Frisk is not melting, only Undyne because she was directly injected with Determination, which causes monsters to melt after a pretty short while, Frisk's face was designed that way to show how much of a monstrocity she/he is in genocide route. I hope the info helped. :)
That's exactly why I couldn't do a genocide run. I killed Toriel and felt so bad that I restarted the game, did the pacifist run again and never touched the game afterwards.
I watched runs of undertale and it made it so I felt bad about killing any enemy in any videogame. I'm running around in breath of the wild getting attacked by bakoblins and Lionels and stuff and I nearly cry when I kill one. Then I got to the blood moon and I felt less bad about it.

When you think about it... Frisk couldn't win this fight. Out of every enemy, every boss she fought, Undyne the Undying was the one who refused to die, until it literally was her own determination that killed her
The very same thing that motivated the Player to keep obliterating everything, the same thing that refused to die inside your SOUL to save everyone, the same thing that kept the heroine alive to destroy you once and for all... Only destroyed you, from the inside... hollow.
I absolutely love this! I love how you utilised the music; at 1:35 when the music changed, you showed all the previous battles, which sent shivers down my spine. When the drumbeat kicks back in again, it almost appears that Frisk/Chara/the player uses these previous battles to allow them to finish this fight. The emotions felt previously, any guilt, or rage, or greed, are what allow Frisk to finish this. In the same way, this is what powers Undyne, too. She remembers all the previous harm her world has gone through, and she is fighting to save the last shreds of life she can. As the viewer, we are able to see both perspectives blended perfectly, which is incredibly powerful. It just adds a whole new layer onto this, making it so much more emotional.

I think the point is that she's already beginning to melt because of the sheer amount of determination going through her at that point, which is pretty much the reason she was resurrected in this form to begin with. It's an interesting little detail that not many people think to put in.
I love this animation overall, but the fact that Frisk continuously looks regretful throughout is a nice touch that you don't see often in animations and art of No Mercy runs.
Yes, most of the time, people treat the ones who did Genocide as soulless mosnters (and what i mean "the ones", I mean the players in Real life), when they also show clear regret, it also would fit Frisk in this case, Frisk wants to go home, but Monsters attack them without thinking twice, and, for them, the killing would be for self-defense, since it looks like there is no other way, they still show regret, but they also want to go home alive

I always thought it was sad Mettaton died in a single hit. He shoulda been an actual boss as well. Chara didn't have the real knife yet and wasn't hitting 100000000000 yet, so it didn't make sense for him to go into NEO form which was his combat form and still die in a single hit. It wasn't about being determined either. He was pissed you killed all the monsters and he wanted to defend who was left and avenge the fallen, he even wanted to save humanity since he sees them as future viewers.
***** That blows, I woulda figured it would have been a buffered version of his EX fight. But adding his lazer into the mix. That basically is what Undynes fight is, her normal fight but tougher and 2 moves added in.
But honestly I love that part. Frisk seeing the other monsters they killed starting to revolt puts further meaning into what Undyne says "I can feel everyone's hearts beating as one, and they all share the same goal" it's so amazing and it almost seems like they regret it until they realize that this is what they wanted and are going to stop at nothing to achieve it. It's so amazing especially with the music to. This animation is beautiful and is probably one of my favorite Undertale Animations of all time!

I think it's less about the regret, and more about showing how they feel about it all, overall. For a moment, Frisk considers that their way might not be the best, yes; however, then we see a crueler side to these monsters, from Frisk's perspective in the way they lunge for them, reminding Frisk of just why they're genociding in the first place

wo i love how you re-emphasized Frisk as a Villain PROTAGONIST. like yea genocide route YOU'RE THE BAD GUY but you're still the protagonist, and applying anime tropes, this is about a villain overcoming an overwhelming hero, with themes and illusions usually applied to the exact opposite, where a hero overcomes and overwhelming villain. like when frisk sees the past royal guards, papyrus, and toriel after being smacked down hard core, the memories of their deaths driving them upward onto their feet again with DETERMINATION. then when Frisk finally kills undyne, its in a very trope-way, first by outsmarting/surprising the opponent (though still in a villinous way, its choreographed still with the effect of a typical protagonist) and then whith head down, frisk stabs up into undyne's chest, "final effort" way, again choreographing a villain with the typical visuals of a hero's fight.
And there's also the fact that the slash that Undyne gives Frisk is almost the exact same as the one given to Sans at the end of the Genocide Route, where he's the one doing what Frisk does here: overcoming overwhelming odds through outsmarting and surprising them. What Sans does in his battle, Frisk does here, and it creates a fascinating sense of mirroring between the two battles.

