When my son received a head shot in AFG about 9 yrs ago, this was the song that was playing that lit his eyes up after the surgeries and wondering the extent of his brain damage. This was his go-to song as he was going through some tough physical therapy and recovering what he was able to recover physically and mentally. I am so impressed with that kid. And for the record- he's doing well. This song will be one of both of our favorites! He took the bit in his mouth and just kept going and he's on the other side and doing fine. Thanks for that song. Its message is a good one.
In 2014 (inside of about 30-40 days) I received a 42% pay cut, had a head on/sideswipe wreck with an 18 wheeler and my premature baby got put in the hospital for failure to thrive. This became my anthem. As the light at the end of the tunnel got closer I'd hear this song on days when something good happened. I currently make double what I made prior to the paycut, drive a new Tundra and that premature little girl now down gymnastics like an Olympian. God is good and this song is awesome!
One way I go through hell 6 is by remembering to count my blessings on a daily bases. Lost my husband of 46 years when he passed 4 years ago, but and I do shed a lot of tears (nothing wrong with that cleanses the soul) but I have so many wonderful memories with him, and have so many daily blessings from God that helps me keep on going when I am going through hill!"
I can never thank you enough for this song! In 2016 I was diagnosed with invasive stage 2 breast cancer which required a complete mastectomy along with lymph node removal. I chose this song as my 'fight song'......I listened to it every day - sometimes twice a day. It kept me positive.....motivated....and ready to tackle the next day. LOVE IT Rodney Atkins!!!! Thank you SO MUCH for your music. You definitely have a 'forever fan' ;)
My daughter was 2 when she was diagnosed with Leukemia. This was "Her Song"! Every time we drove to Childrens Hospital she would belt it out the best she could. We sang it on repeat for miles and miles. Shes been off treatment 3 years now and I still tear up every single time I hear it play.
My son had a brain tumor several years ago. I played this song for him all the time in the hospital and when we got home. He fought until he was back to normal for the most part. Thank you Rodney for this inspiring song
Rodney, this song helped me get through some very difficult and dark days during chemo and radiation for stage 4 throat cancer......kept on going, scratching and fighting for my family...thank God, lots of prayers, kicked cancer's ass so far, 14 years ago this month got the clean bill of health !! Been able to meet and see 7 of our grandkids...always looking forward !!!
Was recently in hospital for 5 days w 2 different infections, an open wound, and In absolute pain. The nurse aide, Andy, recognized my loneliness and despaire. He also recognized I still had inner strength and sang this song to me. Well, we sang it together. I broke down in tears of rejuvenation for the first time in weeks. Thank you Andy for knowing this song!!!! You are in the right profession!!
After all these years, this song still pops in my head when things get bad. It has been nice to have a "theme song" of sorts for what I've always said and was taught growing up!
I lost my son in March 2022. He was a Master Sergeant in the United States Army, 22 years in and 2 months from his 40th birthday. Trea took his life! 6 deployments, 1st CAV Infantry! 22 a Day!! Too many! My baby Boy! Thank you for this song!😀❤️🙏
I am SOOO SORRY! I lost my only baby girl in 2011 the same way. She survived two separate IED complex attacks in IRAQ driving 52 wheeled Convoy trucks for 15 months and received a TRAUMATIC BRAIN INJURY that wasn't diagnosed for 4 years and NEVER TREATED. She loved what she did so even though she was suffering she re-enlisted to Germany where it got terribly bad and she finally reached out for help twice to no avail. She just couldn't stand the pain anymore the horrific headaches the insomnia the nausea the anxiety the tinnitus and so much MUCH MORE, that she took her life on ACTIVE DUTY October 3rd 2011. There are at least, at the very least, 22 VETERANS and some studies say as many as 3 to 4 ACTIVE DUTY soldiers, that Take Their Lives EVERY day🥺😥😢😭🙏❤️🇺🇲💔 She went through hell now I AM!!! #22plus1ActiveDutySuicide #22toomany

This was the last song my dad heard. Before he passed away. He had cancer and was scared about dying. I felt that this song came at a crucial time in his life. And as a pastor. It gave him some peace.
