      @@radiationshepherd Well dog ownership is a long term commitment, just like having a child. If you are not willing to sacrifice your time to ensure the dog's best life per your best abilities, the only responsible thing for you is not adopting.
      Anyway, by the original comment I tried to say, there would be far less dogs in the shelters - not because more people would adopt, but more people would knew how to take care of their dog properly and wouldn't end up in the shelters at all.

      I dont think Zacs methods would work for alot of shelter dogs, most people train their dog to walk politely for more than 30 seconds too.

      @@radiationshepherd Do you think this takes a lifetime? Depending on dog and trainer, training can be done pretty fast and then it becomes routine as the dog has learned. Smooth sailing from there as long the dog knows what you want pretty much. It really ain't that hard. Especially when it is a dog that is eager to please.

    When I had my first Pitbull we were on a morning walk in a similar area, me with some flip-flops on wet grass
    as suddenly a bunny started running and my dog chasing after him. Before I could say a word I was like waterskiing through the park ,
    if I were 10 pound lighter he would had me flying like a kite on the leash 😁

    • @ChevysVixen
      @ChevysVixen 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Grassy water skiing is kinda scary when you ain't got no grip to stop yer dog.
      I had a dog that was like that with squirrels and he was a HUGE German Shepard that weight about 75-80 lbs solid muscle who I was actually (unwillfully yet knowing it gave him a better xhance if I couldn't be his forever home) training to be a police dog incase I had to move into a place that didn't allow dogs or let alone big dogs which can be hard.
      Well we went out for our morning walk and like you I had the following obstacles to content with to which I thought I was on the losing end of the game cause I was in flip flops, dewy covered morning but also heating up and squirrles EVERYWHERE!
      So out the door we went to the local park and everything was fine and he was doing awesome until that pesky squirrle got the best of his attention on me and his training and welp I never tried to stay upright so hard in my life as he was dragging me down a steep hill. My life, my after life and my future live's all flashed befor my eyes.
      Thankfully the squirrle finally found a treat to climb up so that my little ski party could end.
      After I got his attention I went back home and never walked without a good traction shoe again. But none the less it was a good training session for me. I mean I learned a LOT that day.
      I miss my big boy. R.I.P Big Bear. I love and still miss you every day.
      Oh he did find his forever home with a cop friend of mine and worked proudly for 7 years before he retired.

      I agree as well. We had 2 dogs at one point, 3 years in age apart. When the elder of the 2 passed away we planned on getting another puppy right away, to continue being a 2 dog house and give our dog companionship. Sadly our second dog passed just 1 year after the first, her heart failed so its likely she passed if a broken heart. She never got to meet our new pup. We have changed our plans on being a 2DH and will probably only keep the 1 for the time. Perhaps when we are passed the current puppy stage we will get another and be a 2DH again.

    I am a viewer and subscriber from the Philippines. Where I come from dogs like George are widely accepted by a lot of people that understand the breed, some of them are even seen as status symbols. But at the same time, they are also greatly feared by the general public for it's reputation as an aggressive dog that "locks jaw." The sad thing is that as a kid I was also taught that mentality by the people around me, that these types of dogs should be feared and avoided. Now that I understand the world better as an adult I now know that these dogs that I've grown to fear are such beautiful and loving creatures and that it actually just depends on how people handle them. I'd like to thank you Zak for opening the public's eye on dogs like George, your work is greatly appreciated. I hope George finds his forever home where he'll be happy and healthy for the rest of his days. I am loving this series so much! Never a dull moment with George. Keep up the good work!

The only thing that might be me nitpicking is to please be careful with how you use pitbull in the title. We have had to fight so hard against the public negatively lots of people might see the title and nothing else. A better title might have been "How to train a dog not to play rough with my dog" Again please know I think what you are doing is amazing and I feel like these videos are game-changers when it comes to the dog world. This is just a little tip from someone who been in the pittie world for 20 years.

    This is a statement of the obvious. Successful dog training is hard work. Your must be attentive, analytical, creative and energetic. Zak is very impressive and I'm glad Pit Bull George entered his orbit.

