I was and I'm actually able to walk for more than a few minutes without horrible pain. I know how it feels to long to get to do something like run when you have obstacles to doing it. But you did it! And I'm so beyond happy for you! And the BIGGEST thank you ever to Miss Anyka (sorry if I spelled that wrong!) For so very generously giving you your new running blade! Gah, so happy, can't stop rambling.... I'ma go now lol congratulations again Jo!
Just a tip when you're running Jo: when you land your forward leg should be directly under your body. I know it's a weird habit to get into but landing with your leg too far forward puts a lot of stress on your knee
Absolutely. Also, try to land on the ball of the foot and not the heel. This way you put most of the stress into your muscles (where it should be) and not the knee.
Haven't finished watching yet but that's amazing, we can see how excited / happy you are even before the appointment xD I'm so glad for you that it enables you to do something we, two legged people, consider (most of the time) normal to do without even thinking of it !
Wow dreams do come true :) I’ve just had my 23rd operation on my knee and now looking at an above knee amputation. Leading up to this I found your videos. Thank you for sharing your journey and showing that anything is possible when pain isn’t an issue
Oh man this is amazing! Had me crying. I'm so happy for you! Congrats! The joy is just pouring out of you! I Now that I think about it I wasn't capable of running til about 4th grade when I no longer had to wear AFOs for my Cerebral Palsy. But I haven't been able to run for about 7 years now when shit hit the fan at 28 and I developed post impairment syndrome among other things. I'm not a big fan of running(although the "high" and feeling of freedom is awesome which I didn't remember til I saw this video lol) but man do I miss hiking and skiing. Can't exactly amputate my hips or overly aged musculature🤣.
I'm so unbelievably happy for you! I only joined your channel last December but when I got to see you run across that parking lot I nearly cried. You're such a wonderful kindhearted person and I only wish the best for you
Hey jo you are super inspirational! I’m out in Maryland fighting for my amputation for a better quality of life. I love watching your videos when I’m having a bad day. Helps encourage me that it will get better. Thank you for what you do!
I'm in a much different chronic pain situation and it makes me so happy to see you get back the things you lost and get to do everything you want to! Congratulations, this is amazing!!
I have followed your journey ever since your first amputation and I vividly remember your moments of despair. Words cannot describe how overjoyed I am to see you being able to run after all the difficulties you've had. I am so happy for you! Keep on running, Jo 💜
Just watched this for the 1st time. I can feel the excitement you had doing this. I am above knee amputee and have finally got to the point that I now have a suspension system I can walk with confidence. I am learning how to skip now and next step will be the running but with the use of hydraulic knee. Keep up the encouragement you give to all of us all. Thank you for sharing your adventures
I have watched you since day one! I am an avid runner myself and there is nothing more freeing than a good run. I cried my eyes out watching this. SOOOO happy for you and can’t wait to see what comes next. ❤️
Watching you run down that hallway brought tears of happiness to my eyes! Your excitement for being able to do this is so much fun to watch. I am very happy for you! I think the name should be: Blaze!
I love watching this. When you didn't know what to do and the prosthetist said to do it like before and you said that you never really ran, I appreciated so much that I just get to jog over to someone and have all of these movements and moments come natural to me. I love how excited you are. This made me think that prosthetist must be a very rewarding job.
Dear Jo, remembering all those videos about phantom pain, new leg not working, new amputations... I am so, so glad to see you so happy! I wish you all the best
This made me jump for joy for you. Still waiting for my first prosthetic but watching you run I could almost cry. Awesome. So happy for you. 5K when ????
This video needs a LOVE button. What a blessed day this is! You ran! The spark in your eyes during the whole thing. I'm so happy for you! This is so amazing! Happy tears, much love!
Congratulations. I’m smiling like a loon here. And that’s how I thought of a name for your blade, Road Runner. Remember him? Wile E Coyote and Road Runner.
You have worked hard to be happy again and you have done it! Good for you and all of your true friends and the professionals that worked with you to get you there.
The song, "Chariots of Fire," from the movie of the same name just popped into my head!!!! 🤣🤣🤣 Seriously, congratulations on your new running leg!!! I'm sorry I can't think of a good name for the new addition, though!!!
Hey Jo, I'm really excited for you. As a runner I know how much joy it can bring you to run and I also know something about running technique as I've had to work on that quite a bit. In general it's obviously important to work on this with experts who can really see how your body moves in comparison to how it should move but there is one thing I'd like to call your attention to: the movement of your arms. I know it probably seems ridiculous to focus on that when you obviously have to focus on the movement of your legs a lot because this is such a new movement but the less you get used to a wrong movement the easier it is to change habits so here we go: I noticed that you hold your left arm really close to your side when you run and don't swing it back and forth. I've also done that because that way you can stabilise your upper body with your arm but you shouldn't do it. Swinging both arms the same amount is important to ensure that your upper body isn't rotating weirdly all the time when you run. I was told to especially focus on swinging backwards the same amount with both arms as I kinda just stopped the movement on one side when my arm was next to my body instead of slightly behind it. When swinging your arms it's also important to move them in a straight line next to your body and not swing them sideways so they end up in front of you (again this causes you to rotate your upper body). Hopefully keeping that in mind a bit will help you learn a good running technique from the get go but of course there is only so much you can focus on at a time, so I totally understand prioritising your leg movement over your arm movement.
You are soooo inspiring. Your energy and excitement is very real. I needed this today. Thank you for sharing. We need more people like you in our support group on Facebook. You amaze me. Keep going.
Congratulations!! And thank you!! Your happiness and enthusiasm are contagious!! Thank you! Also - from an old athlete - do every thing slower than you can. Take a long time to let your body adjust. Your muscles will get strong fast, but your joints and bones will take a lot longer. Go slow and you'll be running when you're old.
You don’t understand how proud I am! I started to tear up as I watched you run! Ive watched you for as long as I can remember! I can’t believe your finally running! Congrats! I hope you know how proud I am! 🥺🥺💓
You should call it *Spirit* from the movie with the same name. Running free was a huge theme of that movie.

Congratulations. I’m smiling like a loon here. And that’s how I thought of a name for your blade, Road Runner. Remember him? Wile E Coyote and Road Runner.
im crying, im so happy for you! seeing you being able to run so freely!
Made all of us cry this did, seeing your excitement is so lovely xxx
You don’t understand how proud I am! I started to tear up as I watched you run! Ive watched you for as long as I can remember! I can’t believe your finally running! Congrats! I hope you know how proud I am! 🥺🥺💓
Don’t ever tell Jo she can’t! Amazing to see. Amazing just amazing. Name your new leg, ‘Hope’. Never give up
I absolutely love that name, David. 😊 Thank you for that and your encouraging and uplifting words!!
