I've used your BBQ paint idea and have been passing it on to others (with credit to you). Based on my late Father's personal WW2 experience (8th army 1939 - 1945, service corps ), the best 'field kitchen' hack was 2 Italian POWs running the company kitchen. Dad's company was the best fed in any of their camps. Brit officers never found out.
That seems a very nice pot - 1 qt is just the right size for one person. Painting it black does not only help with the cleanup, it helps reduce the boil time too - steel reflects the heat, the black paint sucks it into the pot. Thanks for showing.
Well the trash can didn’t say anything about not painting all over the top 😂. And Brutal man .. sandpaper right to the pathfinder logo right off the start !
Blackie, Great Video and Information Thanks for Sharing. I always appreciate your tips and tricks on how to improve things and make things easier and more comfortable. Thanks Again. Tim L.
I like that little pot. I've never been a big fan of advertising on the side of my gear. Something in me thinks that if you're gonna put a big logo on the side you ought to pay me to display it.
Can also use a thin silicone straw for the bail and handles, when I was a youngster we would take a bar of soap and rub it on the outside of the pot for an easy cleanup…also can acquire those little silicone cup adapters so you don’t burn your lips on the hot metal…
I've long painted camp cookware with flat black BBQ grill paint. Wasn't worried about the cleaning aspect but instead found that it absorbed heat better and was non reflective when I wanted to be stealthy/sneaky in my choice of camp sites...
Hello Blackie- Thats a nice little bush pot. I have one similar by Pathfinder and have considered painting it as you did with yours. Cleaning soot off anything is dirty and Ill probably go this route and do 2 of my army canteen cups at the same time. Thanks for the advise as always and you be safe in your adventures.
Great tip on the paint and soot. I just got one similar to that with a small steamer insert in it. I plan to put it in my get-home-bag with my little alcohol stove. Excellent tip on the meal prep. I'm going to try that too when I got out to the beach soon. Just a tip. I got one of those expensive Evernew DX titanium stoves. It can work with sticks too, but didn't have a fire plate to stop the ground from burning. I took a clay planter pot saucer and created one for it. I don't think it will burn the ground but I'll see and let everyone know. Take Care and Stay Safe, y'all.
I have a lot of friends that do civil War reenactment. On the black paint, Mors Kochanski said black pots heated quicker.. what is your thoughts on that?
Black Paint: A dark surface also absorbs heat more efficiently that a reflective surface. Think space blanket.....the reflective side bounces heat away. Black leather car seats.....to hot to sit on in the summer. Same idea.
Blackie I do the same thing but I fix my breakfast then I fix my lunch then I fix my and pack it all into a ziplock bag and and haul it out to the woods
Why? Other than getting rid of the logo. Let the fire do its work. I dont like the smell of burning paint.personally. i get it now spoke to soon... Nice container tho..
Hey Blackie just wondering if you considered the Fire Maple Antarcti 1.2 camping pot with lid , compared to the pathfinder version? I have both versions. There are slight differences between the two . Just curious on what your thoughts are on the Fire Maple Antarcti would be ? If I had the funds I would send you one but unfortunately I don’t . Love your channel BTW 💯%👍🆙
more cooking videos coming soon
Hi Blackie, thank you for your time to make these videos. Muchly appreciated.

Additionally, the black paint allows you to use in a solar oven. Out here on the left coast fires are almost always illegal.
it would be a plus in a solar cooker to be sure
Good tip.
thanks
They are nice I’m happy with mine

@@BLACKIETHOMAS - I'm certain boss. I've never seen you to be one to drop a yellow stream into someone's Wheaties - at least public persona wise. 👍

Hi Blackie to wrap the handles use plumbers self amalgamating silicone tape, needs to be applied under tension 😇
good tip thanks
great score❗👍🚂🇺🇲

Do like a nice Billy Pot. Have a stainless steel pot with a spout that would benefit from your sanding down and BBQ paint. Great stuff!!!
thanks for watching
Hi Blackie, I have that same Pathfinder Bush Pot. Very nice. 👍
i really like the size of this one

i really dont like the flash of the shinny pots to me dark is more natural i guess
That heat paint tip was great! Thanks!

I’ve been thinking about getting one as well. It’s a perfect size for me.
i really like the size
I got one of these when they dropped. Waiting for SRO to come out with waxed canvas bags for it, and the new 10" skillet.
I’ve got that same little pot u will live it not too small not too large
yep good size for solo camping
Nice mucket

Another good video. Did I miss the full weather one that you were going to do
i have not gotten it yet
And I thought all I could use BBQ paint for was painting my muzzle brakes…..😂
it is multi use lol

yep it is not scientific but to me it make the pot cook better less hot spots
@@BLACKIETHOMAS Hiram Cook actually proved that to be un true, water did not boil faster in a painted black pot, compared to a non painted one.
OH! OH! New toys! We Olde Fartes have to keep our internal little boys happy. 😏