iconic sin if I ever remember, I'll try to take a video of both fights. I don't know if I will remember though. I can't do a no hit run with them, for Undyne I shouldn't need to heal though. I'll need to find a good setup since I don't have a proper recording studio, or anything to record exept my phone, I'll try on Playstation. My mic broke though, so it'll have to wait till about Friday.
Rewatching this, I remembered why I liked Undertale so much. In that game, nobody is completely guilt-free, nobody is the pure villain, nobody is the true hero. Oh yes and the humour helped too, as well as the 4th wall breaks.
Because of her witness to Monster Kid's death, she lost her Determination as she failed to save him from Frisk, and that is why she is melting faster before Frisk can finish her. *cries*

Is been almost 7 years, the Undertale community is still alive to this day too. The nostalgia I get from this is amazing, even without nostalgia, this is such a great animation. I remember that seeing monster kid die was so sad for me back then, now it still makes me a little sad.

Enzo godino Actually, I think it represents how the monsters seemed friendly at first. Helpful, supportive, funny, so she kept trusting them. And then, somehow, they always wound up attacking her, trying to kill her. These things once her only friends in an alien world. So she had to defend herself, and she learned that it really is a "kill or be killed" world. and that trust and mercy are not an option.
Undyne is by far my most favorite character She doesn’t care just about her self she cares about her friends and she shows that by risking her life, she goes out on her fullest and really shows she IS the TRUE HERO
He saw the live and kindness of Toriel then the actions of papyrus then the fact that they all tried to kill him. That's why he was shocked to see Toriel, then a frowned face against the rest
I love how you made Undyne's body seem fluid, the way the amalgamates are. It's something that doesn't get touched on much by the game itself, but at that point her body is literally being held together by Determination, and you visualized that perfectly.

This is one of the best and most beautiful animations I've ever seen. A wonderful tribute to a heartbreaking and chilling scene, when you the character, become a true villain, and a character steps up to become a true hero and challenge you. I love the touches you added, with Undyne slowly melting, just like the amalgamates in Alfie's laboratory who were brought back with determination and began to "melt". It is very fitting, since Undyne brought herself back from the brink of death with that very trait.
1:54 I never thought they would like that. I believe that they wont be like that. Including Papyrus. He's a nice and kindest in Undertale. Yea, I know there're some people kinder than him. But I don't feel that he is a villain. But the true villain is player/frisk their self. Maybe some comments are right about it. Poor Sans.. He lost his brother. I could feel that. So hurts.. I dont think that papyrus's expression is because he wants the player dead. I think it is the hatred for them after he spared them and they cut off his head in return.
I love this animation really!Visuals are excellent, it's well paced, exciting, and it actually portrayed the Undyne battle as difficult, ((as it should be!)), the flow of the animation just makes you jump for more, I love how she started to melt as her determination became too much, and honestly the way you did her hair was nothing below fantastic.
It’s been three years since this animation and I still think about it. The sequence starting at 1:41 hits me SO hard. The realization that you were going for a sympathetic angle for this route was FANTASTICALLY well done. A quiet moment in the song used to heighten Frisk’s emotions was wonderful. A flash of guilt at the monsters who WERE actually nice to them only ramps up to show how common it was for Frisk to be immediately attacked is great. Gives a great reasoning for why Frisk is fighting
I've found that there's a severe lack of Undyne the Undying animation, so this was perfect to fill that void. The animation and art style was beautiful, I loved Undyne's hair, and that ending was perfectly heartbreaking.
There's like maybe two good Power of NEO remixes (Ikarus' remix and Savior of Humanity) and maybe one good Mettaton NEO animation (by NCHProductions) and that's it, it saddens me greatly
The Heroine just tried to save everyone. She failed... She didn't sucseed. You were too strong. It wasn't HER fault... But yours. Are you happy? You failed a solider that did their work... Mostly...You ruined it. You never let her world to live on. You never felt MERCY. You felt... Misery.

