    brutal watching this with the look on Justin’s face toward the end... you can see how much pride he’s got in the product that it can cut him up like this... shows there’s always room for improvement, even at the top of the game... it’s the little one percenters like this that hone things to perfection... well done on being transparent and vulnerable with your gear guys... above all it builds trust in what you’re producing

      Credit to them putting the product out there and showing a failure. They could of never shown this. Good work team

    Even though it was a bad experience, I believed is good that this happened to you and not to someone else. These trailers are bullet proof, and after this experience they're probably going to get even better (because it happens to the person that can improve them). Human invented planes 100 years ago and they still fail once in a while, we just get improvement every time this happens.... Still an amazing adventure. Nice job!!

    Big respect for You mates. Not many companies would show this kind of situation... This makes me even more sure - PATRIOT CAMPERS trailers are the best ITW

    Love to see a man that takes pride in his work and his products. And how upset he is was or is with his product that let's him down.
    Look on the bright side though mate, 1 in in 2000 items not bad Justin.

    So much respect for you Justin and the Patriot family, not too many people would show testing times like these. Gutwrenching experience but no doubt the love and pride in your products shine's through.

    There is always a trade off between weight, strength and cost when providing products to the public. You are doing a fine job with a well made product. 1 in 2,000 had a significant failure while being fully tested, and it hurts your pride? That’s the mindset of a good builder and a lesson to your children. I would be proud to own one of your trailers without any reservation of its capabilities.

    I am here watching this from the States. Love the show and love your family. Hang that broken part in your office. Hang that part front and center in the sales office. There is no shame in failure. Just knowledge. Now you know what it takes to break your gear. You know more now than you did yesterday. Save that part!!!!!

    That was really an unfortunate event for a well built trailer, but they must of missed the episode of bush mechanics where they used the log as a skid

    • @insaynbcr
      @insaynbcr 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That would certainly be a good technique provided they had logs in Mongolia to use. Actually, now that I think of it, they post they hack in half to shore puu the center of the ramps would have worked as a sled for sure.

  • @Undies790
    @Undies790 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Thats what pulley blocks are for isn't it. Thats assuming there was a point to attach one at the cab end of the truck. But jerry one up easy enough to, and then a straight pull up.

  • @mrdonny3501

    Maybe try using maxtrak as a slead with racket straps both ends to drag over to the hill. Less damage to the camper.

  • @cpfistner
    @cpfistner 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Justin,
    Great video! And it takes courage to also show, when things don't go as planned, and how to work through it as a team, and how you usually can get local help, if you travel with the right companions!
    A humble side question:
    Why didn't you guys build a little "improvised sled" out of the pieces of wood and fix it to the broken suspension arm of the trailer to get over to the dip where you intend to load onto the truck? We have done this in the past to "limp drive" for a short distance, just to get to a better place for attempting a more permanent fix or execute plan B.

    I wasn't there obviously but still have to ask why you didn't strip the camper of all its gear (if it was possible) before trying to push it up the first ramp to lower the weight then chuck it all into the back of the truck.

    Justin - whilst extremely hard..... take the emotion out of the situation and re-evaluate. Shearing the outdrive was completely out of your control. END OF STORY.
    Now, you have to do what is required - not preferable, not easier, not kinder to the X1, Required! This will be one of your best camp fire stories in due time. Chin up mate, anyone can be knocked down - getting up is what's important, and hell I expect nothing less of you and patriot campers.

    Heart broken is an understatement but it’s got nothing to do with Patriot quality or suspension quality, it’s got everything to do with the flux capacitor in the right foot. Maybe just maybe if you slowed down it might not have happened. Yeah?

    Best thing you can do when you loose a wheel is get a curved tree strap it on the bottom of the frame to make a sled on one side then you can drive for hundreds of kilometres 👌🏻

  • @insaynbcr
    @insaynbcr 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Justin, will this axle issue get your wheels turning (pun intended) to redesign the axle shaft to be field serviceable/replaceable?

  • @ozxplorer2258
    @ozxplorer2258 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You had wood materials ratchet straps/fencing wire, why didn't you build a sled for the broken axle? Or drove the front of the truck up the toy haulier lowering the rear of the truck used two winch blocks on the headboard and run the 2 winch trucks at right angles and winched it up. Anyway a good night sleep may have had a better solution rolled out a swag for the truckie he would have loved it.

  • @keyarnporter6160
    @keyarnporter6160 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You could have put a car on the same side as the wheel and winch it and then that takes weight off and you could have maybe tried reversing it up then

    I'm sure the trailers are awesome and everything fails sometimes.
    But that recovery seems like a bunch of hastily made terrible decisions.
    The "ramps" Couldn't take the weight of the trailer and he wanted to put the 200on it?
    And it could have been significantly lightened before the drag. Rooftop tent, wheel, fridge?, were the tanks empty?
    And then there's the old trick of ratchet strapping a log under it to drag on...
