I was going to go with a new TMIC but I'm definitely going with a FMIC now just because it makes the engine bay look sexy af

Thanks for posting. How has this kit held up over time? Any long-term observations, regarding sustainability of performance, leaks, etc?

So when you put the pipes in the silicone you don't want each end of the pipes to touch inside the silicone?

Only downside going FMIC is that absolute cluster mess of loom that's now exposed when you remove the TMIC. Must be a way to de loom all that surely

Inter cooler does nothing with a non boosted car. Please don't be that guy that buys a product and knows nothing about it

Like the videos! But how come you always just happen to have "had it for a little over a week now"...i plan on doing this modification after getting a bigger turbo and will be referencing this video for sure.

because it is usually a week from when ive installed the part to when i am narrating the final video. I usually install my parts on a weekend and then edit and finalize the video during the next weekend as i am busy during the week.

For stock turbo this IC is not needed. aftermarket TMIC is way better, even for BT.

Isn't top mount intercooler better than the front mount? Heat goes up so top mount intercooler would be better. And what advantage do you get going with an aftermarket intercooler (COBB for example) over the stock?

    • @MangoSmoothie16

heat going up is bad. The intercooler cools down the intake charge and lowers boost air temps. The colder the air, the better. An aftermarket top mount is cheaper, easier to install, and has similar performance gains after moving moving. The problem with a top mount is while in traffic or after sitting, all the heat rises up (as you said) and causes heat soak. Intake temps shoot way up (because the intercooler can't perform its job), power drops, and it can be dangerous for the engine if under high load. High boost air temps can cause knock, especially under high load. So you have to move for a second to get fresh air into the scoop. Front mounts tend to heat soak less, but that's the main benefit. All in all, an aftermarket intercoolers (top mount or front mount) will flow more air and mainly cool the air better. More air and cooler air means more oxygen. More oxygen = more power. It's a worthwhile upgrade even on a stock car

Heat goes up, so heatsoak is a problem with the top mount. 2nd gens can stay cooler due to the ram air hood potential of the hood scoop. Top mount gets uninterrupted air at a lower area, aka a cooler area. Colder air stays lower as it's more dense vs hot air. TMIC saves space in the engine bay and costs less for manufacturers to use.