This song still makes me think of my daddy being in the ICU the first time. I love this song Love the message. Love to sing along but I can never hear it without it bringing tears to my eyes. Daddy fought his cancer for a long time after that ICU stay. It'll be 10 years that he's been gone in October. To me this is an anthem to tell people to keep fighting. Keep going even when it's hard.
I had never heard this song until recently and when I finally did hear it it was perfect timing. My sweet daughter passed away 2 months ago and this song randomly popped up in my Pandora stream. It's been hell!!! This song was definitely something I needed to hear. I'm walking everyday by faith in spite of how difficult this couple months has been. Thank you Rodney for this one!!!
I have fallen on what I've thought was hard times then life kicked me and I thought things were bad till they got even worse. This song is on my list and keeps me going every day.
This right here is real music, and the only reason someone would dislike this is if they're brainwashed into hating country music or hating God. This song helps people get through problems every single day, it's truly beautiful and a blessing that we can listen to it. I'm going through hell right now myself by losing my job and having a little one to tend to with no income. Relistening to this beautiful song a few minutes ago brought tears to my eyes as I felt everything was going to be alright, I can't let the devil get me down and mess with my mind.
Rodney Atkins is great! The best underrated country artist there is! Sadly I haven't heard much about him for a couple of years. But he's still amazing, his songs are timeless.
Currently going through the roughest time that I've had in a long time and I needed this. I've been weeping in my car not sure what to do the past few hours and stumbled across this song. Thank you ❤
I feel the same. It's been a rough few months, to say the least, with what seems to be blow after blow of bad news then even worse news. I'm driving the other day & this song comes on, which I haven't heard in years. It was meant to be because it's lifted my spirits to keep going. It'll get better. It has to eventually you'd think, right? I always try to keep in mind that positive thoughts = positive outcomes. As Dory says, "Just keep swimming. Just keep swimming." Best wishes & God bless. ❤
I hope you are doing better since you posted your comment I've been there so many times homeless broke no car etc I wrote you a reply to share another comforting song "Just Be Held by Casting Crowns it'll inspire you i guarantee it ❤

Sending this one out to my best friend. She moved here to Canada from Australia some years ago and never really adjusted well. She’s been super depressed and homesick, especially as of late. Normally, this time of year she’s going home to see everyone for some weeks. Keep your face up. It won’t always hurt this bad. I promise. Love you Kate XX
Every time i've been going through a rough patch in the last ten years this song pops on the radio during one of those 'what the hell am I gonna do now" solo drives. Thanks man. I know you don't know me but this song really helps.
Unfortunately it's not always that easy. Especially when ALL you know is how to be strong and a fighter. People DON'T realize how draining it can be. And I speak from personal experience. That's ALL I know. 😢😢😢😢😢😢

On June 3rd 2011, I was in a serious car accident and lost a very close friend and almost lost my own life. I was depressed for a very long time and hit rock bottom. This song kept me going. Thank you for this song.
10 years ago my mom and I were staying with a family friend. My brother left for the Army and my sister had passed away. They were both my only friends. After I heard this song I started to cowboy. Broke horses and trained em to be ropin or buckin horses. To this day that’s how I make my livin! My family prospers because of my determination and I credit this man for part of my success!
song reminds me of my dad. has major open heart surgery in a couple of weeks. never seen the man cry till he got the news. just picturing him in a hospital bed gives me the chills, he's a tough man. think he needs to hear this song ♡
This song saved my ass when I was going through my rehab off of drugs and I'm never going to forget it and every time I feel down and I feel sad and I feel kind of helpless I put this on and reminds me where I was and where I'm going I took a one-way ticket to the right world
So true. I lost my 11yr old son this song came on the radio the day he pass away. Never give up no matter what your HELL is. There are angles on the street willing to hold your hand and pull back on your feet. Never give up
This past year and half my dad had stroke, Covid hid and my mom told not to visit her, my dad and the girls (my nieces) then my depression, harmful ways hit. It hit me hard. I went through hell. Two hospital visits and 18 months later I finally see the green grass.