Why did my head at these scenes think this is what frisk would say on a genocide route 1:47 - 1:54 you all said you’d protect me or monsters aren’t evil... Yet 1:54 -1:56 you all attacked me when I showed mercy EDIT: I feel like people have this serious double standard when monsters try to kill you but if you do it’s the most evil thing in the world. Thing is they always attack first or have the intention of attacking you first. The only monsters you have no excuse to kill are like the very first monsters and that’s because they don’t even attack you. I still think you killing everyone is wrong but if you kill even one person the game acts like your the worst person to ever live. SECOND EDIT: this line of logic applies to neutral and passive routes as genocide you go out of this your way to find and kill everyone. I mean I guess you could make the argument that genocide is ok because they tried to kill you and since it assumed that your a kid it might be easier to have the mind set of they tried to kill me so screw them. Also I guess the L.V could also jack up there mind so after they kill everyone in the ruins there mind is to fracture to properly assess what they are doing

I loved the transition of Chara's expressions from remorse (shown with Toriel, their canonical mother figure) to a mixture of what could be anger and resentment (shown with Papyrus and the dog guards, who as far as I'm aware they have never known) between 1:44 and 1:55!

no in even animation ever the player isn't even considered its just frisk and chara and from what I can see its not different here so don't bring game logic into an artist's own interpretation
Trace things. Tracing paper or drawing over an image on a new layer in Photoshop. It will get your hand used to the movements. Then just practice and practice and practice and practice and practice and practice. When I was a little kid I would trace dinosaurs out of my books and then draw with my grandfather (who was a painter). And even though I'm severely out of practice with drawing I still know the feel of it because of all the tracing I did as a little kid.
You know fun fact the fact frisk knew she was fucked if she didn't throw that spear at mk gave us a good idea that if frisk didn't see mk then undyne would've won that battle so I need a 2nd ending

I think the point is that she's already beginning to melt because of the sheer amount of determination going through her at that point, which is pretty much the reason she was resurrected in this form to begin with. It's an interesting little detail that not many people think to put in.

I love this animation overall, but the fact that Frisk continuously looks regretful throughout is a nice touch that you don't see often in animations and art of No Mercy runs.
Yes, most of the time, people treat the ones who did Genocide as soulless mosnters (and what i mean "the ones", I mean the players in Real life), when they also show clear regret, it also would fit Frisk in this case, Frisk wants to go home, but Monsters attack them without thinking twice, and, for them, the killing would be for self-defense, since it looks like there is no other way, they still show regret, but they also want to go home alive

Ah, I just got it. Now my heart will break into pieces.
I always thought it was sad Mettaton died in a single hit. He shoulda been an actual boss as well. Chara didn't have the real knife yet and wasn't hitting 100000000000 yet, so it didn't make sense for him to go into NEO form which was his combat form and still die in a single hit. It wasn't about being determined either. He was pissed you killed all the monsters and he wanted to defend who was left and avenge the fallen, he even wanted to save humanity since he sees them as future viewers.
***** That blows, I woulda figured it would have been a buffered version of his EX fight. But adding his lazer into the mix. That basically is what Undynes fight is, her normal fight but tougher and 2 moves added in.

But honestly I love that part. Frisk seeing the other monsters they killed starting to revolt puts further meaning into what Undyne says "I can feel everyone's hearts beating as one, and they all share the same goal" it's so amazing and it almost seems like they regret it until they realize that this is what they wanted and are going to stop at nothing to achieve it. It's so amazing especially with the music to. This animation is beautiful and is probably one of my favorite Undertale Animations of all time!

I think it's less about the regret, and more about showing how they feel about it all, overall. For a moment, Frisk considers that their way might not be the best, yes; however, then we see a crueler side to these monsters, from Frisk's perspective in the way they lunge for them, reminding Frisk of just why they're genociding in the first place

i love how you re-emphasized Frisk as a Villain PROTAGONIST. like yea genocide route YOU'RE THE BAD GUY but you're still the protagonist, and applying anime tropes, this is about a villain overcoming an overwhelming hero, with themes and illusions usually applied to the exact opposite, where a hero overcomes and overwhelming villain.
like when frisk sees the past royal guards, papyrus, and toriel after being smacked down hard core, the memories of their deaths driving them upward onto their feet again with DETERMINATION.
then when Frisk finally kills undyne, its in a very trope-way, first by outsmarting/surprising the opponent (though still in a villinous way, its choreographed still with the effect of a typical protagonist) and then whith head down, frisk stabs up into undyne's chest, "final effort" way, again choreographing a villain with the typical visuals of a hero's fight.
And there's also the fact that the slash that Undyne gives Frisk is almost the exact same as the one given to Sans at the end of the Genocide Route, where he's the one doing what Frisk does here: overcoming overwhelming odds through outsmarting and surprising them. What Sans does in his battle, Frisk does here, and it creates a fascinating sense of mirroring between the two battles.

