WOW🤣🤣😂 PCGS REALLY FORGETABOUTIT LOL🤣🤣 First congrats on becoming a member to PCGS and happy you are sending those notes in. I think those are excellent choices of notes to be graded. I love that $2-dollar legal tender and treasury note. Good luck on the submission.
Thanks Big Apple! Yeah, I know - you're a PMG guy and you should be. Almost all of your notes are at the value where you need to go with PMG the preferred industry standard.
Those notes all look good and or have historical reasons fitting for them to be graded and preserved for history. I definitely welcome harder to come by notes to my collection in any condition too, so I at least have them. I do believe that you have made pretty good estimates on the grades of those notes, based on the grading section of The Book. Can't wait for the follow-up to see how they come back.
Thanks Timothy - I have what I can afford and I'm lucky to be able to do that. Hopefully I'm a bit conservative. I try to be. Based on what PCGS Banknote stated lead-times they should all be back by late October.
Thanks GD - it was interesting process says seemed looming but it wasn't that bad - grading the notes yourself is the biggest question mark. Appreciate the compliment!
Thanks Joe - it will be interesting but main thing is to get them in a holder for me - I hoping I'm conservative on my grades but at the end of the day it doesn't matter too much.
Great video. As a fairly new currency collector with minimal funds, I am looking for lower grade bills just to fill my collection. Your video has helped me with self grading my collection. Waiting on part 2 when you get the bills back from being graded and compared to your guesses. Thanks
Thanks. The hardest part of submission is trying to grade the notes yourself to attach a value. I'm actually comfortable with lower grade notes (VF 30 and below). Once you get to 40 and above that gets really tricky. Thanks to my budget that's not a big problem! The notes should be back by late October according to PCGS Banknote stated timeline.
Looking forward to seeing the grades when you get em back. I feel the same way, get your notes graded to keep them preserved. You sometimes get some heartbreak when you see the grades, but over all keeping them protected is the main goal.
Good Luck! I've read those PMG instructions also and came away shaking my head. Seems like a guy ought to be able to call them, talk to a human, ask what it costs, and throw 'em in the mail.
Agree - the main thing is the form does tell all and PMG should make that available so you know exact costs (to the best of your ability) before you lay out money. Thanks for the comment and we will see what happens!
Hi Dan! It is really really great video and complicated topic! At the moment I am not in the grading at all! And it will take some time! But one day I will try to grade some of our banknotes aswell!! Best regards!!!
Hi Dan, Enjoyed your video on getting your 16 notes out for grading. And you have so many good ones. Wishing you the best on all of them. I had 8 notes of mine graded this past August at the coin and currency show in Rosemont by PMG. I just got back the last 5 notes two weeks ago. They came back close to what I thought they would be and some got a higher grade which is always good. I can text you later with more details about it if you like? Take care. 🙏 Bill 😎
100% agree that PMG is the preferred choice. If my notes were up a notch or two in value I would have gone with PMG and waited the 4 months to get them back. But at my collections overall value it didn't make sense.
I currently grade 1000/1 at PCGS vs PMG. Pcgs turn around times and customer service is without a doubt the best in the business. You’re a bit harsh on your earlier type notes but I can agree with 75% of your assessment which for a collector is extremely knowledgeable. Great great video and you hit the nail on the head about Legacy.
A nice collection. I have most of them, and they're already graded. I do believe you undergraded most of yours some. I think a lot of them will have a little higher grade than what you're thinking. Hopefully i'm right for your sake. Good luck. We'll find out in a couple of months.😊
Mark - Yes, I am notorious for under graded. I guess I'd rather have the pleasant surprise? If PCGS Banknote holds to their published lead times they should all be back by late October. We will see.
Good luck on the grades. I have a note submission into PCGS they received on Aug 2. Here 6 weeks later they are still in the grading process. I hope to get back in next 4 weeks. I hope yours goes quicker. *Sidebar*. Gutsy on your part IMO to not send via registered mail.
Thanks GenX - according to their "schedule" on their website all should be back the last week of October...we will see. And as for the mail - yeah, I asked the Post Office person and they said that was my best bet with tracking and signature - basically anything can get lost!
Thanks for a very informative video! I really like the analysis you provided on why you selected PCGS over PMG. I'm looking forward to the reveal. By the way, just as additional information, if you have an ANA membership, PMG gives you a $15 discount on memberships. I thought that an ANA membership gave you full access to PMG, but I'm thinking that was some time a go. Progress?
If you're using PCGS-Banknote Section 6, "Banknote Details" third column from left side. PMG form is similar but it's section 9 and also third column from left side.
@@PolarCurrency Spoke with the VP at SPMC at a recent coin show and he indicated its was part of the PCGS/Legacy fallout. Possibly due to PCGS not having access, or maintaining a population report on their data through to 2019. I went to the Legacy site after your video, they too indicate that the Population report DB is ‘in-progress’.
Legacy Grading kinda fell off a little, not sure if Jason Bradford lost some credibility. He started to PPQ,EPQ designation, and has a partner,Donald Rinkor, who owns his own rare coin company. There is another grading company,CGA(currency grading authentication), which is the first company to grade notes. They started in 1998.But now, from my understanding, they're like the ANACS of currency grading.I guess being the first at something doesn't make it the best, lol Good luck with your notes
Thanks for the comment and the information. As for CGA...to be honest they barely hit my radar and I didn't consider even investigating them - too far off the currency grading reservation. I would compare Legacy to ANACS at this point. Legacy is a distant third but still has some credibility in my opinion especially with lower value notes. But high grades - have seen plenty of times were Legacy has been 1-2 points higher on crossovers.

