A few beautiful details I noticed: 1. Near the end, Sans stops singing indicating he just turned to dust. 2. Frisk is drowned out by the other two, not having nearly as many lines. 3. Chara gets the last word of the three, symbolizing when chara takes over. 4. This is a great (Remix?)
XD Yeah in my head I always just imagined that bascially that Frisk and Chara are fighting for control over the body like split personality with Frisk taking over to make a mistake to be killed but even with fighting two people bascially Clara wins in the end

I’m so glad that everyone has their chance to shine in this mashup. The way that the creator lengthened the whole thing so that everybody’s bridge was included makes me squeal and kick my legs. The inclusion of Sans’ laugh also makes me very very happy A few things I’ve noticed about each version listening to them all again after this long. Chara and Sans are regularly singing together given their lyrics tend to parallel one another like an actual conversation (IE, “Dirty brother killer/Just another killer,” and, “You’re gonna have a bad time/You’ll have a really good time.”) I know that a lot of people, even now, harbor the belief that Chara possesses Frisk during a No Mercy route, so I guess the idea of these two having the conversation makes enough sense Frisk is the only one who’s breathing is an important part of their vocals. Yes, you can catch Chara and Sans breathing before lyrics too if you listen closely, but Frisk’s breaths feel more intentional. I think it’s because they’re the only one in the trio that actually needs to breathe. Chara has been dead for the Angel knows how long, and Sans, a skeleton, we can safely assume doesn’t have any lungs to breathe with. The spot when Frisk’s breath is most notable is their lyrics before the song’s second chorus: “I know who you are, you remember who I am. I knew that once in a timeline we had grown to be good friends.” They almost sound like they’re fighting back tears here, which I really like. Another thing about the two humans’ versions is the way their notes change at certain times. My favorite part of Chara’s Response has always been, “Can you just not see the truth? Can you not see what this all meant?” because of the upward shift in pitch on the last word. It really compliments the singer’s voice. Frisk has something a bit similar that I’m sure plenty of people have noticed. Between, “The flowers are in bloom, as the birds will tell,” and, “It’s a beautiful day to be burning in hell,” they lower their volume significantly. While old Fandom me who did believe the Chara possession thing would have viewed this as them giving up, present day me views it a bit differently. They sound so resigned to their fate. They know that there’s no forgiveness for them and what they’ve done. Them lowering their voice while paraphrasing Sans’ most iconic line feels to me like they’re accepting the consequences of their actions. They’re saying, “Yeah, I screwed up. This is my fault.” They even admit this outright in the song: “This isn’t what I want, yet it’s what I asked for. Curiosity over all my morals.” They did it and they know that they did it. I really love all three versions of the song, but Frisk’s will always be my number one, at least out of the classic trio. While Sans’ lyrics are about justice and revenge, and Chara’s are about bloodlust and mercilessness, those are both very grounded in character traits that they both possess in a No Mercy run. Frisk, having no character to go off of apart from that they like flirting, mirrors the player. Frisk is a genuinely good person. Chara is guided by the player, and in turn guides Frisk the the genocide. Sans is just pissed off, and with good reason.

It's like a fight mainly between Chara and Sans, and poor Frisk is caught in the middle but unable to really do anything except express their regret and guilt over what they had done.

God the part the goes “You know I’ll just come back newer and with every try I’m getting even faster than you are” has to be the best part in my opinion. Just because it sums up the whole fight in such a hopeless way. It really just shows how Sans is slowly wearing away as each fight progresses, not even in a literal way, but the fact that each time you fight, you advance further and further and get better and better at dodging Sans’ attacks.
right and wrong sans knows he has massive disadvantage at this fight allways just because of you can't actually die and reset but the thing is sans resets too here. Sans is not like flowey where he is not effected by resets, he just knows whats going on and recognized whats happening by looking to your reactions Each time you reset, sans gets refreshed just like before the fight. He is not tired or bored for him you and him doing if for the first time ever. He just knows you did this multiple times but he knows he wins all the time because if he didn't there would be no reset anymore. What threatens sans is not the fact that he is getting tired because of amount of attemps but experince you gain but he attempts to use this advantage of yours to demoralize you into giving up either by sheer bullshit of difficulty or by making you question your morals, even if just for a video game. Sans is literally last attempt of devolper telling you "fuck off you don't have to complete every single ending just because its there" by adding bunch of bullshit to fight and making it difficult by cheesy tactics. Sans is the only unfair boss that is meant to annoy you and demoralize you while fighting.

And technically, once you chose the genocide route, no matter what you do, hack, delete, reinstall, no matter what you try, the consequences will always be there. No matter what you try. Chara was right. Genocide never leaves you. No matter what you do.
I love the detail of how sans says "I THINK I'm stronger than you." and chara says "I KNOW I'm stronger than you." Hinting at how YOU end up winning the fight ingame, the REALLY small detail that really drives the point home is that at the end only frisk and Chara are singing. That must mean that sans died, I just really love small details like this in things that are kinda tricky to catch.
In a way, it's like frisk is a puppet that Chara uses as she sees the power of her determination, and sans is trying to free her so she can reset the time line but failing

The Undertale craze has overtaken me. I once used to not know where this song originated from 4 years ago, but now, as a Steven Universe fan, I know... and I'm glad I'm a fan of both these amazing series.