I'm a truck driver, I've been listening to this song every day, helps me get through my day... this virus shit is kicking my ass but I'm not gonna let it.. I'll keep on moving!
I grew up to this song listening to it with my dad. Not ever realizing that one day, this will be my fight song. Life is pretty dang tough, just being 15 I've been through a crap ton. I've wanted to give up multiple times, but I kept fighting through the pain. To those who have friends or family members going through depression, please don't tell them"it will be ok" Or to "get over it" . Those words help literally nothing. You may not see the pain their going through but just try to understand. Because your not in their shoes. Your not walking through hell, scared you'll never find a way out. They are. And to those who are going through hell, please... Please don't give up. Life is really tough but God only gives his most strong and well deserving soldiers the the real battle. Good luck to all whom reads this.
This song is the biggest reason I didn't try to give up after my mom passed and why I quit self harming myself and I thank God for this song everyday 🙏 God bless😇
I lost my 21 year old son to epilepsy, and as old as this song is. Ever since the week of his funeral I've heard this on the radio, or somewhere. It's as though he has sent me this song, for those tough moments. After hearing it about the 6th time. It really dawned on me this song depicts how it feels. Rest Easy sweet baby boy of mine Michael🥰
I am going through hell now and this is the song that is in my mind almost daily! In between all the tears, this song helps me to be thankful for myself, and all the angels in my life!!!!
i always loved this song but the song has way more meaning after going through a ton of trauma in my 26 years i can picture different parts of my life throughout the lyrics.
it wasn't Rodney Atkins' son, Elijah, that died. It was Craig Morgan's son, Jerry Greer that died in a boating accident that resulted in him drowning. Rodney Atkins just sent Craig his condolences.
Cynthia McDaniel may the LORD help them through this terrible time of loss and help them adjust. It sucks losing some of your family especially your kids or parents. My condolences
Well, I'm from Kuwait, and English is my second language, but can't stop listening to and loving country music. The lyrics and the tones of the music are simply mind blowing and soul refreshing.
When this song came on the radio when I was a child, I didn’t understand it or relate to it, I thought I’d rather listen to something else, but as an adult, it sure as hell sits well with me now. I was too oblivious as a child to appreciate it.
YOU AINT LYING YOU GD MUTANT. GO STAR IN SOME X-MEN MOVIE AND LISTEN TO SOME Y-BOC TRES IF YOU WANT TO GET SOMETHING DONE WITH YA LIFE. FUC IT STINKS. FUCKING JOKE. LAUGH AT ME AND YOU WILL EXPERIENCE THE LIKES OF HELL
Thank you for this song! It's gotten me through some tough times in my life and it's helping me get through some tough times now. I hope you realize the impact this has had on so many people's lives and the inspiration it has provided when people are at their lowest points in life. This song is so much more than just entertainment - you have made a difference in people's lives and the world and I am very grateful . Happy Thanksgiving and God Bless!
Im dedicating this song for everyone going through it around the globe friends brothers sisters . Please remember that there's nothing to hard for the Lord our God is 🙏 Awesome Amen Glory be to God almighty in the highest.
This song has had a special meaning for me since October 2011 when my husband and I lost just about everything due to a financial jam we got into. :D April 2015 we paid it off six months early. Thanks Rodney Atkins, we got through Hell!!!!!
I heard this song way back when it first came out, but hadn't heard or thought of it since. Then I went through some hellish things the past few years, and the first part of the refrain suddenly popped into my head recently. I could not for the life of me remember anything other than, "If you're going through hell, keep on going." So it's been popping into my head a lot the past few days, so I finally decided to look it up. Honestly... I feel like this video trivializes the meaning of the song a bit. Also... there's nothing wrong with showing that you're scared. Other than those things... I really like this song. I'm not a big fan of Country music, but I like this one. For the music and the lyrics. Mostly the lyrics though.
