    *I'm always happy to point you in the right direction regarding questions about Adobe Captivate. If you need more than a simple question answered, you can purchase a one-hour one-on-one session with me at **bit.ly/Cp1on1**. If you only use some of that time, that's okay. You can bank any unused time (15-minute increments) for future sessions. For example, if you use 30 minutes, you can use 30 minutes later.*

    How do I record my own voice and add effects to it before adding them to the video as part of teaching an elearning course.

    • @CaptivateTeacher
      @CaptivateTeacher  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well to record your voice on each side you press the large red microphone icon on your Captivate toolbar. You need to record a seperate recording per slide. You can export your audio to another audio application if you wish to add effects.

    • @CaptivateTeacher
      @CaptivateTeacher  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also make sure you select the slide and not one of the objects on your slide first. The record microphone icon will record your audio attached to whatever you have selected.

    How to I link from one project to another project? Basically I have a Table of Contents project from where I need to open 5 modules in their own projects. I tried "open another project" using the cptx file and url or file referencing the index.html file. I cannot move back to TOC

    • @CaptivateTeacher
      @CaptivateTeacher  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      While you can link from one Adobe Captivate project to another this is really a one way street. If you are using an LMS it's better to publish your two or more projects as stand alone modules and place them both within the same course shell on your LMS.

    Paul - this is amazing. I feel silly for having found these videos so long after you've posted them! As for the music, does TH-cam allow for anyone to use the music, even for commercial use? For example, if I'm creating trainings for my company. Or is there some kind of licensing agreement on the music found on TH-cam that it can only be used for videos posted to TH-cam?

    • @CaptivateTeacher
      @CaptivateTeacher  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      The short answer is you can only use these songs if you intend to publish your project to TH-cam (just as I do for all my videos). Here are the actual terms and conditions for the user of the TH-cam music files.
      Your use of this music library (including the music files in this library) is subject to the TH-cam Terms of Service. Music from this library is intended solely for use by you in videos and other content that you create. You may use music files from this library in videos that you monetize on TH-cam.
      By downloading music from this library, you agree that you will not:
      Make available, distribute or perform the music files from this library separately from videos and other content into which you have incorporated these music files (e.g., standalone distribution of these files is not permitted).
      Use music files from this library in an illegal manner or in connection with any illegal content.
      Additionally, some music files from this library may be subject to additional requirements as set forth in the library (e.g., attribution requirements). You agree to comply with such requirements when you use music from this library.

In the meantime I have been offered many clients one on one coaching and mentoring with their Adobe Captivate development. You can visit my website here to get current pricing on my consulting services: www.paulwilsonlearning.com/new-products/consultation
      What has worked in the past for my clients is for them to accumulate some specific needs or questions and then simply purchase an hour or two of my time (as needed) and then we can schedule a call or you can simply ask me a series of questions for me to answer, etc.

    where the hell is text to speech ? is it still part of the software ?

    • @CaptivateTeacher
      @CaptivateTeacher  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Pick a slide where you wish to add text to speech. Next, click on Window > Slide Notes. Look for a little icon with "T" and a speaker. Click on that icon to open the Speech Management window for that slide. Next, click the + icon to add a passage of narration. Next to the selection, you can select the voice you wish to use. Finally, click on Generate Audio to render the text to speech. If all you see is the default Microsoft voices or the ones that come with macOS you should see a message at the bottom of this window that states You have not installed Neospeech voices. You can install these voices from the installation DVD or the download site (the link is next).

    It’s 2020 and Captivate 2019 is still as slow as the version (8?) that is shown here from way back when in 2014. What. The. Funk. I’m on a four-core AMD Ryzen and I really feel like it should be flying. It ain’t. I’m new to this program, but I’ve got over 25 years of experience with Adobe’s creative tools (Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign) and, with the exception of heavy duty filters, and running actions, I’ve NEVER seen any of those programs slow down when switching between tools. If I wasn’t required to use this for work(!) I’d just use After Effects to make these materials. This is an abomination on a grand scale, and I feel terrible for the other people that use it daily. It’s like abandonware in its wonkiness, but it’s still getting upgrades! But it lacks so many of the little productivity enhancing benefits that the creative suite has. Okay, example time. I need to change all the TTS slide notes to red to differentiate them from the CC text in handouts. But is there a way to change them all in one fell swoop? NO. I found that opening the Speech Management window allows you to see all the slide notes in one (non-resizable) place. But conspicuously missing are the controls for text attributes. A completely missed opportunity. Another example: I want to speed up a screen recording because I typed too slowly. Can you do that? NO. Can you grab a quiz response three down in a stack of them? NO. I used SnagIt to record Captivate’s screen. It saves an MP4 file. (Also, it was 20 frames long and 193kb) I imported it to a slide and previewed, but it crashed Captivate. I thought, maybe it doesn’t like the format. So I used Adobe Media Encoder 2020 to produce a series of test files, each of which (AVI, MPEG2, m4v, and h.264) failed spectacularly in the same way. The only thing that did work was to bring it into an After Effects project and re-output it. Worked like a charm. This sad, sad program gets no love from the developers. It galumphs along, switching from one tool to another in a flurry of pauses, like a DOS program running a stack of executables from a menu screen. I’m going to soak my head now.
