- Hello guys! Wow, been awhile since I posted something, huh? Well, anyhow, here’s a project about 5 FREAKING MONTHS AND 3 HIATUSES in the work, something I gotta say I’m extremely proud of this. A LOT of work went into it, so I hope you guys like it!

Everybody is thinking that Frisk did a RESET in the genocide because of Sans or Papyrus.
But I love the idea that they RESET because of Undyne!

Well I am almost reset because of Undyne. Not when she kept killing me but when I killed her. While with the Sans fight I reset because I had been failing for a whole week.
The UltimateFlopCat FlopCat the sans fight made ME reset, when I finally beat him (after hours and hours) and killed him, I just was so sad, that I didn't have the heart to finish it
No one's gonna say How sad Dogamy and Dogaressas death was.

SushaCat I think Undyne's was the saddest because she wanted to save the underground, she had trained so hard for it, but we had taken away everything she trained for, everything she had fought for, as we killed her. her last words are "I won't die... I won't-" it's so sad, I don't know if I could ever do genocide, just because of that, but I'm gonna force myself to at some point and prepare for a ride on the feels train as I kill everyone who lives and breathes...

Tyb Ikr, and we also took Undyne away from Alphys as we killed her. Killing one character doesn't just effect that character, but every single character in the game. it's so sad. I mixed up how she dies in genocide and how she dies in neutral, but both are sad when you really think about it.
papyrus's death was the saddest in my opinion
I love the message of the song. Even though the heroes are usually seen as the people who win the battles and who keep trying till the end, it's also important to remember that a real hero shouldn't have to fight.
Also, at first sans was my favorite character, but over some time I've come to appreciate undyne a lot more, she fights for what she believes is right, and she is open hearted enough to open up to you in the pacifist route. Undyne the undying has always been the worst battle for me in the game, because it's heartbreaking to see her fight, do her best to protect everything she knows, and fail because I want to see another ending..

What's really incredible about this game is that it really drives exactly how evil you are home; by the time most people beat Undyne the Undying, they are hooting and hollering and celebrating. They don't realize exactly what they have done; they're just happy they beat her. The realization comes afterwards, and it hits hard.
Undertale is the only game that has made me cry, to this day. It doesn’t matter what ending you take you WILL cry at the end.
Sweet!! Undyne's death is by far the saddest one ever, and plus her history makes you want to love her. Also love the voice and animation.

I've done a run on Undertale where I've killed all the main characters, and out of all of them, it's Undyne's that gets me the most. I was almost crying and yelling at my computer "Stop Undyne! Just give up already! Let me win!"

Yeah, but Toby did such a good job that he made these characters seem real. He gave them personality, talents, weaknesses, purposes. Just like a real living being. And taking “living” beings down hurts, unless you’re a sociopath or a psychopath. He made an educational gem. A gem all of us need to experience.

i love this. I feel like Undyne is such an underappreciated character. And even now as i scroll through the comments, people are ignoring the actual video and only talking about how sad the Papyrus death was :(. Undertale doesn't revolve around Sans and Papyrus! Personally Undyne is my fav character.

I knew the "Real heroes don't have to fight" line was meant for Frisk! I'm glad you included the last scene, because it's exactly how imagined the music video for it would be. Jenny's lyrics for "Battle Against A True Hero" are perfect for a pacifist mode.
I really liked how in the video all the royal guards were included! In a genocide run, it's easy to just kill them like meh, but it is hurting to see them animated in death, like it gives them personality. Dogaressa's crying eyes specially. I really liked your video! (y) Truly touching.

if we could we would go back in time...so we could prevent all these wars(Undyne finding out Papyrus' death)

but the biggest fight is inside feeling clashing while you pretend that the blood stains one day will dry.(Undyne is depressed and/or having a break down)

deniz-usta Gedik I think the "if we could go back in time" line makes more sense to have referred to the first Human-Monster War, and the "real heroes don't have to fight" line refers to the Pacifist route that you can take.
Before watching this I actually misinterpreted the "real heroes donn't have to fight" line. I thought it meant that a "real hero" doesn't need to fight because they are so strong anyways that they can do everything without making an effort, you know what I'm trying to say? xD But it actually makes more sense if this is referring to frisk.

Ikr Megalovania, in my opinion, is way overrated and overused. My favorites have to be Asgore and this one.