I have stage 4 metastasized: colon cancer and this song really helped me this week when they told me I was declining. Life has been hard for me for many years. I try to find the blessings in everything. I looked up this song and added it to my Cancer Fight Songs playlist. You can been for that this song is one I will be playing for awhile, I'm sure
This guy is just simply amazing!!! Keep rocking out and do your thing!!! Keep bringing the hits and well keep on listening!!!! Much RESPECT and love!!!!
Nikki Clark This is country rock... it has a rock beat. Lol I'm a music major who's studied everything from jazz to metal to classical... I know the genres.
I came back to this song last nite. This is literally my theme song right now. I'm literally "going through hell". And listening to the song now with a fresh take, having not heard it in a while, is putting everything into perspective for me. It's amazing how a song can do that.
I don't know if it's just me or not but does anybody else ever feel like, there's just something about country music, both older and newer, that makes your spirit soar and your heart and soul really happy? Like, really and truly happy. It probaly sounds a little strange but it's amazing at the same time. I love it and I love country music so much and always will.
It’s because country music is very honest, close to the heart music. It’s music that tells stories of life and people dealing with life. And it’s because there is a connection to faith and love and family in so much of it.
I had this in my head at the hospital, I was there for suicide. Then when got in the car it was playing from the beginning. What a miracle. It helped me not crash my car.
One of my friends from high school lost her father suddenly this last Tuesday (it's Sunday November 1 as I write this comment). She (and I) had just started college (at different colleges), but neither of us seemed to expect this. Her family's going through hell. Please pray for them.
I was listening to this song when my grandma was battling cancer.... she couldn't fight for long she died on my mom's birthday October 5th and I couldn't stop thinking about this song this song keeps me going
I wish I had this song when my dad was murdered. It definitely felt like I was going through hell. By the grace of god 20 years later I feel like I’m finally done grieving. 😢 atleast not as bad as before
This song came out when i was newly out of the military suffering from injury and PTSD. A very dark time in my life....this is one of the reasons i did not succumb to the darkness.
I’ve never been a fan of country music, but this is one of my all time favorite songs. None of that fake stuff about beer, trucks, and dirt roads, just a down to earth song with a good message. Love it.
Hey bud. let people believe what they want to believe. I can see with those videos you've posted that you are not the most mentally stable person, but please don't go up to people and cuss them out because of their religion because I don't see religious people swearing at atheists because they don't believe in a religion. Hope you learn from your mistakes. :)
Love love love this beautiful rendition to healing through emotional-mental pain, self destruction and the eventual rebirth that will come if you just keep doing the work....beautiful and inspirational song that comes to mind, body and soul every every every time that I am in the flames....keep walking...
Cody Arbogast yes I agree!! I hate all this crap music they got now, the rap, hip hop all that. Country music is my life I love it. And what a great song by Rodney Atkins.
Me and my momma got through A LOT of hard times with one of us putting this song on to constantly remind us to keep on keeping on and that we'd end up okay after all🙏🏼

YOU DRIVE FOR DC. FUCKING GREEN LANTERN. PROBABLY DRIVE LIKE MY ASSHOLE FROM A HOLE IN A GROUND
My sister is a 21 yrs on road truck driver. 😊 You got this.
I'm not asking for any likes, but only understanding
This song is the biggest reason I didn't try to give up after my mom passed and why I quit self harming myself and I thank God for this song everyday 🙏 God bless😇
This song has inspired me not to give up on life thank you
Jayden Gaffey Same here!! Less than a week ago.
Me and you both brother
Never give up on life don't ever be scared to ask for help
This is my go to song. It reminds me not to give up on life even if it feels like life has given up on me.
How does this not have more views? This is one of his best songs!!!
This is real music, no auto tone, no lip syncing and just pure talent which is a very rare sight in modern music
Rest Easy sweet baby boy of mine
Michael🥰
Bless You. I'm so sorry.
He spoke words I couldn’t express and for that I am thankful

Hello how are you doing today
i always loved this song but the song has way more meaning after going through a ton of trauma in my 26 years i can picture different parts of my life throughout the lyrics.