    I have a four dog rule. It’s not easy, they are all consuming. My Australian Shepherd/German Shepherd mix is the one who plays too rough. I really enjoy this new series, Zak, adopting an untrained dog, possibly abused/neglected dog, from the shelter and working with it/showing it love and a good life.

    My pitbull is so careful and almost timid when it comes to other dogs. It's usually the small dogs that are aggressive to him and him backing away. His name is Ajax he's a sweetheart even though he looks like a killer and you can see him at the picture on the left and our channel.

    I train/foster rescue dogs that have extreme issues. Last chance dogs. Also a fellow border collie fanatic! I just wanted to leave a message to say I've been watching your channel for around 9ish years now. I have consistently recommended your channel for years as one of the best resources for accessible, positive training. To see both of your journeys with all the dogs has been so heart warming. I love that you're doing these series rescuing more difficult cases. I think it's so sad as I have ended up with some of the best dogs from the most extreme ("apparent hopeless") cases. Thank you for doing so much to push positive reinforcement training and being a pillar for our community!

    One thing about pit bulls, and the reason people use them for fighting, is that they will do whatever you want them to in order to make you happy... even if it means hurting themselves. They are such lovable, loyal dogs and it kills me that horrible people use them for sport.

    This has by far been my favorite series!
    You've done tremendous work with George, Zak!
    You've given him a second chance at life that most couldn't or wouldn't do.
    My American bullies are much more challenging like George but I have a 4yr old bullmastiff that I've been trick training and I would love to incorporate more as he's so eager to learn and catches on within minutes! These are the tricks he knows so far and he can also read hand signals for them all aswell: sit, stay, down, up, paw, high paw, beg, sit pretty, roll over, hurt paw, tappy paws (looks like he's dancing),army crawl, speak, whisper, he can say I love you, bow, hug, smile, spin, dive(in water), jimping through hoops and there's a couple others I'm sure I'm forgetting but if you have any suggestions he's always looking for somthing more challenging!

    • @Silenced-mi2hr
      @Silenced-mi2hr 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      When you say for a pit: that's where I don't agree with you, I believe any dog has the potential to do anything. It all depends on the owner/foster parent/other of the dog. (Or other animal)

    • @SpringRain2010
      @SpringRain2010 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Silenced-mi2hr I agree any dog/animal has potential. (To pull or run ect.) and to learn anything. I think you perhaps misinterpreted what I meant, I was speaking of in my 20 years of experience of raising rescued and/or fostering & training pitbull type (if not trained when they are young) that a lot of them do have the tendency to pull in the beginning. Mainly because the are excited and want to smell, run and explore anything and everything. So do other types of dogs shepherds and boxers for example. They are big dogs strong and powerful so in watching Zak when George is pulling It is all so familiar to me. I know Zak is and has worked on this. I was just speaking from my personal experience with Pits (in particular). However every dog I have fostered and rehomed they all were well trained not to to pull but for some of them it wasn't easy getting them there. They are a very intelligent breed and really want to please their people/family. I already see that Zak and George are working very well on the pulling. I Hope this clears things up Blessing to you.

      Zak might reply but I remember an old video of Zaks where he mentioned choosing a Frisbee that doesn't have seams on the rim so the dogs don't cut their mouth on it. He also used to have a website he would direct people to for purchasing such a kind of Frisbee. I don't have the website bookmarked though :/

    Zak, you have got loads of patience and it shows when dealing with George. As we all know there are people out there who’s patience vault is lacking and George being placed in the wrong hands could possibly result in major correction being used on him. I am very happy that Zak has taken on this boy and will inevitably end up with people or a person who just can’t stop training him. This dog is gonna be amazing. I would love to see what he’d be like as a dock diving dog. He’s got the power, the body type (slick) and the desire to please. Wow, this series is coming to an end soon and lets all put ours prayers together and send out to the universe, the perfect match for George. Wherever he ends up, and with whomever , this dog has nothing but greatness ahead of him. Thanks to you Zak and Bree, along with Inertia and Indy , George is surrounded by good energy.