That DDLC, Undertale, and SU Fan yeah it is a good song but I do prefer this one since it tells more of a story if you know what I mean

Of all the deaths, Undyne’s got me the most. Her character is so filled with passion and determination to protect what’s hers. She’s always been my favorite and this just reinforces it even more. 💜

I always thought people where exagerating when they said they cried because of some kind of "feels" animation, i never did anyways so i didn't understand.
But somehow you did it, i was actually brought to tears, i had so many chills along my spine.

Mike Darklighter I wanna do a genocide run to see all the endings and stuff, but the thought of killing Undyne and Papyrus, and Sans, it almost brings me to tears honestly. Killing all the people that thought they could trust you but you killed them, leaving behind nothing but dust and sadness. I can barely bring myself to think about, let alone do it. I'm doing a pacifist run first, too. Killing all the people I had made friends with in the run before, it's just so sad to kill them all. Undyne has got to be the saddest for me because she wants to save the underground, but we take that away from her. her last words are"I won't die... I won't-" it's just so sad, and I'm not sure I could ever do it.

I haven't played this game yet, but it seems like this Undyne character is one that I've dreamed of being my whole life. A hero dying for a cause, fighting for everyone and everything they care about.... But, why does Frisk kill her???? I thought you were supposed to be the hero of the game???
Edit: So I finally got around to playing the game. It was an emotional rollercoaster I wasn't expecting. This song has turned out to be probably my favorite in the game next to Hope's and Dreams and Spider Dance. Thank you everyone for your kind comments and for telling me to play this game I definitely did not regret it!

This is among my favourite Undertale animations. It's not the quality, or the style, or anything of substance that makes me say so; simply, this animation has SOUL. Even though the characters don't move much, they express deeply and you FEEL for them... and that feeling synchs up with what's being sung perfectly. If you know the characters well, everything resonates even more strongly... like you can feel their hearts, EVERYone's hearts, beating as one, with just one wish: that you feel what they feel, understand it, and so learn that 'real heroes don't have to fight.'
This is the first Undertale song I learned, and this animation is the reason why. Excellent, wonderful, amazing job. Thank you for posting this.
The only time I cried is when the dogs died. Not when papyrus died. Not when undyne died. When the dogs died. Btw awesome animation!!!
I think it's because we are so used to the Papyrus death scene but when we see characters that we didn't see often shedding tears and losing their loved ones it's sad as they die too

UNDYNE CRYING AND SMILING WHILE SHE TURNS TO DUST??? its all so absolutely beautiful and emotional, this single video alone brings me to tears over and over again

CosmicPixel, great job on this animation, this is wonderful! Some of the animations aren't the smoothest, but you'll get there! I know how hard it is to animate things super smoothly, lots of people are just conditioned to professionals like piemations. You're doing great, you'll get there. Just like the original vocal cover that I saw before this, it made me cry.
The part where Undyne is smiling and crying while the lyrics are, “It will be alright.” Then showing Frisk dropping her knife while tearing up and then resets gets me every time.
2023 check. I dont know why I find myself coming back to this song. I didnt even play undertale, but watched people play it. I feel all the emotion that they did though, and this hits hard. Its a difficult feeling to describe but, I always get emotional when I come back.
Dang, the attention to detail is amazing, undyne dyng of being too determined, since monsters body can't hold that much determination. The fact that this was made 5 years ago is incredibly impressive

No matter what route is taken, even if Undyne is only a game character, I feel bad for her. When fighting her when she's Undyne the Undying, her spear attacks slowing down sounds like a heartbeat, and she's literally fighting while trying to hold a physical form, then melts away smiling. She put up a good fight to protect and stall for Alphys to evacuate the rest.
You can almost hear the pain in undynes voice as she sings about the dogs and papyrus dying by the human, really well done!!

Watching this again years later makes me realize that this might be the only Undertale fanwork which has Frisk resetting because they remember how much they care for Undyne. Usually it's either Papyrus or Sans that convinces them to reset. Glad to see something different.
Man, I played Undertale so long ago, but its story and music can still got me…such a good game. And the voice and animation were wonderful.

This is honestly one of the best animations I have seen. The song goes along with it so well. Also, I love your frisk. X3 Undyne looks so much like.. UNDYNE XD. You don't see much animations hit it right on the spot.
