I grew up on a dairy farm - my brother is raising his children (ages 9,7,5,2)on that same farm. Teaching them to do dangerous things safely is an all-day-every-day task. It’s the same for you letting the kids explore and learning how to do it safely! Kudos to you guys for helping them know their surroundings! Love watching your journey!

Yes! I had 3 sons & a daughter…my stance was “you can hang off of the side of a mountain…as long as you do it safely & with the proper instructions & gear”…scout leader said that isn’t the mindset of most of the mothers. Oh well, their loss!

We got a flat tire in our rental car when we drove that road in Glacier. My mom and I started walking up the road to find help when a truck pulled over and warned us about a bear straight ahead. Thank God they saw us stranded and pulled over to help fix the flat with equipment they had. Ranger showed up right when we fixed it haha. It was quite a memorable experience!

When we visited Glacier we stayed off park at Hungry Horse National Forest. A short drive and beautiful, no where near as crowded. Hate to admit to you we didn’t have to wait for anything…shuttles, boat cruise, hiking drop offs. Took a tour on the red shuttles via road to the sun . No smoke….perfection.

My son used to have the same problem with shoes! We had good luck with wide and extra wide widths from Stride Rite. There isn't a brick and mortar store near us anymore, but you can still order online.

Same for us! We also have luck with “wide toe box” styles. Definitely can’t just go to Walmart and get our kids shoes 😅

I went to glacier national Park last year. It was so much fun, but yes, the roads and the buses suck, but it was still such a beautiful place and the Ranger reviews at night with all the information and the walks so beautiful thanks for sharing it with me again. You guys are the best, God bless

We were stationed at Great Falls for four years when I was in the USAF. We were able to enjoy Glacier, before it was “discovered” for three seasons of the year. We have pictures of Tick Falls flowing full and just through the bottom. We revisited it with our sons when they were small and they were forever hooked on the Rockies. Two Medicine is our favorite campground and the lake has the best skipping stones to be found anywhere. Thank you for the memories!

We did a motorcycle ride with about 100 other bikers a few years ago. Started out in Kalispell, did Eastside, Canadian border, and came back down on Westside, in August, gorgeous weather in Kalispell, but rain, sleet and snow in the mountains. Glorious and scary day!!!! Loved seeing the clouds from above them instead of below!!!

Live just north of Glacier near Waterton Lakes National Park in Alberta. It’s beautiful too. We used to drive over Going to the Sun Road in Glacier every weekend to get to our cabin near Kalispell. It was a lot easier to travel but it is sooo busy now. You’ll love Lake McDonald on the East side. Water is beautiful and so crystal clear.

Hi Marissa, I have been watching JJ since he was a baby and I noticed he was barefoot a lot, you need to get him earth runners or just barefoot shoes in general so he doesnt kick his crocs off LOL the bare foot are much wider exactly how our feet are supposed to be. In Amercia we wear shoes that are so tight its not supposed to be like that. Great episode, you guys are awesome. Watching every week.. Maybe we will see you on the road sometime best always, April Wright

With the crowded roads, the 21 ft length limit and the tight parking it sounds like a good place to tour on my motorcycle. I was there several decades ago but I really don't remember much of it. Keep the good stuff coming guys and give the kids a hug for me.

We just returned from East, West and North Fork-Pole Bridge adventures to Glacier. Yes some of the roads are crazy. The one to many glacier was just ridiculous. Good road then pothole road then good road again. One of the park workers told us it must be for crowd control. Just crazy bad road. We were used to the gravel roads as Kentucky is full of those but that many glacier was something else. This was one of the most beautiful trips we have been on and I can only imagine how it would be camping there. We enjoy your channel and adventures. Be safe!

