OMG, just hanging out on the pink carpet with the sweetie pies, glass of wine nearby as always, other booz closeby on the shelf, LOL Kelly Swift is the Chihuahua Queen
Hi I’m getting a chihuahua puppy this weekend but I don’t know if chihuahuas need and extra things besides the basics like a crate, food, bowls for food and water , collar and leash etc. we just decided to get it today and I’m kinda stressed 😩 can you please help me out. Thanks!
OMG!!! I'm scared for you. OK, let's sort this out. First off, buy the basics as you said, crates (I prefer 2 that can fit together), Bowls, a soft bed (maybe a cuddly blankey too) and a healthy food (I feed mine only Life's Abundance: www.buylifesabundance.com), potty pads, AND, do not forget Nutrical. Pay special attention to her shot record and don't let her go outside until 2 weeks after her last puppy shot. Puppies are extremely vulnerable to Parvovirus before they've received all their vaccinations. The Nutrical is important in case her appetite becomes diminished which is VERY COMMON during the transition from their first home to their new home. Everything will be new to her and she'll need time to adjust and bond with her new family. During this time, keep a close eye on her eating. She needs to eat a couple table spoons every couple hours (depending on her size). I recommend giving her a finger tip full of Nutrical before bed every night and again first thing in the morning. Hopefully the person you're adoption her from is reputable and has socialized her well and taken care of her shots, etc. Let me know if you have any other questions and happy puppy adoption 😍
hi, i found your channel after doing some research about chihuahua's. I want to know if the soft spot on their heads will remain into adult hood on deerhead chi's. And if so, does is bother them, hinder their development and such. The reason i ask, is because i am getting a chi puppy soon.
Hey there and thank you for your question. The open fontanel is quite common in Chihuahuas into adulthood and for their whole lives. Some Chis do eventually close up but it's quite common for the soft spot to remain open. As long as the open fontanel is a normal size, it should not be cause for alarm and will not cause any developmental issues. You will just need to be aware of the soft spot and make sure he/she does not hit her head on anything (though, hopefully she wouldn't be hitting her head ever, even if the soft spot closes up). Before you take your puppy home, I would just feel the open fontanel with your fingers to make sure it's not too large. Also, watch the puppy walking to be sure he/she does not have hydrocephalus. This happens when the fontanel is too large and causes water to pool on the brain. This isn't a common condition but it can happen. Signs of hydrocephalus would be 1) The puppy is much smaller than his/her siblings. 2) The puppy walks sideways or backwards 3) The puppy is wall eyed (eyes go out wonky to both sides) and there is constant watering of the eyes and nose. If a puppy displays 2 or more of those symptoms, I would be alarmed. Many back yard breeders do not know the signs and might try to pass the puppy off as a teacup and try to sell her for a higher price, when really, it could be a sick dog that will need major medical help and could possibly die. Keep in mind though, that is the rarity and if your puppy is the same size as his siblings, and if he walks normally and has a normal sized soft spot, he should be fine. Hope that answers your question.
@@SweetiePiePets Thanks for the information! It was very helpful. The lady that has the puppies is a good breeder, she never tries the teacup thing, as she says its deceitful and after all chi's are tiny enough as it is lol.
Geena E thank you so much. Yes they are little apple heads and I think they’re so cute too!! 🥰 their little noses are so flat! ❤️❤️ I really have to catch them playing with each other because it’s so adorable. They’re all wobbly and clumsy at this age and they let out these tiny growls and barks 💕 If you’re looking for a sweetie pie for yourself, you can start on line. What state do you live in?
@@SweetiePiePets Thank you! They are the most precious! I am in Denver, Colorado. Just started to get interested in adopting an applehead. Your videos inspired me to the idea. My husband is not super excited about adopting a dog but he will get warmed up to the idea. I love your fun sassy personality and Chihuahua knowledge.
Geena E awe, ☺️ thank you!! I hope my videos help to spread the joy of chihuahuas While at the same time sharing information. So once you’ve done all your research and you’re sure a Chihuahua is the right breed for you and your husband, the next research I recommend is to find a local breeder or rescue with a good reputation. There are a lot of scammers out there so be very careful and make sure your sweetie pie comes from an organization that pays attention to socialization.chihuahuas have a bad reputation for being yappie, ill tempered dogs but unfortunately that is usually their owners fault when they behave that way. Being the smallest breed of dog they have to be on high alert for their own safety. Also they are an extremely loyal breed and tend to love one single person above the rest of the family (whoever holds them and ffeed them the most). That protective nature can turn into aggression if handled incorrectly. I need to do a video on this because it something I have a lot of passion about. Anyway, all that to say you really have to do your research before you decide on a particular organization to adopt from. I like this website: www.puppyfind.com because you can search by state and because people can write a review so you can go through and read what previous buyers have to say about a particular breeder. Good luck to you and happy searching 🤗
