    It would be so cool to see you guys do a whole tiny house decor series. I know that's something that would take a lot of resources and all that. But I feel like there's a lot of really good space-saving diy opportunities in something like that.

    Really cute video! However, the hamster needs more space. A 40 Breeder or 50 gallon or bigger with a deeper substrate would be more adequate, hamsters are super active and need more space than a lot of people think! I THINK the dollar per gallon sale is still going on at some pet stores so you can get a cheap tank, or you can usually find them for good prices on Facebook marketplace or secondhand, or even make a tub enclosure. You could make a whole video “upgrading my hamster’s enclosure” or something like that.
    Also I saw you had a hamster ball! Please don’t put a hamster in that, it hurts their back because they don’t have a choice to stop having their back arched. It can cause back problems in the long run :( idk what species you have but if it’s a Syrian you’ll need a bigger wheel, good on you for getting a wooden one! Lots better than plastic or especially a wire one.
    Really nice room designs otherwise though.

    • @Iiterally
      @Iiterally 5 ปีที่แล้ว +25

      I agree! I was thinking the exact same thing as I watched it. The mirror doesn't really go with the aesthetic of the room. I felt like the shelves were a bit too cluttered. The white furniture was supposed to bring brightness to the room, but the cluttering would only take up more eye space and cast more shadows.

    • @gretel1986
      @gretel1986 5 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      I don't get this too. The beautiful dark brown shelf has to go white but then they keep these wallshelves and "hidden" shelf behind the couch in this bright wood which zero goes with the wallcolour. And then the clutter EVERYWHERE makes the room even more tiny and... cluttered! Tsssss

    • @MakingAndFixing
      @MakingAndFixing 5 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      I totally agree. I was shaking my head so many times as I was watching the video. The shelves and mirror should have been white and the Hamster table should have been left the same color - it was so beautiful. They should have used a lighter color blanket and pillow for the sofa to lighten it up. The sofa is big and dark and it was sucking all the light. The blinds was a good idea and the fold down table too. I would have stained the table or made it a bit darker color to take eyes of it.

      At the end of the day, a home has to be livable. If you have a small space, it's very very hard not to make something "cluttered" because at some point you have to set something down _somewhere._

      @risac.8384 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      If this is something you’re interested in, I can share my own cost effective hack, a no-install alternative to the platform bed. I came up with this years ago when wanted something similar to what you’re describing for my own studio apartment (but with deviations). At ikea I stumbled their ‘Stora’ wooden loft bed, a double mattress width frame. I wanted to be able to sit and move around freely but use the space underneath so I shortened the wooden legs to just the right height (it has a support beam mid height so this doesn’t compromise the structure). I have the bed in a corner and put shelves at the right height for access plus a side shelf drilled onto the box frame side to give me an area to put things (it has a ridge so things don’t tip off the edge). I also added posts on the corners to hold curtain rods, turning it into canopy bed,aka I could close off my sleep area from view for company and when I sleep (I used a sari for the curtain as it was the perfect length, just covering the bed but not the space below). Underneath I put a converting sofa bed rather than storage as well as a hybrid table/storage shelves with lamp and a comfy chair. The under space is a small social area that converts to a guest space, the sofa pulls out. I added a curtain that tucks under the stairs when not in use but acts as a privacy screen for guests. In a pinch the curtained area has also been used for storage when needed. This opened up my entire space, looks great and the cost by comparison was minimal. It started as a stop-gap measure but I’ve come to love it so much for years now that I quickly gave up on the platform idea in the end! In terms of construction, no professional assistance needed either. Just a friend, a saw and a drill for shelves/folding table extensions. I highly recommend it!

      @masha7377 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Some possibilities are: put up a room divider, or a big shelf that's open to both sides (the classic from ikea), or even just a chest of drawers. Difine different areas with rugs. Don't be afraid to put furniture (like a couch) in the middle of the room. If the ceiling is also high, hang some art high. Put up alternative lightsources (not just the big ceiling light) so you can light just the area that you are using. Alternatively: embrace it. My friend has a huuuuge living room. They have one very simple but cozy couch on the narrow side under the window with a little side table next to it. From the ceiling hangs a single enormous light bulb. There's a gigantic persian carpet in the middle. That's it. The floor, carpet and couch are all warm colours, and walls and ceiling are a creamy white. The light is also warm. Even though it's so empty, it feels cozy. And it makes for a great dance floor once you roll up the carpet! 😊
