I love how Batman reacts to the idea of a Thomas Wayne movie. Not only is it a brilliant critique of how Batman movies almost always retell the events of crime alley in someway shape or form, but I feel like Batman would legitimately be offended if someone tried to profit off of his tragedy. Not enough to take a legal action or anything but enough for to really bother him on a fundamental level.

For a NW fan, this sucks. Suicide isn't funny. And worse there's no where you can go but the comics to see NW most times. Even in YoungJ they barely show him as the series moves on. He used to be the star. Now you don't see him except in like 6 episodes.

I think this Nightwing is really good actually. Other than the reasons you've already said, it's a lot like the Venture Bros. in which a young adventurer grows up to be disheveled and traumatized adult by the adventures he went to when he was a young boy. This Nightwing still acts like he would normally act, cocky and assuming leadership, but there's more to it than being a handsome go-getter.
I love Harvey Gulien's performance as this nightwing. his delivery is hilarious. It's not at all serious and I'm happy to see him branch into voice acting with this.

You know some people think this version of Nightwing sucks but I think the reason a lot of the jokes work is because the writers *do* have a strong understanding of the characters and how they're perceived both by hardcore fans and the larger public. They exaggerate Dick Grayson's desperate need for approval and his fear of failure from the comics, to the point where he quickly becomes the laughingstock sidekick who needs rescuing... which is what many people thought of him when he was Robin.

For those who don't know, Vigilante (aka tarantula a female anithero in the actual comic) kills blockbuster a villain who learned dick's real identity and she convinced him the only way he can protect himself and not have his secret identity be exposed if he was to step out of the way so she can shoot him. Which put Nightwing in a serious dilemma in which he ultimately steps aside and let her kill Blockbuster. Which goes against everything he was fighting for and Batman taught him which he then goes into a mental break down/shock of him indirectly killing someone or letting someone be killed when he could have stopped it and tarantula goes on to take advantage of him in that state and force herself on him (rape)

People who act childish in a mental breakdown dont actually lived their childhood. Because the childs need is never met so the child in them never grew. Which actually makes sense since dick was taken by batman as a child to be trained as a crime fighter, never got to chance to be a normal kid. Another thing is his his self hate coming from the direct effect of batmans perfectionism and never finding anything enough. Do that to a child and they will grow up with a giant insecurity and a sense of perfectionism. In their mind there is always a critique that always finds the bad things in them and never finds it enough. Which again, is the effect of batman on dick.

People who act childish in a mental breakdown dont actually lived their childhood. Because the childs need is never met so the child in them never grew. Which actually makes sense since dick was taken by batman as a child to be trained as a crime fighter, never got to chance to be a normal kid. Another thing is his his self hate coming from the direct effect of batmans perfectionism and never finding anything enough. Do that to a child and they will grow up with a giant insecurity and a sense of perfectionism. In their mind there is always a critique that always finds the bad things in them and never finds it enough. Which again, is the effect of batman on dick.

It clearly isn’t realism given the show and it’s standard track record with how it treats the relative skill and powers of various heroes and villains, as for DC more generally I will agree with you that there has been a decline in quality in recent decades but that is perhaps less a problem with specific characters and more of a problem with writers and the medium as a whole.
As far as Damien Wayne in particular goes in most of his stories his skill is somewhat justified and his terrible personality is kind of a consequence of emotional immaturity and his dad being Batman, but I digress there are stupidly overpowered kids in all sorts of media it’s not an inherently bad trope, it’s only bad when it’s executed poorly.
