@@adambowman1161 Retro fever! :-) I looked for "pixel art" band saw Brandon's incredible "stores", lol, I could use this types of images for mini mosaics I currently working with.
What I love about the foliage having colour is that it makes an otherworldly feel to the whole piece. It also creates implications that could be used as foreshadowing, or be used for the player’s memorabilia-such as denoting safe or important locations. Heck, the coloured aspect can even be used as a driving force in the plot concept!
An axiom is an understood or commonly accepted truth. A verge is a boundary or delineation of a limit. So the game's name is could be altered to. . . The Limit of Truth. A good name itself! Alternatively, the boundary of truth or perhaps boundary of reality.
I love everything about the final piece. The imagination that went into it, the organic evolution of those ideas building up from the pixel work, -- and the final few splashes of colour accentuating the interesting thematical conflict of life and machine merging in a tiny ecosystem. Hat's off to you, Brandon!
Love the concept of the Writer. Being a larger creature and semi-humanoid makes it more menacing and opens up the creative possibilities for this world.
I love the concept of "the writer", it's super cyberpunk! Do you storyboard all your artworks? That'd partly explain how they're always so detailed, even in 1-bit :D
Thank you, I want to eventually try making a memory transfer animation with this concept! And usually I do sketch a little when I'm preparing a full scene; haven't done that for the past few pieces but I feel like they turn out better when I do!
Thanks man! You'll get there with practice - if you keep experimenting, over time you discover a process or style that works for you and makes everything more streamlined
Okay, here's my idea on how the memory bank would work. When you go to a place and start questioning things or putting clues together for someone, you have to have certain memories with you, or you just aren't able to solve that section. What would happen is you're given a blank space, and can choose from any of the memories you have with you to fill the gap. If you get the mechanic right, hopefully players wouldn't get frustrated after needing to go back and forth to the memory bank to get just the right memories. Maybe if you had a character talking about what the questions were going to be beforehand, or just a vague idea of the questions. Anyway, it would probably take some trial and error to get the mechanic to work, but anyway I think the memory bank idea is a really cool concept!
I had another idea! There could be places you can't go with certain memories, because you're being checked for certain information. Like if you go into a police station with the memory of breaking into the evidence room, you'll be arrested (or just not let in for whatever plot reason). So it becomes a puzzle of what memories have the evidence you need, without triggering certain events.
Outside of not having end consumers walking around with electron guns were really missing out with the death of the CRT. Rest in tiny little pixel pieces, you beautiful marvel of engineering
I couldn't do this without your guidance. Such an amazing artist and teacher. You have inspired me to create a better world through the pixel art medium! Thank you so much and please, don't stop. Thank you for being you!
If cryo lab was a real game, I would pay real money for that. Also, I'm really new to this channel, and I really enjoy it. Thank you for the amazing experience
I really like the idea of a memories deposit, it could be a strategic choice as there might be some memories that you need to bust a bad guy so you need to go back to the memory bank.
I love your artwork! This is really pretty, and I love the details of the video itself (the lovely little window boxes and such). Please keep on making!

Hahaha "in a healthy way" 😂thank you! I checked out a few of your vids - your style has quite an authentic retro gaming feel about it, very cool! I especially like the He-Man sprite with different costumes. Thanks for your support, and I wish you the best with your channel and your art! 😊
@@BJGpixel thanks a lot, i really like your 1 bit art, but i really like all of your art, the animations in the backgrounds is amazing, and the details are astonishing, i wish you the best too ^^ and thanks again
Kind of expected the pet to be a monkey in stead of a cat, not gonna lie, but the piece is awesome and these videos comenting on the whole process from an idea to a piece are really inspiring! :)
I find the idea of complex lighting and showing objects by the parts that are lit on them very cool. I advise you try do actually try it, since it provides a very cool look if managed properly
You should check out Axiom Verge if you’re looking for a sci-fi Metroidvania. I haven’t played it myself but it has a system shock sort of aesthetic and the pixel art is pretty good.
Thanks! Each pose is its own unique layer, so "holding" it for multiple frames just means that the same layer is active/visible for that duration. No need to redraw :D (that's how it is in Photoshop at least!)
Thanks for this awesome video. I had this idea. Can you do a livestream making art while viewers ask questions? It will be really appreciated. Keep it up
Your work is amazing. How can you transform an image into another 1-bit pixel. Congratulations. Would it be possible to transform the one image into another 128x64 pixel? thanks
Thank You! The current art is 160x144; going smaller like you suggest would be interesting to see how it changes with canvas size - you'd lose certain details, but I might have to do a comparison like that one day just to see!
That's literally the best pixelart channel i have ever seen
Yea, he pretty much is!
Oh yeah.
you should also see pixel overload