My prayers go out to Rodney Atkins and his family, just lost their 19 year old son in a drowning accident , my heart goes out to them 😞
Cynthia McDaniel
hi
it wasn't Rodney Atkins' son, Elijah, that died.

This song deserves more likes
first of all, it needs more views

This song has had a special meaning for me since October 2011 when my husband and I lost just about everything due to a financial jam we got into. :D April 2015 we paid it off six months early. Thanks Rodney Atkins, we got through Hell!!!!!
God bless u
Mostly the lyrics though.
same here.
I have stage 4 metastasized: colon cancer and this song really helped me this week when they told me I was declining. Life has been hard for me for many years. I try to find the blessings in everything. I looked up this song and added it to my Cancer Fight Songs playlist. You can been for that this song is one I will be playing for awhile, I'm sure
praying for you.. God gives you healing!!!
This guy is just simply amazing!!! Keep rocking out and do your thing!!! Keep bringing the hits and well keep on listening!!!! Much RESPECT and love!!!!
this song saved my life
Just seen Rodney in Festus MO last night and he was great. Man of the people! A night I’ll never forget!
When country music was actually country.
amen!
Lol
+Nikki Clark Are you trolling? This isn't true country. It's country rock. True country is closer to folk and bluegrass, like Johnny Cash.
+aarwonable cheez country rock? Lol no. Try Sam Hunt for Country Rock
This song speaks to me....Been through hell ,pure hell but still here standing by the grace of God...
Is it just me or does this song get better every time I hear it? This will for sure be one of the few real classics from this decade of Country.
Yes! I thought this was just me
It’s because country music is very honest, close to the heart music. It’s music that tells stories of life and people dealing with life. And it’s because there is a connection to faith and love and family in so much of it.
Love this song. It was there for Me @ my lowest point in 2008. Been going thru a rough patch again & it's still getting Me through!💞💕💝
My family and life are in ruins I need prayer and support I'm in need of it
I had this in my head at the hospital, I was there for suicide. Then when got in the car it was playing from the beginning. What a miracle. It helped me not crash my car.
Mr. Rodney. You have no idea what this song has and still does for me. Thank you
Just turned 44 and there's a good possibility I won't see 50. This song always makes me smile.
One of my friends from high school lost her father suddenly this last Tuesday (it's Sunday November 1 as I write this comment). She (and I) had just started college (at different colleges), but neither of us seemed to expect this. Her family's going through hell. Please pray for them.
I love this song. I only discovered it recently and have been playing it a fair bit since! Thanks
😢 atleast not as bad as before
Your so strong God be with you ❤
This song came out when i was newly out of the military suffering from injury and PTSD. A very dark time in my life....this is one of the reasons i did not succumb to the darkness.
I’ve never been a fan of country music, but this is one of my all time favorite songs. None of that fake stuff about beer, trucks, and dirt roads, just a down to earth song with a good message. Love it.
This song is so uplifting to me!!!
Man I needed this today. Been my theme song past few months. Thanks for this.
I hope that things are better for you.
Just heard this on the radio. Not a big country fan but this song, I loved the lyrics. Now one of my favorites
Thank you Lord my God for always helping me when I stumble or fall.
Ellen Dunlop
You are welcome.
Dead End Not necessary.
Matthew Wolf
Why are you speaking such bullcrap?
Matthew Wolf
Keep being a little bitch, I am not going to bother reading your bullcrap rant.
Hey bud. let people believe what they want to believe.
This song and "Find out who your friends are" are my favorites!
Lol...I just listened to that one before coming here.
Perfect song for what I've been going through lately! LOVE this song!

Cody Arbogast yessssssssss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"Use the needle of your compass to sew up your broken heart."
One of my favorite lyrics ever.
When I was being bullied in elementary and middle school, my mother played this song for me on full blast and on repeat. I will never not like this song. One of the best tbh
Because that’s how I feel. Thank you Rodney and everyone that gets it.
This song is the story of my life