While you were camping at Many Glacier it brought back great memories; we had intended to cook our meals at our campsite but after we accidentally burnt the first breakfast we ending up eating from the store every meal after that lol. First, question for Marrisa...where is all ya'lls hats especially when hiking? You should be protecting your head from the sun. The St Mary's side is harder to navigate. That will be our next trip. We went to Apgar entrance and did the Red Bus tour to Road to the Sun. It was SO AWESOME! It was worth the cost. My brother and I loved the east glacier side of the park. You guys had a great spot near swift current motor lodge. We actually hiked 🚶‍♀️ to red rock falls. At the trail head on the other end of the motor lodge parking lot, we met a native Blackfoot Indian. He and his wife were hiking to red rock falls. They asked if we wanted to go. It was an epic hike, he lived in st Mary his whole life, his grandfather worked on railroad and lodges in park. As we hiked he was like a scout showing roots on the trail 👣 bears 🐻 had eaten , moose 🫎 tracks, we even seen a lynx, a black bear. And mountain goats 🐐 on a cliff above us. We told Donnie we had missed the double boat ride from dock Nathan mentioned across swift current and Josephine to hike to Grinnell 2mornings in a row as we waited for someone not to show up for the boat. So we decided to hike to the Falls. We got to the Falls, and told us you guys want to continue to a glacier. Donnie took us to swift current glacier, it was a beautiful hike alot like Marissa hike to iceberg lake. Really enjoyed your last couple videos of the park. We went in 2018 when Two Medicine was FCFS…we drove from the west side all the way around to be there for 7 am, with fire visible in the trees as we drove. Scored a spot which was magical…but the GTTS road was shut at the top for the west side fires. Went again this year, staying in Apgar…the GTTS road was snowed in. 🙄 Someday we’ll hit it just right! PS the JJ shoe episode was hilarious.

Cool to see Glacier Park again. I used to go down from Alberta on long weekends sometimes a long time ago.
I would highly recommend each adult have a large canister of bear spray in a holster on their hip while hiking in Glacier Park. You are in grizzly country. I did a lot of hiking alone in grizzly country in the Rockies in Alberta/BC before bear spray became available. But I never hike without it now, even in black bear country, but especially in grizzly country.

Oh my gosh!! I did see you!! Seemed like we were following each other all over the park. Just always saw you from a distance or drove by you. Very smoky during that week, and hot, but still beautiful! Next time we hope to say hello! We should send you some coffee. Lol ;)

If it makes you feel better, I worked at Swiftcurrent Motor Inn for a summer (1979) and only used the buses to see the other Great Hotels…and once for along the Going to the Sun road. Mostly we hiked.
Where you’re at is the best starting point for hiking.

Had the same issue with my son when he was that age(he's 21 now). Only shoes that worked were DC Shoes. The ones with velcro. Not cheep but they were worth it.

When my son was small (now 48) his feet were as wide as they were long...literal squares. We could only find one pair of shoes, a Nike, that was really expensive at the time. He wore that same size shoe, wore out at least 2 pairs a year, for 4 years!!!!

We were in Glacier last year for 2 weeks; 1 week each on the west and east side. Did quite a few epic hikes and rarely saw
wildlife 🙁 We decided on one of our low key days to head to Two Medicine. What a gorgeous area and not a lot of the crowds!

What is the parking like at apgar visitor center? We have a red bus tour at 130 pm. I’m trying to figure out what time we should set to arrive? I know in the morning it can be busy, but not sure how bad parking is at noon.

    • @LessJunkMoreJourney
      @LessJunkMoreJourney  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

If you arrive early enough parking shouldn’t be an issue.

It would have been so fun to meet up with you guys. Ah next time. Of course maybe you guys bring the smoke ;-) the park is the same as its always been, but the traffic is unreal anymore. I wish i could have shown it to you just 20 years ago.

I was the one about barefoot shoes. The crocks are a good substitute. It was something I learned in passing. But I wanted you to know that what you learned by experience is a good option as well until you can do better.

I have an extremely wide foot and have found new balance is a great fit for me. They alsomake children's shoes in wide widths but are a little pricy considering your child's feet grow quickly.
