I don’t know of any getting shot down, but I know in iraq, Apaches where cautious of shilka. The radar usually picked them up long before they where at a distance where they where a threat, and the Apache would kill it with a missile from distance, but those quad 23’s where certainly something that the pilots didn’t want to get very close to.

An Apache can pop that radar dome over a mountain or hill, locate and identify the target, then go around and engage from a completely different angle. Advantages and disadvantages from either platform.
Video idea: Each team has one Maus and has to protect it, while also destroying the opposing team’s Maus. The non-Maus players have 3 lives and have to use WW2 tanks (No heavy tanks though).

Your commentary felt much more natural in this video than in some of your others, this one was a lot easier to watch. Personally, I feel like you could cut back on the frequency a little bit, but overall (in my opinion) you’re headed in the right direction!

Well, I think the AA that managed to hit at long ranges was largely high caliber ones like the 3.7cm or the 30mm or even 40mm guns. I could imagine the french 40mm AA could be pretty deadly as the 40mm has like over 100g of tnt equivalent and 1000m/s velocity while retaining a fairly high firerate (I think it was AMX-13 DCA or something)
And ww2 AA can be hidden pretty easily with radar stations being far away. No missiles, they can simply wait for a helicopter to come too close and then it's open season, these pilots are gonna fly a cabrio after that.

I witnessed the hit of an American Apache in Libya in 2011 by a 14.5 zis ... mounted on a truck ... but the sudden factor was the zis together and the height of the helicopter was less than 100 m ... the hit made it retreat to the sea to the "aircraft carrier"

No clues about real WWII weapons shooting real modern helicopters but there were plenty of instances of Cold War soviet equipment and AA autocannons similiar to what Ostwind II has shooting down Modern helicopters in Vietnam.
A lot of helicopters were shot down by small arms, machine guns and of course AA. Vietnam, Lebanon , Iraq, Afghanistan….. helicopters cant fly high cuz of SAMs

yes but it is not WWII, it is more recent (1960s)
WW2-style AA is a real threat to helicopters. It has short range, but a helicopter can fly into range without knowing.