Rewatching this, I remembered why I liked Undertale so much. In that game, nobody is completely guilt-free, nobody is the pure villain, nobody is the true hero.
Oh yes and the humour helped too, as well as the 4th wall breaks.
Also the way Undyne seems to move with the beat of the music indicates that the music reflects her determination, which I absolutely love

Enzo godino Actually, I think it represents how the monsters seemed friendly at first. Helpful, supportive, funny, so she kept trusting them. And then, somehow, they always wound up attacking her, trying to kill her. These things once her only friends in an alien world. So she had to defend herself, and she learned that it really is a "kill or be killed" world. and that trust and mercy are not an option.
Undyne is by far my most favorite character
She doesn’t care just about her self she cares about her friends and she shows that by risking her life, she goes out on her fullest and really shows she IS the TRUE HERO

I love how you made Undyne's body seem fluid, the way the amalgamates are. It's something that doesn't get touched on much by the game itself, but at that point her body is literally being held together by Determination, and you visualized that perfectly.

Exactly what I was about to say, that was a damn nice touch I've not seen in any other animations.
This is one of the best and most beautiful animations I've ever seen. A wonderful tribute to a heartbreaking and chilling scene, when you the character, become a true villain, and a character steps up to become a true hero and challenge you. I love the touches you added, with Undyne slowly melting, just like the amalgamates in Alfie's laboratory who were brought back with determination and began to "melt". It is very fitting, since Undyne brought herself back from the brink of death with that very trait.
This animation is stunning. It really evokes that realisation that maybe you're the villain in this story, and Undyne is the real hero.

I love this animation really!Visuals are excellent, it's well paced, exciting, and it actually portrayed the Undyne battle as difficult, ((as it should be!)), the flow of the animation just makes you jump for more, I love how she started to melt as her determination became too much, and honestly the way you did her hair was nothing below fantastic.

It’s been three years since this animation and I still think about it. The sequence starting at 1:41 hits me SO hard. The realization that you were going for a sympathetic angle for this route was FANTASTICALLY well done. A quiet moment in the song used to heighten Frisk’s emotions was wonderful. A flash of guilt at the monsters who WERE actually nice to them only ramps up to show how common it was for Frisk to be immediately attacked is great. Gives a great reasoning for why Frisk is fighting
I've found that there's a severe lack of Undyne the Undying animation, so this was perfect to fill that void. The animation and art style was beautiful, I loved Undyne's hair, and that ending was perfectly heartbreaking.

EDIT: I feel like people have this serious double standard when monsters try to kill you but if you do it’s the most evil thing in the world. Thing is they always attack first or have the intention of attacking you first. The only monsters you have no excuse to kill are like the very first monsters and that’s because they don’t even attack you. I still think you killing everyone is wrong but if you kill even one person the game acts like your the worst person to ever live.
SECOND EDIT: this line of logic applies to neutral and passive routes as genocide you go out of this your way to find and kill everyone. I mean I guess you could make the argument that genocide is ok because they tried to kill you and since it assumed that your a kid it might be easier to have the mind set of they tried to kill me so screw them. Also I guess the L.V could also jack up there mind so after they kill everyone in the ruins there mind is to fracture to properly assess what they are doing

I loved the transition of Chara's expressions from remorse (shown with Toriel, their canonical mother figure) to a mixture of what could be anger and resentment (shown with Papyrus and the dog guards, who as far as I'm aware they have never known) between 1:44 and 1:55!

Trace things. Tracing paper or drawing over an image on a new layer in Photoshop. It will get your hand used to the movements. Then just practice and practice and practice and practice and practice and practice. When I was a little kid I would trace dinosaurs out of my books and then draw with my grandfather (who was a painter). And even though I'm severely out of practice with drawing I still know the feel of it because of all the tracing I did as a little kid.
