  • From 28 October to 9 December 2011, the country's premier afro-pop outfit, Freshlyground, will be making things happen when they hit the road for an old school nationwide tour. Dubbed The Freshlyground 10 Year Birthday Love No Hate Tour, the 29-date showcase will see the band taking their award-winning afro-pop sound from large cities to small towns, in celebration of their 10 year anniversary and very own "Love No Hate" campaign. They join us live in studio this morning to perform some of their most loved hits from the past 10 years.

    Superb!
I just missed them as I left SA in 2002... Discovered them on a Dutch program of the singing duo Nick & Simon who made an extensive (musical) trip through SA and played this song on the radio in their car!
    Great vibe...

it sounds like Paul Simon because he went for a point of difference a few years back and used some african musicians and rhythms,(under African skies) these guys are actually African (the genuine article) They haven't copied him (Paul Simon is an amazing song writer though)

Yep reciprocal but Paul Simon made the effort to find Ladysmith Black Mabazo and offer a collaboration that then launched LBM onto the world scene. There was the raw South African sound and Paul Simon just tweeked it and thats the infuence I can hear in this song by Freshly Ground.

  • @zeburules

Umm I said Paul Simon feel, thats all..... I know very well they are African as I am African and went to Paul Simons Graceland concert in Zimbabwe in 1987.

Did Paul Simon have an impact on South African music? I thought it was the other way around.
I suppose it could have been reciprocal.