"The Writer" instantly reminds me of a game called Axiom Verge. Both (the game and your art) look awesome!
Yes

This is super-cool! I've dabbled in 1-bit before, but never anything close to this. Now I wanna go make a scene of my own.
Your subtle details really bring the whole thing to life. Love how the Writer was inspired by Mother Brain & the Chozo statues. . .🤩😏👌💯

Aw dang I really liked the face of the writer he reminded me of someone like no face or the scream mask
I really love you 1-bit style. Can you suggest how to train our skill and get used with it?
This is amazing!! It would be cool if this could ever be made into a real game.
Please do more 1-bit content!

"This cyberpunk dystopia was too creepy so I changed it."
Well, I think we're missing the point a little, lol.
I really love your channel bro, keep it square :)

Which is the best format to render a mock-up like this in Photoshop, in your opinion?
You should check out Axiom Verge if you’re looking for a sci-fi Metroidvania. I haven’t played it myself but it has a system shock sort of aesthetic and the pixel art is pretty good.
Hey man awesome vid, when you hold frames in an animation, do you redraw the frame multiple times or hold that single frame
Thanks! Each pose is its own unique layer, so "holding" it for multiple frames just means that the same layer is active/visible for that duration. No need to redraw :D (that's how it is in Photoshop at least!)
yep. im subscribing

In my opinion the robot having a human face is scarier
Great tutorial !!! By the way, could you show how to design the appearing and vanishing of those pixel letters?
I preferred the first Writer design
Nice; another video :)
Sub well earned!
ngl, the soulless writer looked a lot more interesting and cool to my eye
The text on the monitor in the memory bank says "Silicone on sapmire." Anyone know what this means?
Is that axiom verge
Was the CRTV part a filter or did you actually just put the piece on that kind of screen?
It's actually put through a television, using an HDMI-to-composite converter, and I also set up "scanlines" in Photoshop :D
@@BJGpixel thanks for the reply! i would try all that stuff if i was smart enough to do it lmao
Maybe everytime that Detective Boy dies he has some bot rented from a android store and then his memos are downloaded from the bank?
Petition for someone to make this into an actual game
You have a CRT monitor??
I want to play this game lol
Your detective character looks like it's having one eye higher than the other.
It looks like that because one eye is indeed 1px higher; was experimenting with angling the head/line-of-vision, looking up at the creature
Do you ever plan on making a game?
How do you published them with a nice resolution (Instagram)
now i cant unsee that the cat has a really big mouth on the side of its head
Silicone on Saphire
3-bit?
2-bit actually! 1-bit = 2 colours, and 2-bit = 4 colours
@@BJGpixel the math checks out.
@@BJGpixel do you ever want to to do a random color challenge?

You clickbaited me. This is 3 bits! Er... 2 bits?
This is very cool, but Don't google
"Axiom Verge" or "Hollow knight midwife" okay.
It will break the originality.
Now make pixel art with one color, not two.
Cyber punk: 2003
Actually 2 bit, there's black _and_ white
A bit has 2 states, like a switch - on or off, black or white, 0 or 1. But adding the red and green makes it 2-bit.
