It's time for a grand adventure on one of the Philippines best islands: Siquijor! Located in the country's Visayas region, the Island of Siquijor was once called "Isla del Fuego" ("Island of Fire") by the Spanish, and it's definitely a gem of a destination that is still largely undiscovered by most travelers in this part of Southeast Asia. Join me for this in-depth tour of the many sights and wonders that Siquijor Island has to offer, including picturesque jungle waterfalls, historic churches, mesmerizing underground rivers, coral reefs filled with vibrant marine life, pristine white-sand beaches lined with coconut trees, and so much more! Trust me, this is one comprehensive exploration unlike any other. For Filipinos and foreign visitors alike, this is sure to become an incredibly popular tropical paradise right here in the Philippines!

Stunning travelogue, very well assembled, unobtrusive background music when appropriate, and some of the most beautiful sights that humans can experience. A close friend (years ago) hailed from nearby Bohol and often spoke of the Chocolate Hills in that region, but I don't recall hearing about Siquijor, so this was a most pleasant diversion. Thank you so much for this. You are living the good life. Enjoy it!

Siquijor Island... the best well kept secret anywhere in the Philippines. I was born and raised in the sleepy town of Lazi, albeit lived in the US since many moons ago now. But I have never parted ways with my beginnings. I still maintain a little "hut" in the "Island of Fire" and I do visit as often as I can. Thank you Nate for showing the world, a glimpse of the true idyllic life in and images of our far-flung little Island. I have never been as proud and as much, realized how pristine and beautiful "my" Island really is, up until I saw this clip. The wonderful tour speaks for itself. Magnificently done indeed.

Hi Nate, sorry to have missed your recent livestream and Premier for this video as well. Thanks for this great documentary of Siguijor Island. Looks like you did a great job of covering the famous Caves, beaches, churches and resorts that are part of the Island. As always your video narration, filming and editing skills were top notch. Really enjoyed the underwater sanctuary footage with all of the beautiful colored fish and Sea Turtles. Seeing the White Stone churches and hearing their history was fascinating as well. Nate, again great video and looking forward to your future content.

A few years back, people from Luzon, the rest of the Visayas and Minadanao, no one would dare go to Siquijor due to its unwarranted reputation BUT I'm soo glad that the island has found its niche as a bucolic, peaceful islabd. So now, a lot of people want to live therr but I hope the oeople of Siquijor will orevail and protect their environment and heritage!!❤And wow, those caves and underground springs are amazing!!

For many, many years, Siquijor Island and its people have been the butt-end of every negative talk and false tales by most everyone all over the country. As people, we have been ridiculed, looked-down upon, scorned and laughed at, for our culture, our ways, our accent and even our names. As humble as we are, instead of fighting back, we learned to roll-with-the-punches. We rode along and took everything as a pun on jokes. At times though, one could only take so much, so to stop all the nonsense, a threat to put a "curse" on one, would always do the trick... sometimes even an apology. Times have changed. People now, know better. Siquijor Island have remained idyllic and pristine. We as 'Siquiodnons" are as proud as ever and there was never a need to prove ourselves. Today, words have spread... "If you want to visit Siquijor Island, bring U.S. Dollars because that is the monetary unit there." And for the curious... is "Barang", "Paktol" and "Kulam" still being practiced in Siquijor Island? Who knows??? www.flickr.com/photos/41070995@N06/albums/72157622124752044

There are no large Department Stores, nor Malls of the big-City types, anywhere around the Island. Except for canopies of tall trees, there are no skyscrapers either. There are no traffic lights, nor flashy neon lights that light up the night life. There are for the most, a few smaller version of a Grocery Store, several Mom-and-Pop stores, and a few smaller franchise operated businesses and Gas stations. There are however many good places to eat but most are run as part of established Resorts or smaller Hotels. One can arrange a stay for longer periods at "Home-Stays", a private house for rent much like AirBnB, anywhere around the Island. Much of the busy businesses are concentrated in the towns of Siquijor, Larena and San Juan. The rest, Lazi, Maria and Talingting are more of a bedroom community. For the past ten years or so, the tourism industry has brought life to the Island but its infra-structure of all kinds are still at its tail end playing catch-up. At the same time, the Islanders are cautious about over-development and instead preserving its eco-system lest it be overrun by the industry's sudden influx of visitors that it can not accommodate. It is after all, a far-flung Island... away from it all.

I've been island hopping in SEA for 45 years (we were in Boracay in 1984 when it was just a handful of bamboo huts) and have been living on the beach in Mexico for the las seven years. My wife and I spent seven weeks island hopping in the PI the last December and January. Ended up in Coco Groove in Siquijor and never left until are scheduled flight force us to leave. Coco Groove is the ultimate tropical island resort.

Growing up 40:40 in Dumaguete in the fiftiest and sixties we were told to avoid going to Siquijor because of witches and sorcerers. Your video disproved the rumours. You promoted the island better than the tourist bureau. Looking forward to visiting the island thanks to you. You made a top notch video. GRATEFUL!!😊

Always in awe of your travel vlogs of the Philippines, my native land. I went to college in Dumaguete but never had an interest in visiting until 3 years ago after living in Florida for 25 years. I wished I had done it sooner. It's not a big island but truly is a gem and lots of natural beauty. I am very impressed of your content, narration and organization of your vlogs. You are such a professional and everything you have outlined in this vlog are very informative. Keep it coming. Thanks for all your preparation and professionalism, Nate! More power to you!
