If you are doing something you love you will never work a day in your life. Life is hard and it's full of ups and downs but putting your focus on and trusting in God makes it a whole lot easier. I'm not saying that troubles won't come your way but dealing with those troubles is easier when you have a relationship with God.

Born in 1968, I can relate to EVERYTHING in this song. From Star Wars, Evil Keneviel, Stretch Armstrong, when Dallas was America's team. I can tell you exactly where I was when I heard the news about Elvis dying (and my Mom did cry), and where I was when I heard the news the Challenger exploded on Jan 28, 1986. This song is my childhood.

This song hits so close to home with me. I can still remember me and my dad, mom, and brothers watching the Dukes of Hazzard on friday nights. I still remember me and my brothers going to the arcades playing video games like pac man, defender, and so many others. I still remember us playing outside even after the sun went down. Chasing lighting bugs in the summer. Waking on saturday mornings and watching cartoons til noon. Then getting our fishing poles and heading to a small pond near the house to catch bass or bluegill bream. Or catching catfish . Great times. Very great times.

I've loved this song for a long time, but never found myself crying over it. In fact, I always laughed about it (in a good way). But tonight, and this week after some major transition in my life getting past a very very dark time in my life that has spanned several years with Alzheimer's and legal issues by people who need to just stay out of people's lives, I found myself reminiscing and this song really busted my emotions open unexpectedly. I don't cry. Really never have since I was a tiny kid. Always put on the straight face, but I lost it tonight. Thanks @MarkWills for writing/producing/performing this song!

I’d love to be a ‘70s and ‘80s kid like several of my cousins, my stepbrother and stepsister. But everything in God’s timing. I was an ‘80s and ‘90s kid and I share some of these memories. Dealing with responsibilities and rarely seeing family that I grew up with “makes me wish sometimes” that it was 1980 something! God bless!

Have loved this song since it came out, having been born in 1967 totally my life in a song!!! Remember the neighbor in our apartment crying when Elvis died (she was a fanatic). And was standing in the middle of Main Street in Leesburg, FL when the shuttle went up, had the tv blasting so I could hear the countdown and when it exploded I freaked as I knew it was not to do that. Very impactful song for sure. The kids today just wouldn't understand.

In 1980 I was a 13 year old eighth grader. 3650 days later, as the decade dwindled to a close, I had just secured my first job post college graduation, sporting my new (Cheesy) 1989 Candy Apple Red Camaro RS with matching mag wheels, had an apartment, a pretty college sweetheart and a slew of college buddies. So my experience living the 80's have defined who I am. In 2003, I was going through a sudden and unexpected divorce when this song popped on my car radio on night while driving home after trying to drown my sorrows at a local joint. Three lines in to the tune I began to cry so hard, that I had to pull over to the shoulder of the road. This song, that for most people of my generation should have been one of the happiest, left me- that night- so pathetically lonely and so distant from those happy times, then just a few years back. Now, all these years later, I feel a bit silly about crying to such a great but cheesy song. I guess that country music for ya.

As a 48yr old man, this song holds memories of days gone by... I have to Quote Ralph Spangler " I’m last of the generation that can relate to a lot of this. I hope and pray that young men open doors and wait on women. Love your wife/girlfriend and cherish every moment. Treat others with respect and take advice. Most importantly don’t work yourself to death, take the vacation days and spend every free moment doing what you love. Say “I love you” as often as you can to those you hold dear, don’t hold grudges and forgive the ones who did you wrong. Lastly let a greater power into your life." Amen Ralph and thank you.
