Last night my neighborhood experienced a five hour blackout, due to a freeway accident. My Bluetti EB3A was able to keep my full size fridge running, while my Allwei 300W kept the living room lights and the stereo going for about 4 of those hours. If the blackout had lasted all night, the prospect of replacing hundred of dollars in frozen food would have become real. Thank you, Prof. Hobo for selling me on these products. It's hard to truly understand the value of these So-Gens until you're in the dark. I think I need an AC70.
@@hcdata4289I don’t see specific known problems in my research (looks like a typical smattering of different issues)- is there something you’re referring to? I’m looking to purchase my first power station, so TIA for any insights.
Just be sure to test your Bluetti products thoroughly when you buy them. I didn't test my early run EB70 and it had the issue where it would die at 65% battery. I discovered the issue a month after the two year warranty expired because it sat on my shelf for emergency use for the entire time I owned it and they refused to cover it. I eventually paid them to fix it because that was still cheaper than buying a new unit but not super happy they made me pay for a known problem on those units.
I had an issue with the ecoflow 760w station. A 2w fan was draining the battery to 0% in like 10 hours. Ecoflow sent me a new one and I shipped the old one back for free. They also sent me a credit for $80 for changing my Amazon review to a positive one after the resolution.

I am one of those cheap B*stards so I thank you for this review. I do DIY for all my solar on my RV but was always looking for a simple, lightweight unit I could bring along. The AC2A fits that niche. Thanks for the excellent reviews (as always). I used your discount code and am now awaiting my unit.
I just ordered the AC70!! Thanks for the discount and for all your hard work. My Jackery 500 crapped out twice in 3 1/2 years. hope this one lasts. Thanks!!!!
Love seeing a lower priced one as it easily makes a purchase to use for UPS very likely. I need a new UPS for my main server that can push 500w on heavy load (rare) and a standard UPS is $200 so $300 more for a full backup that can handle the server and other items (router/modem/switch) totally worth it.
Thank you I used your link to order the AC2A so it could live in my car. Years ago I purchased a Jackery 1000 it lives at my apartment very good for emergency backup power. The AC2A will be used as such also to run my laptop or phone in an emergency. Not yet a Nomad where I would need something bigger for full time use. I enjoy your channel, I’m subscribed and gave it a thumbs up. 👍🏽
Thanks! It's kind of putting the cart before the horse, but I am watching the video after purchasing the unit. That is only before watching quite a number of your videos to find the right one. I have a very good impression of Bluetti because of their MaxOak laptop charger that served me many many many many many many many many years getting drained most of the way down on a daily basis. I am really pleased with this purchase and the fact that the AC2A seems to have some smart capabilities.
I really want to see five runs of UPS transfer time on an oscilloscope. Some power supplies are more forgiving than others. Would be grateful if you'd publish them. Really love how it has a clean inverter too, that's a very good sign that it might be a good UPS.

They won't accept a return unless it is broken. Then those sit on a shelf forever until they get around to it which damages the batteries. They fix what is wrong then replace the case to make it look new. They don't replace the batteries!
As a weekend warrior, I love the Dr. Prepare 100AH lifepo4 battery with Hub that you introduce to your Channel. Mainly because I can buy two DR. Prepare batteries and stay out up to six days vs. One bluetti at any capacity.
Great review. I do want to add that there appears to be a misconception that the device prioritizes solar over grid when dual charging. In my testing, the device stops prioritizing solar once it hits 100% charge. I bought my unit so that it would trickle charge off solar during the day and then charge from the grid at night. Unfortunately, it stops charging off solar once it hits 100%. All the reviewers I have seen so far incorrectly state it prioritizes the solar while dual charging when their device isn’t fully charged. I wish Bluetti would add a PV prioritization to the AC70 and AC180 models. I believe full PV prioritization is only available on the 200, 300, 500 models.
I love the WiFi connection and other app features on my River 2 Pro, but I do like the output-only USB C ports that Bluetti uses, makes it a lot easier to charge smaller batteries that have USB in/outputs. The EB3A works well for me, particularly because my solar panels I have from Goal Zero work well with it!
@hobotech I recently purchased the AC70 as an upgrade to a no-name 300w Solar Generator. I've watched this video several times trying to figure out something that I really don't see in your testing/review. This could be me not understanding something. Hi! Is there a switch in the AC70 that it can be recharge in a wall outlet that outputs 220V AC in 60Hz and also make the AC70's AC outlet to output 220v AC in 60Hz or is it if you bought it in the USA and the AC input and output will be in USA AC specs only and cannot be change?
Bluetti did a poor job explaining the purpose of the grounding screw that screws into a port on the side of the Ac70. Not sure when or if you need that particular feature? Any thoughts?
hey would you leave the eco mode off the AC side if you want it to run your little fan etc all night? I sure would not want it to turn off my stuff off on low power at night.
Do you know if I can AC charge the Bluetti AC70 from the 120VAC 1500W INVERTER in my Mitsubishi PHEV .... I am not sure if the Outlander has Modified AC or not.
From their website "please avoid recharging it below freezing." Why cant they just block charging, or at least limit it to 0.05C. My LiFePO4 battery for my dachcam have this feature, why not Bluetty....
I'd be curious about your thoughts head-to-head between the Ecoflow River 2 and the AC2A. It's clear that Bluetti is seeing the AC2A as a competitor to the River 2 based on the price point. I know the River 2 has more battery capacity but is more limited with the solar input (200w for the AC2A vs 110w for the River 2). Plus, as you mentioned, the bidirectional charging via the USB -C port. However, the output on that port is only 60w on the River 2 vs 100w on the AC2A. Do you think the overall capacity and USB-C bidirectional charging makes up for the solar input and the 100w USB-C output?

