      @James Smith as they should, afterall they can eat from getting paid nothing :-) but considering what a superior and better performing architecture you get with them compared to Shintels crap, accepting the commercial way of thinking that you get Wraith Prism for free is kinda nice way of thinking about it :-). If nobody minda getting it for that price along with the superior cpu, then the sales are succesfull and everybody is happy, the consumer, AMD and Cooler Master that makes it for AMD :-).

    • @lflyr6287
      @lflyr6287 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @James Smith sorry to say, but your personal opinion is slightly if not strongly a product of thos 5-6 years of Shintels dominance in the market and what reviewers were consequentially accepting what quazi is right and portraying it in their not knowingly biased videos. Unfortunately for Shintel the tides have almost completely turned for 180 degrees around and there is a new leading manufacturer in town now....and if they commercialize it as a free added bonus (despite the fact that logically they factor in the cost of it) we consumers, considering how much we already get from Ryzen cpu-s, are gladly accepting the illusion that Wraith Prism is free even if economically it's not. But the fact of ZEN perfomance in general and how superbly well Wraith Prism cools them it's only natural that it gets all the praise it deserves and more :).

Was loud as a jet at first and seemed to throttle up and down constantly, with bios at normal (clock was doing 3.7 base, stock voltage seems high with this chip). I moved bios to performance (clock runs at 4ghz base now), pulled my case fans off the cpu and set to MOBO and added smoothing at 5sec. My PC runs crazy quiet now. At first idle temps were 52-56, after adjustments I mentioned idle temps are around 41-46. I have a good corsair tower and am running 4 case fans (can add 3 more), two 140 intakes and two 120 exhaust, board never goes over 40, usually remains in the 30s.

    Debating between using the Wraith Prism which comes free with the Ryzen 9 3900X or buying the $60 Noctua NH-U12S which has heat pipes, a fan that blows air to the back of the case (the exhaust) instead of directly on top of the CPU cooler, and has a slim profile.

    i've been using prism with 3700x, precision boost enabled +200mhz setting. With my old bios 0702 its been quite noisy, updated to new bios 0803 and it's a lot better. Cpu now uses less voltage making it more silent, however i will upgrade to beefy air tower because i value silent operation of my pc, also with prism cooler fan rpm used to jump back and forth very frequently making it very irritating. So i'd say it's good enough (amazing for a stock cooler, especially comparing what intel offers, IF offers) but for my needs it's not enough in terms of noise. Looks cool though.

    I'm a bit fanatic about cooling -- so I replaced my Prism on my 2700X with a Dark Rock 4, a substantial improvement.
    I didn't toss the Prism though; it wound up on my daughter's R5 1600. And her Spire ended up on my son's 2200G.

No overrheat in either case and sure with better coolers both would probably do better the fact the box coolers of both do so well is a good case for why intel needs to learn from AMD and cooler master on how to make an awesome stock cooler.

    I am doing a upgrade, so have one of these.
    Now I have a stock (new old) dual core skt 939 cooler. Apart from the fan size, the copper is thicker on the old one over the new and it's a better finish.
    I weighed both and did a side by side. When I was a partner, there was talk about the costs of coolers as the heat went up.
    I think it would be great if you could buy without coolers more easier. I can get OEM and save a fair amount on limited processors and really I don't need them as I have a whole heap of AM cooling from air to liquid.
    I'll be doing some tests on various ones from back in the day as the heat was much higher that today.
    It's just a matter of fitting, but I have a lot of backplanes.
    Nice to not have, and haven't ran this on my system yet.... Few minutes to go.....
    I'm using a HAF case, so cooling can really depend on the case by a lot.

    It confuses me that you're showing test data with the 3600X which does not have this cooler. Of course results will be different for CPU's that actually ship with this cooler.
    I'm using it on the 3700X and while performance is OK it is actually really loud when the CPU is under load.
    I'd say the cooler is just OK but there's definitely a benefit in replacing it with a better one if you want to max out performance or reduce noise.

      @StreamerGeo On high CPU loads the temp can go over 80 C. On prime 95 I've seen the temp actually hit 95 C and the CPU throttles. On less heavy workloads like some games temps are lower of course. But the fan spins up and down a lot during normal usage and on higher RPMs is pretty loud.

      @StreamerGeo I Feel your pain ;-)
      That's why I thought it was bullshit to test this cooler with a 3600 like the creator of the video did. It will not generate the amount of heat a higher tiered processor will so the cooler will look way to good as a result. Misleading video of you ask me.
      I got a AIO from MSI as part of a promotion but I'm still waiting for them to deliver it. (Been 6 weeks). I hope that will help, of not I'm replacing it with a quiet CPU cooler. Or maybe just replacing the fan will be enough. Also you can set a bios fan profile to keen the fan at low speed under 60 C or something. It will still be loud but it won't spin up and down as much and cause annoyance.

    • @rajackar
      @rajackar 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @StreamerGeo Ryzen master software shows the limit as 95C. And I can actually hit that on prime 95. Also the Ryzen CPUs are very sensitive to temp as they boost higher if the temps are lower. So there is a clear benefit to keeping your temps low. And it's also better for your ears haha.

