It's not particular to Valenzuela. They're always active at the beginning, some more than others but its easy to find journeymen. They're everywhere and they are the backbone of boxing, especially today when 90% of guys are not throwbacks and lack cojones to step it up once they become champions. Its when they step up that its hard because fights need more preparation, fights get harder so more rest time / injuries, and the negotiations become harder and more drawn out. Should be common knowledge to those who have been watching boxing for a while. Valenzuela's doing what every prospect does in their first 15-20 fights, fight 5+ times a year.
Not really. He just has more buzz than the fighters that we don't watch this early in their career. There are a lot of fighters that fight more than 5x a year. Its pretty early for him but i definitely like the kid. Very entertaining fighter.
I’m a big fan of the Benavidez squad , I just hope he doesn’t make the same mistakes outside the ring as Jose jr and David has . He needs to stay focused and disciplined.
@@KamikOzzy_ You can fight low level comp every week though. You wouldn't be able to be healthy fighting ggg in january, charlo in feburuary, caleb in march, and then beterbiev in april. Ran into one last week saying how Mexicans are gullible for paying to see this fight live because the dude headlining was Mexican and I was like “didn’t y’all buy Maywheather’s last fight against Paul” and dude shut up real quick lol
Daaaaamn this kid has improved a lot in such a short pro career. You can see the Benavidez bros style is really starting to stick w Jose and he’s utilizing it amazingly
Like I said in dudes last fight. Feints and a high guard at least will take him farther than the come forward hands down style. That all offense can only take you so far.
Hands down style allows for better offense. He put his hands down because his opponent has the worst defense. I think he was getting carried away in the later round. I don’t blame him dude loves to fight
@@parrotcrazzy Yeah I did notice that. I still feel they can improve more in that area. Hes solid on offense but those slight changes can take him farther. Especially once they start steppin up the competition
Dirty Valenzuela with that back of the head strike, there was enough of a pause in seconds for him to realise what he was doing, still did it and then gave a fake apology like he didn't know what he did. Lopez smokes this kid, I see nothing special. Sparring means nothing, and the casuals don't seem to understand it. Sparring is not like a real fight, it was long ago, and we don't know the circumstances and how well or not Lopez was. Either way today he is way too seasoned and sharpened, experienced, etc for Rayo (at this point in time, at least), it would be 2 much 2 soon for Rayo, His defense needs serious work (gets hit a LOT) and his punching power is nowhere close to Lopez's. Some of the shots he landed, if Lopez landed them, would have been a cold KO. And that applies to him as well, some of the shots he took. Lopez too experienced, fast, and explosive / athletic, plus overall better boxer. In a couple years the fight would / could be different. Just spittin fax.
Definitely, Valenzuela's defense is not where it needs to be. Would love to see him get it right because he does have immense potential with his punching style.