If it's within warranty period simply return it. Next time don't let it sit more than 6 months without charging it. All batteries go dead if they sit too long.

HOBOTECH wood pellet stoves, absolutely need the UPS feature. Please start mentioning wood pellet stoves, as a reason to use a power generator with effective UPS.
Thanks AND I'm frugal/cheap but want it to work. 100% Bluetti web doesn't describe/explain etc .. their products which is extremely frustrating. I've seen all these advertised Ac70, AC 70s, AC 70p and trying find out difference - Well I give. The other issue that is accross the industry is the manufacturers SHOULD only rate the WH that is usable, or less converter losses, internal loses etc.
Was looking to get this ac70 but can't find it in mexico, there's some other models of bluetti or ecoflow river I think it's called that but they selling twice as much, only thing decent is vtoman but the recharging Is so slow on them 😢 I will have to keep looking , great video excellent 💯👍
I see adds for RECYCLED Bluetti AC70 using your image. 1. Is that really you. 2. I've seen a number of fires related to Lithium Battery's. Is this an issue with 'solar generators'. (Some are saying to never store these 'solar generators' in your house.) 3. Is a rebuilt/recycled unit worth the investment? (My plan is to use one as my main power source for my '61 Nomad 16 travel camper in the summer and as backup power in my house in the winter when power goes out. $. also being tole that you can't leave them standing for extended periods of time. That they require you to cycle them at least every 3 months (Drain 'empty' and recharge) or they will fail.
Will these units auto restart charging with the solar panels plugged in overnight without having to unplug and then plug them in? A few units will such as the Pecron.
thank you HOBOTECH for the details that we need So AC70 solar panels cant be over 10A..? or will the AC70 limit the Amps coming in to 10 and drop the total watts in magic land was hoping it would take the full watts and some how dial up the volts.. not happening is it...
Really wish Bluetti would update the app for more granular charging options. I’m not a fan of the high charge rate of the ac180 (can’t remember if you said what the watt rate was for standard on the ac70). I would like to set it somewhere between silent and standard.
Thanks for remembering the little guys like us hobo tech even though your becoming more and more successful your still remembering us yes your 100% right recession is basically upon us 👍
timelapse at 21:07 "it didn't flicker" there are like 10 frames with such a flicker on AC2A input 323 99 output 169 thanks for testing though. really appreciate, if such test will become regular. (i don't think 36 hours timelapse needed, but about 3-4 hours test should show if there is issue with UPS mode)
That flicker is from the extreme time lapse speed catching refresh of the unit. Neither turned off or failed in the 36 hours which was the issue with the EB3A under load.
@@HOBOTECH oh, then we understood "flicker" differently ) what i meant, i find it annoying that in supposed passthrough mode eb3a actually used some charge from the battery and then periodically charger and fan kicked in. and looks like ac2a does the same (at least the dropping to 99% and charging part)
Leave it plugged in for a day or so and see if the UPS still works or if it errors out and kills the pass through power as well as deplete the unit. The past offering would do that with no load on the unit.
@@HOBOTECH It took mine a couple of times before the errors started. So far the firmware update has corrected it once I finally received it. No knock to them, good products at good prices, just do not want someone who needs the ups to work have it fail in the middle of the night due to the issues.
Im looking to get a sogen to try running my 10x13 shed behind my mobile home. what do you recommend. The most powrful device i'll be running very seldomly will be my air compressor not sure its draw offhand. I'll have a stereo and lights that will be most often used out there. but not everyday. if power were to go out will whichever unit you suggest be capable of run stuff in house like oxygen machine or other small items. wish I could afford a large unit big enough to run house off of.
Air compressors are brutal. The inrush current when starting is huge when there is already 70 psi in the tank. I have a 1 HP 4 gallon compressor, and my AC200P (2000 watt output, 4800 watt surge) will start it, but I can tell it's a strain.
just bought the ac70 and the ac side is causing an alarm on my electronics put a tester in the outlet and it is showing reverse polarity can you check it out on yours if it shoes the same problem ? and what could be the problem ?

