Great step-by step videos. This probably one of the reason I would never buy a Audi-VW. Can they just stick with regular hex bolts? That mixing between all those Torx sizes just drives me nuts.. This is ridiculous that you have to take the whole front end apart to service the car. I've seen people event draining the A/C system..
AT 6:14 you removed the radiator hose then, AT 7:10 it is back on..... where you planing to clear out the whole area including the radiator, and the changed your mind? am I right.
I changed my Cvc axls because my car keep showing the abs light and we old get a weird stick n shake and as I accelerate it got better. I noticed my left turbo hose was off. Anyways I'm not a mechanic. I replaced both airbags and now I have no clue how to put it back together right. One tire site a little left and the other one right. I'm looking for someone to fix it. It's a 2003 allroad 2.7 V6 twin turbo. Can you let me know if your willing to fix it I'll bring it down to u.
My car needs a new water pump but while I was checking it, I noticed an oil leak coming from an L-shape piece near the dip stick, I am not sure what is called, not sure if you would be able to tell me the part name. I have done some done work on my 2003 Passat but this one is new.
Just did this, but couldn't get the 18mm bumper bolts and nuts loose (2), was able to just remove the 3 torx T-45 and 1 10mm nut from each size, got it off no trouble! 2001 2.8L V6. Had timing belt failure on the highway (replaced belt 40k miles previous), so trying to get in and rebuild the top off of the engine.
Hello, thank you for posting these videos! I'm about to perform the same thing. I was wondering though, do you recall what size the nut and bolt are for the metal bumper? I'm probably going to have to buy two wrenches for this step as I do not have any larger than 17mm.
Good project car when you replace the bumper clip and grill, do the timing chain, water pump and thermostat at the same time . $2000 fair market project . Mines lowered handles nice but not so good for winter snow banks. Inline 4 cyl turbo hemi great idea for motor. Fun little project car . Wagon go-kart, lol
HI, can you send me the link showing how to remove the front part of the car to replace the alternator? i have a 2002 VW passat 1.8l front wheel drive. thanks!
Hello i have a question. My 04 A4 1.8t fwd timing belt just snapped before acceleration, around maybe 5mph tops the belt just snapped and lost power. Is there any chance that i could have bent the valves in the car? Also how do i put the cams and crank gear both in time again? Do i move the crank gear to tdc first lined up to itself on the timing cover followed by lining up the cam gear to its mark seperately or do i put the belt first on, apply tension and crank both of them to tdc? Kinda confused bout this. Do i lined them up seperately to their marks or do i apply the belt first then cranked them up to lined in their marks? If u can show me how or guide me step by step, Any tips or suggestions would be appreciated. Just wanted the car to run again, hoping did not damage internally when the belt snaps. Let me know. Thank you! Been watching your vids alot and learned a lot of tips from your vids.
Why remove the bumper cover brackets, this is not required. You should use threaded stock screwed into the bumper shock holes to hold the lock carrier upright when you move the LC forward to the service position. The power steering cooling loop should be unfastened from the rad and allowed to relax. The cable that actuates the hood release needs to be disconnected at the handle & bourdon coupling - at the driver side of the hood near the LH strut housing. I've done this job 2x on my 2004 B5.5
Thank you so very much for the video. My husband can do it himself because of you! What do you recommend we change while the vehicle is apart? The water pump? We just purchased our 2000 Passat and we love it but not sure if the timing belt has ever been changed so thank you again for your video!
Laura Fraleyread Hi, you should replace the timing belt, timing belt tensioner, tensioning roller, idler pulley and the water pump. Also a good idea to replace the camshaft seal, serpentine belt tensioner and belt while at it.. GL and thanks for commenting. Cheers
holy crap you have to basically tear down half the vehicle lol wow! i'll never ever buy a newer vw. I had a 1982 jetta 4 door, what an awesome reliable car. easy to work on too.
im having issues with my 04 vw passat overheating when im idle...red light or a drivethru...but if i turn the heat on full blast and start driving the temp starts going down...i have only gotten the clutch to the engine fan replaced....someone told me this.... The OEM Water pump is plastic and breaks causing no coolant movement. Pull the little hose off the reservoir when its running; it should have a continuous stream of coolant. If not, the water pump is bad
Service position in my mind means the engineers made a simple way to move it out of the way to service your car. Not literally take the entire front end apart lol wtf vw!?
Yes they are over engineered, but if you can work on them yourself I think they are worth it. Thanks for your comment!