@Emily Anne Morales Your right, Chara isn't evil. The only reason she becomes this way is because of the player's choice to commit genocide. This sort of "infects" Chara with the malevolent emotions and hate of the monsters you kill. This brings Chara to the breaking point, driving her so insane, that she wishes to finish what you started by "deleting" the world.
Coming back to this song... I can really appreciate the transitioning from frisk's soft voice with piano music in background to the much more hyped ver then back again. Props to the person who mashed this all up together.

I interpret her voice lower. Fun fact: everyone knows how Papyrus sounds, but everyone has their own interpretation of how Sans sounds. Anyways, I think his voice is deeper (around the pitch of the noise it makes when he speaks in-game) with a New York accent
My favorite thing about this song is that all of the characters have their own instruments. San's is the classic, screechtone song, Frisk's is that piano, and Chara's is more dubstep, not to mention the constant backbeat to it all

I’m so glad that everyone has their chance to shine in this mashup. The way that the creator lengthened the whole thing so that everybody’s bridge was included makes me squeal and kick my legs. The inclusion of Sans’ laugh also makes me very very happy
A few things I’ve noticed about each version listening to them all again after this long. Chara and Sans are regularly singing together given their lyrics tend to parallel one another like an actual conversation (IE, “Dirty brother killer/Just another killer,” and, “You’re gonna have a bad time/You’ll have a really good time.”) I know that a lot of people, even now, harbor the belief that Chara possesses Frisk during a No Mercy route, so I guess the idea of these two having the conversation makes enough sense
Frisk is the only one who’s breathing is an important part of their vocals. Yes, you can catch Chara and Sans breathing before lyrics too if you listen closely, but Frisk’s breaths feel more intentional. I think it’s because they’re the only one in the trio that actually needs to breathe. Chara has been dead for the Angel knows how long, and Sans, a skeleton, we can safely assume doesn’t have any lungs to breathe with. The spot when Frisk’s breath is most notable is their lyrics before the song’s second chorus: “I know who you are, you remember who I am. I knew that once in a timeline we had grown to be good friends.” They almost sound like they’re fighting back tears here, which I really like.
Another thing about the two humans’ versions is the way their notes change at certain times. My favorite part of Chara’s Response has always been, “Can you just not see the truth? Can you not see what this all meant?” because of the upward shift in pitch on the last word. It really compliments the singer’s voice. Frisk has something a bit similar that I’m sure plenty of people have noticed. Between, “The flowers are in bloom, as the birds will tell,” and, “It’s a beautiful day to be burning in hell,” they lower their volume significantly. While old Fandom me who did believe the Chara possession thing would have viewed this as them giving up, present day me views it a bit differently. They sound so resigned to their fate. They know that there’s no forgiveness for them and what they’ve done. Them lowering their voice while paraphrasing Sans’ most iconic line feels to me like they’re accepting the consequences of their actions. They’re saying, “Yeah, I screwed up. This is my fault.” They even admit this outright in the song: “This isn’t what I want, yet it’s what I asked for. Curiosity over all my morals.” They did it and they know that they did it.
I really love all three versions of the song, but Frisk’s will always be my number one, at least out of the classic trio. While Sans’ lyrics are about justice and revenge, and Chara’s are about bloodlust and mercilessness, those are both very grounded in character traits that they both possess in a No Mercy run. Frisk, having no character to go off of apart from that they like flirting, mirrors the player.
This comment is already lengthy to the depths of hell though, so I won’t do a full lyrical analysis verse by verse. I’m gonna go do that in the comments of Frisk’s Response though, brb-

This feels both like a call out but also a comforting phrase
God the part the goes “You know I’ll just come back newer and with every try I’m getting even faster than you are” has to be the best part in my opinion. Just because it sums up the whole fight in such a hopeless way. It really just shows how Sans is slowly wearing away as each fight progresses, not even in a literal way, but the fact that each time you fight, you advance further and further and get better and better at dodging Sans’ attacks.

Sans is not like flowey where he is not effected by resets, he just knows whats going on and recognized whats happening by looking to your reactions
Each time you reset, sans gets refreshed just like before the fight. He is not tired or bored for him you and him doing if for the first time ever. He just knows you did this multiple times but he knows he wins all the time because if he didn't there would be no reset anymore.
What threatens sans is not the fact that he is getting tired because of amount of attemps but experince you gain but he attempts to use this advantage of yours to demoralize you into giving up either by sheer bullshit of difficulty or by making you question your morals, even if just for a video game.
Sans is literally last attempt of devolper telling you "fuck off you don't have to complete every single ending just because its there" by adding bunch of bullshit to fight and making it difficult by cheesy tactics. Sans is the only unfair boss that is meant to annoy you and demoralize you while fighting.

What a solid flow that is jarring yet so fitting between the characters
I love the detail of how sans says "I THINK I'm stronger than you." and chara says "I KNOW I'm stronger than you." Hinting at how YOU end up winning the fight ingame, the REALLY small detail that really drives the point home is that at the end only frisk and Chara are singing. That must mean that sans died, I just really love small details like this in things that are kinda tricky to catch.
In a way, it's like frisk is a puppet that Chara uses as she sees the power of her determination, and sans is trying to free her so she can reset the time line but failing

I know! NO one ever mentions it but Chara's voice is actually really pretty, just not as beautiful as Frisks, and it blends GREAT with Sans' deep voice.

This sort of "infects" Chara with the malevolent emotions and hate of the monsters you kill. This brings Chara to the breaking point, driving her so insane, that she wishes to finish what you started by "deleting" the world.