Did they fix the display timeout issue? That is one of the reasons I returned the EB3A. That and that all ports were on the front.
You can change the timeout.
@@HOBOTECH Hello, Found you today, Impressed with your presentation. Have subscribed. Be so kind & tell me how to change the time out. Thinking of buying a 2nd EB3A. Thx.....

HOBOTECH wood pellet stoves, absolutely need the UPS feature. Please start mentioning wood pellet stoves, as a reason to use a power generator with effective UPS.
Great intro sfx!
Might buy the smaller one for my car to charge my work batteries with solar
I want to run a fan for work that draws about 1300 watts. When you hit 1500 watts without power lifting will the AC70 sustain that for 5 mins or so?
Hello.
And Allpowers ? It's good or.....???
I wanna buy an R600!!
Thanks 😊
(Some are saying to never store these 'solar generators' in your house.)
I want the Ecoflow Pro so bad. Ugh. Over 2 grand. Do you know what deals they are having for Black Friday? Thanks.
I think I'm going for the BLUETTI AC60/P. Good prices on the Bluetti site. $200 more on Amazon. Any codes for the BLUETTI AC60/P?
So the ac2a 300w is basically the new eb3a 600w or the eb3a 600w still the better option for your $?
AC70 VS River Pro 2 Which in your personal opinion is better? or are they pretty much the same??
Better for what? Watch both reviews and decide.
@@HOBOTECH I have watched both reviews thanks. I already know my opinion on which I like better. I was just asking you yours.
Will these units auto restart charging with the solar panels plugged in overnight without having to unplug and then plug them in? A few units will such as the Pecron.
thank you HOBOTECH for the details that we need
So AC70 solar panels cant be over 10A..? or will the AC70 limit the Amps coming in to 10 and drop the total watts
in magic land was hoping it would take the full watts and some how dial up the volts.. not happening is it...
Amps are always self limiting. A product will only pull as many as it can handle.
Thanks!
Really wish Bluetti would update the app for more granular charging options. I’m not a fan of the high charge rate of the ac180 (can’t remember if you said what the watt rate was for standard on the ac70). I would like to set it somewhere between silent and standard.
Which brands (or models) tend have the highest Wh efficiency? The ac70 was impressive. Great review as usual!
It varies per model. Bluetti and Ecoflow generally have the highest. You'll have to watch my playlist for specific models.
Which solar panel makes the most sense for the AC70? I'm a cheap bastard and want something
Thanks for remembering the little guys like us hobo tech even though your becoming more and more successful your still remembering us yes your 100% right recession is basically upon us 👍
timelapse at 21:07
"it didn't flicker"
there are like 10 frames with such a flicker on AC2A
input 323 99 output 169
thanks for testing though. really appreciate, if such test will become regular. (i don't think 36 hours timelapse needed, but about 3-4 hours test should show if there is issue with UPS mode)
That flicker is from the extreme time lapse speed catching refresh of the unit. Neither turned off or failed in the 36 hours which was the issue with the EB3A under load.
@@HOBOTECH oh, then we understood "flicker" differently )
what i meant, i find it annoying that in supposed passthrough mode eb3a actually used some charge from the battery and then periodically charger and fan kicked in.
and looks like ac2a does the same (at least the dropping to 99% and charging part)
Can you do a comparison between AC70 and the Ecoflow models? Looking for a good camp generator in late 2023/ TIA!!!
I have reviews on virtually every model. You can do your own comparisons.
Is bluetti better than ecoflow?
Can you do a 12v cigarette out put test and see if it and handle my diesel heater that starts up at 141w then down to 8-9w constant run
Do you need the app/remote control or is it fully controllable from the unit?
The app is optional but there are only some settings that can be changed via app.
Leave it plugged in for a day or so and see if the UPS still works or if it errors out and kills the pass through power as well as deplete the unit. The past offering would do that with no load on the unit.
I show a 36hr test in the video ...
@@HOBOTECH It took mine a couple of times before the errors started. So far the firmware update has corrected it once I finally received it. No knock to them, good products at good prices, just do not want someone who needs the ups to work have it fail in the middle of the night due to the issues.
I have a EB3A and I just got an AC2A. Can I connect them together?
Through the app can you turn off the display while using the sg?
love watching you throw the cords 😂😂
Do you know if the AC70 will run a refrigerator during a power outage and for how long?
It will run a standard size fridge. Average is 1.2kWh per day so AC70 run it about 8 hours
just bought the ac70 and the ac side is causing an alarm on my electronics put a tester in the outlet and it is showing reverse polarity can you check it out on yours if it shoes the same problem ? and what could be the problem ?
Inverter AC doesn't work like grid AC. Inverters output hot on both leads. This is normal.
Did this turn out to be an issue, @philm5116? How did Bluetti respond?
