most IDEs (code editors programmers use) usually have 2-3 vertical columns: navigation, main editing space, support info/tools. and a few horizontal info lines: file-edit-view-help toolbar, some app specific toolbar, path bar, maybe one support line in the bottom. and for me all this looks very crammed in 3:2. very tall spaces but not wide enough to fill long words/phrases/paths/code. and quite a bunch of programmers would still use 16:9/16:10 for productivity. but maybe once we see more 3:2 coming, IDEs will change and adapt too
When with a 3:2 with higher resolution? I feel like I have tons of space in all my applications with it. But I'm not a programmer. So i can't talk about that and be true.

A good comparison. Be careful, your content is full of self-contradictions. You have associated high aspect ratio with high (tall) screen dimension or perhaps largest screen area. It is an easy mix-up to make. Your preferred 3:2 is the lowest aspect ratio in your comparison, not the highest. 16:9 = 1.7, 16:10 = 1.6, 3:2 = 1.5 It was very confusing for this listener trying to replace parts of the commentary with your intended meaning. Still, an informative video.
I think that's because of being a non native English speaker. It doesn't matter if i try. I probably couldn't get all of that right anyhow... I realized a few mistakes when i was editing but working hard on not being too perfectionist.
Two aspects that also contribute to screen space for documents and such are resolution and scaling. The difference between the 3:2 and 16:10 in this example are not equal representations of these aspects. I can tell by the sizes of the tabs
Could you make a video for the best laptops for creators? I'm talking digital artists animators and video editors? I just can't decide which laptop to get. And maybe inclusw a few convertibles in it
4:40 That is not a fair comparison :p On the 3:2 screen you can see more colums, You should zoom in a little. There is not a huge difference between 16 :10 and 3:2.

Or is the 16:9 aspect ratio better anyway for browsing web, watching videos and palying some light games from time to time? Also im wondering how the slim 7 behaves when placed on a bed or a couch, blocking the airflow while playing a video for example.
Consuming media is not so taxing. You won't need any beefy cpu for that so a 5600h or even 4700u is a bit of overkill! You can go i5 or 4500u to keep the price down. I think yoga slim 7 pro is great if you need the performance and the screen, but in your case i wouldn't be too bothered about it

computer screens started as 4 by 3, then the world went nuts about 10 years ago and manufactures started making this ridiculous wide screens where you can't see any vertical content.. God! They were even marketing it as a selling point "super wide screen" nonsense.. apps will then take some space from the top and bottom of the screen and you end up with 10 lines of document.. and when you put a vertical photo on a screen you find that's smaller than on an ipad. hah!! we're just rediscovering the wheel here but I'm glad manufacturers are getting some common sense back..