We don't even let ours call the Fire tablet hers since she will just sass us and say "its mine, I can do what I want" when we say she has had enough for the day (plus both of my kids share it). I upgraded my powerline adapters in my house and can now stream to Steam Links from my main PC, so was going to chop up 2 of my HTPCs + some spare parts I have into 3 separate PC's to sell off, including a 2200g build I was going to slap a spare Prism on. Maybe I will consider making something for the kids to use. Though I still have another 2200g build in an InWin BQ656 (variant of the Chopin) that I won't sell off yet, put too much time into delidding it and messing with settings to push the performance with next to no cooling, however, the Prism won't fit in that unless I cut a hole in the mesh panel but then it will look pretty goofy.
      Speaking of kids and PC gaming, if all of my kids get into PC gaming, Steam's family sharing only allows one user to play any game in a shared library at a time... so will be a battle between the kids.... and myself, ha. Maybe only one will.

    Got one of these for just $9 bucks used online to replace the Wraith Stealth on my 1600Af. Temps were 83 max while running Cinebench, with this the highest it got was only 60! It didn't come with the RGB cables but the lights still work, you just can't adjust them. But yeah it's a really solid cooler.

    Thanks for the video! I just built a 3700X for a friend and this video convinced me that we'd keep the Wraith Prism cooler on there. I have ordered a 5900X for my new rig and I will pair that one with a Scythe Fuma 2.

    my dude, it also comes with the Ryzen 7 2700x... a simple google search or visiting their site would have helped with your facts.. :D

    I have a 2700x paired with the stock cooler and noise is no problem for me. As soon as I got into the UEFI I set the fan to 100% and I did try to overclock the 2700x to 4.3 ghz. It was semi-successful because when I performed a stress test in Cinebench R15, I got it to run stable the 1st test and if I waited around 30 seconds or let my cpu temps lower to around 50 degrees Celsius and ran another stress test, it did not crashed and was successful again. Though, if I did one stress test, finished the 1st test, and than did another test without waiting for my cpu temps to lower, I would crash because trying to run the stock Wraith Prism at 4.3 ghz is already a struggle hitting around 80-86 degrees Celsius, but the annoying thing here is that for some odd reason there is a penalty on the 2700x and that is the maximum temps before crashing is 85 degrees Celsius. The reason why I am calling this odd is that the 3700x, 3800x, or 2700 does not suffer from this penalty having a maximum crash temperature of 95 degrees Celsius. Could the 3700x and 2700 get away with a higher maximum temp because they both have a lower TDP of 65 watts (3700x) and 95 watts (2700)? Though, if this is true, than how can the 3800x, 3900x, and 3950x get away with a higher max temp of 95 degrees Celsius while still having a TDP of 105 watts?! I think the 2700x is the only Ryzen chip to have an 85 degree max temp with an 105 watts and that is kind of annoying for me. Is there a way of setting the maximum temperature to 95 degrees Celsius on the 2700x in the UEFI, or do I just have to get an aftermarket solution like an aftermarket cooler or an AIO because for some reason I just like having a down-fire cpu cooler with RGB. Please tell me if you do have any knowledge about my situation on increasing the max temp or maybe even an aftermarket cooling solution. Thanks.

    I have the 3600, not looking for anything fancy or overclocking. Where I live, I do see it hit 80degrees under full load. RGB and with better cooling, I think this is a good buy.

    Without the cables, it is not stealth, I had to plug in the USB 2.0 header to be able to turn off the RGB effects. I do appreciate that they let you address the ring, fan, and logo separately.

      AffanPlays sound like it if it’s legit. Mine came with my cpu, but I like the Wraith Prism so far

    Will the cooler work fine with the 1600 AF and if it does how much does it improve overclooking wise?

    I'm using the Wraith Prism on my 3900x for now. The first thing I did though was wiped off the stock thermal paste switch over to using Arctic, because I was reading around that the stock paste practically glues itself to the CPU once it's applied and gets hot. Last thing I want is to damage a $500 from my clumsiness.

    I got the Arctic 33 eSports One (the previous version than the one shown and with just one fan) cheap when I bought my Ryzen 1700. So I definitely have a better cooler already. But I guess that if I choose to upgrade selling a 1700 with a Wraith Prism it's a value add that could make it easier to get a reasonable price for the old one.

    I've been using the spare wraith Prism cooler on any Ryzen 5 CPU's. I would personally recommend a beefier Air or water on Ryzen 7 for best results. Thanks Hoosier for the video review on the Prism.

    Put the prism on my 3600 with some artic silver paste, I got a good little cooler with rgb for £16. It's almost as good as off market coolers that cost double that and you have that rgb option to.

    I'd like to know how difficult it would be to remove the Fan/RGB top piece from the Heat Sink?
    I have an idea for the custom loop I'm getting ready to do and I'm wanting to use bends in the Hard Tubing to support just the Fan section of the cooler. Making it look like I've turned this into some type of Hybrid Prism/Water Cooler. So if it's fairly easy to remove the Fan Section from the rest that would be awesome. I'd prefer not to have to buy one to find out if it can be done as I won't be buying a CPU that it is included with. Thanks if you get to this I realize I'm late to the party here...

    I live in the tropics, and the fan was loud all the time. If I turn on the AC it would quiet up, but at room temp 88° F it drive me crazy. So I switch it for an AIO 240mm. Its a lot better now.

    i bought the 3900x 3 years ago that came with this cooler and used a triple fan closed loop cooler instead of this but saved the wraith and glad i did it was a life safer to get my pc back up and running withing a few mins when my water cooler broke down, doesnt keep it as cool but does the job will prolly just stick with it till i completely rebuild my pc in a couple years.