Very enjoyable and informative. Thanks. I like your style.
Thanks for the kind words
I love the bison note and the battleship. Looking forward to seeing the follow up video.
They are great notes in any condition - Thanks for the comment Shawn!
Great overview and information video. Outstanding notes! Can't wait to see the grades!!
Thanks Ontario - interesting process to review the grading companies. They should be back by late October.
Good for you, love the channel and all the group discussions.
Thanks - and am lucky to be a part of them.
Fantastic info. Look forward to the reveal. Gday from Oz.
Hey back from Oz! We'll see what happens. I'm good as long as they get in a holder.
Great video! I think you were spot on with the grades. You were fair, realistic, and I bet you may get 1 or 2 pleasant surprises. 👍
Thanks Stu - I'm hoping but I try to be on the conservative side. I like pleasant surprises not the other ones.

This was a great introductory video to grading services and I have said it before, your video editing is first rate Dan.

Great video, like always. I can't wait to see the results. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge and your collection.
Thanks Jeff - and it was an interesting process looking at the different grading services. They should all be back by mid to late October.
AWSOME VIDEO AS ALWAYS THXS 4 SHARING DAN!!👋👍
Thanks Perry - it was interesting going down that rabbit hole of comparing the grading services.
Love that Battle Ship. Good luck
It is a great note - thanks RNR!
Thats great you're doing your first submission! Best of luck on the grades, looking forward to that video

I personally think it’s fantastic. Now how people react…no idea.
LOL! Thanks!
@@PolarCurrency I don’t know how the PMG lovers will take your point of view 😂 I don’t know if it’s the same as CACG vs PCGS 😱
@@massabesicgoldandsilver I have to say thank God I like Dan b/c those are fighting words PCGS VS PMG really and he goes with PCGS really. 🤣🤣

@@PolarCurrency I sure will. Next week I will gather them and let you know. 😎👍
You gave me hope I will do the same someday for my collection. Its seems such a laborious process 😅
It is not a quick process and laborious is good word to attach to it. The real thing is grading your notes to provide a "value". Thanks 4Kollector!
Thank you for sharing Dan, I have never submitted anything, good luck on your grades, hope they are higher than expected, Keep Stackin Bro
Thanks and my first time and it wasn't that scary! Will keep on keepin' on!

But the BIG question, no pun intended, is: does PCGS really have a t shirt BIG enough to fit you?
They did have the size: circus tent so I'm good!