most IDEs (code editors programmers use) usually have 2-3 vertical columns: navigation, main editing space, support info/tools. and a few horizontal info lines: file-edit-view-help toolbar, some app specific toolbar, path bar, maybe one support line in the bottom.
and for me all this looks very crammed in 3:2. very tall spaces but not wide enough to fill long words/phrases/paths/code.
and quite a bunch of programmers would still use 16:9/16:10 for productivity. but maybe once we see more 3:2 coming, IDEs will change and adapt too
When with a 3:2 with higher resolution? I feel like I have tons of space in all my applications with it. But I'm not a programmer. So i can't talk about that and be true.
@@w2best higher res results into smaller fonts, I have bad eyesight so I have to scale all elements up and get the same situation on any display :)
16:10 is the way to go!
You have a great Channel, you really do. The video isn't actually smaller in the non 16:9 though is it? It just give it a smaller appearance.
It's def a bit smaller since the screens are not as wide. But the difference isn't huge.
@@w2best 16:10 isn't as wide as 16:9? I did't know that. Thanks.
@@AirrowRocket Sorry, in that case they are the same and some added pixels on the height. Then in the 3:2 it's not as wide.
@@w2best Understood. Thanks.
This was really helpful. Thank you!
I'm glad you like it! :)
Very timely, as I am now considering whether Lenovo 16:9 FHD will do, now that they are being offered with Ryzen 7 4750 in the UK. I think it will do for me! 3:2 would be better, but 16:9 will do. Thanks for the side by side comparison. Have you used a ThinkPad 14s Gen 1 Ryzen 4750?
So far i haven't used any thinkpad! I've been eyeing the thinkbook for some time. That has 16:10! But 4750 seems great! That's 8 core 16 thread? Power house!
@@w2best Thanks for your reply. I have until tomorrow night to decide on the 14S. Alternatively I could wait for a Slim 7 5800, but that may take another year to get here!
Thanks a lot, this really helped me decide
That's great!
I have both 3:2 and 16:9 monitor. I much prefer the 3:2 for gaming and productivity. It feels superior and vision filling!. I also own 21:9 ultrawide back then, I sold it because I hated it when watching movies.. I can tolerate letterbox, but not the one on the sides. For gaming purpose on ultrawide, It have it's own benefits.. but still, I much prefer 3:2 over anything else.
Which is best from 16:9 or 16:10
I clearly prefer 16:10!
aren't we able to stretch games in 16:10 to full screen?
Yes but in this case you will stretch it "outside" your screen on the sides and potentially miss parts of the gameplay there...
Can we all agree that 16:9 is good for nothing
A QHD or 4K resolution will show more rows on the same aspect ratio than a 1080p.
Like the taller screen better. Only thing I missed about Apple 😊.
Would give us your top options on 3:2 screen laptop? I struggle funding relevant peers of Huawei Matebook 14 with 3:2 screen...thank you!
I think the Microsoft line up is very solid! You also have the screen Swift 3 with 3:2.
@@w2best many thanks! Support from Italy :)
Interesting topic! Thank you!
Glad you like it!
Awesome and informative video¡
Could you make a video for the best laptops for creators? I'm talking digital artists animators and video editors? I just can't decide which laptop to get. And maybe inclusw a few convertibles in it
It hasn't been my focus yet but if i make a few reviews and think i have the Intel - I'll do it.
4:40 That is not a fair comparison :p On the 3:2 screen you can see more colums, You should zoom in a little. There is not a huge difference between 16 :10 and 3:2.
hi which from these would be the (16:9 ) 2560x1600 vs 1920x1200 laptop display
Hi! Which one is best for Power BI?
I'm not sure, I'm not much of a power BI user.
So 3:2 vs 3.2:1.8 vs 3.2:2 aspect ratios
Perfectly!!!!!! 3:2 is the best and my wanted laptop is 14 inch and exactly 3:2 thanks for the vid rlly helped me
Great to be able to help!
good video, thanks
I'm glad you like it!
Great video thanks, I already ordered a dual monitor set 1050p, for work. So....yeah XD
Unfortunately all 3x2 monitors are 14 inch or smaller. I wish there were some 15 or 16 inch 3x2 laptops. That would be apic!
I'm new: Want the Oukitel RT2 1920 1200 with (350 NITS) as a Display readout for fishing sonar ONLY. CONDITIONS: Direct Austin,Texas sunlight and heat. Will the 350 be enough brightness??? Thanks
I got my dell inspiron plus the problem i encountered watching netflix wid a huge bezel up and down.. wat setting do u think sir i wll use to adjust and make it full screen
3:2 is good for .pdf display or music display. In portrait mode.
Very interesting!
Glad you think so!
Hello, im looking for a laptop to consume media when sitting in the hotel room in the evening after work. Im interested in the Slim 7 4700u version but there seem to be a slim 7 pro variant on the horizon with 16:10 display, 5600H prozessor and imroved cooling. do you think its worth to wait for it? Or is the 16:9 aspect ratio better anyway for browsing web, watching videos and palying some light games from time to time?
Also im wondering how the slim 7 behaves when placed on a bed or a couch, blocking the airflow while playing a video for example.
Consuming media is not so taxing. You won't need any beefy cpu for that so a 5600h or even 4700u is a bit of overkill! You can go i5 or 4500u to keep the price down. I think yoga slim 7 pro is great if you need the performance and the screen, but in your case i wouldn't be too bothered about it
Help me choose between two laptops both oled 2.8k resolution at same cost
1. 600 nits + pixel shift tech+ 720 p cam
2. 400nits +1440p cam and next gen processor + con: exhaust vents facing towards screen
My concerns is oled may damage without pixel shift and heat in later but is lucrative
Imo 400nits is fine. There must be some more differences than these? A better camera is a big one though at least if you do a lot of meetings.
Still using a 4:3 laptop here.
They made the 3:2 laptop instead of 4:3
computer screens started as 4 by 3, then the world went nuts about 10 years ago and manufactures started making this ridiculous wide screens where you can't see any vertical content.. God! They were even marketing it as a selling point "super wide screen" nonsense.. apps will then take some space from the top and bottom of the screen and you end up with 10 lines of document.. and when you put a vertical photo on a screen you find that's smaller than on an ipad. hah!! we're just rediscovering the wheel here but I'm glad manufacturers are getting some common sense back..
yes it started out 4:3, then to 16:10 then finally 16:9 in the last 12 years, now they are going back to 16:10
Somebody help me 🙏🏻, I need a laptop to work, but I'm confused about whether to choose a 14-inch 16:10 or 16:9 screen, a difficult choice because so far I've been using a 16-inch 16:9 screen
At 14" i always prefer 16:10. You just get extra space and pixel. No loss just gain. 😊
@@w2best God bless you, have a nice day, I really thank you and appreciate your help🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
so is 16:10 actually larger screen surface area than 16:9?
Indeed it is. You get extra pixels in the height :)
@@w2best But horizontal pixels are reduced in 16:10?
@@andrew007s No they the same usually.
3:2 is better
Most helpful.
I'm glad you like it! There will be more similar stuff coming up soon! :)
if the screens have the same width who cares about the bottom or top bars of 3:2? less scrolling = KING
In the 3:2 they don't have the same weight as 16:9 or 16:10. But i agree. Higher screen is great!
Perfect topic.
Thanks! I'm glad you like it!
Is the text clearer to read?
That depends on the resolution!
I just want an 3:2 with an 3050Ti, 90% work and 10% gaming :D
or with an 3060
I love my 3:2
Very useful
Thanks a lot!!
I really hate the 16:10
For what reason?
I love your plants
Oh thank you! :)
Whaaat i always thought macbook air was 16:9
Not the ones on the newer chassis:)
3:2 no brainer.
Like these format ?
16: 10 aspect ratio is the new 16:9.
thanks
but if you edit photos in 16:10 wouldn't it look differently on 16:9 screens as presumably most of your customers would have 16:9
As long as you edit the files in whatever resolution the photo should be there is no difference. That's not related to aspect ratio.
I miss 4:3
16:9 is the best
You think so! That's interesting! For what reason?
nice
16:9 best
I don't agree, but you decide for you!
3:2
