Listen, Pink Horrors are the chaos daemons transport. It just brings specifically blue horrors, which is about the same percentage of the daemons range that all of the units the rhino can bring of the SM
It may sound weird but I actually haven't seen an Impulser irl nor ever cared enough to look photos of it. I thought it was just a more elaborate/futuristic Rhino, I had NO IDEA it had a freaking pickup flatbed, I'm rolling right now. I really feel like kitbashing a couple of marines with banjos and stick them to an Impulser with stickers on its rear bumper.
Most of Imperial and Chaos would pass just for having Terminators. Guard has Ogryns, and Admech has the Ruststalkers. There's probably a Chaos Daemon equivalent. Orks have Mega Armour Nobz, T'au have a choice of Stealth Suits or Crisis Suits (but Crisis suits are vehicles now for some reason). Idk much about Aeldari or Drukhari, but Nids would just submit Warriors.

The working "real" Rhino at GW HQ is just an M113 painted in Ultramarine colors and symbols, with fake extra smoke stacks on the side. And now I can't help but believe that there's a Rhino out there named "Gavin" because Mike Sparks's insanity fits right in with the Imperium.
The F-150 Impulsor comparison is perfect. largely because the only reason F-150s look like that is the increase in cab size. The bed has barely changed. There are tiny little Toyotas from like, the 70s, with the exact same size bed. Its insane.
chimera kind of looks like a soviet BMP. It feels at place on the frontline of a battlefield, and its ability to provide fire support to dismounting troops while also being durable enough to resist small arms means it makes sence in an army full of squishy meatbags. The taurox looks like a regular ass truck. Why would it be on a frontline.
@@exoticbreadstick8661not a huge fan of the Taurox since it should have been a half track or just a truck not a weird H track thing in my opinion, but it would actually make since for motorized/mechanized infantry riding it to the front or a command staff using it to get around quickly like a German half track or the American Jeep respectively while the vehicle itself never or rarely actively fights because well…truck. 40K being a war game and every unit needing to be able to fight is what hurts the Taurox as it’s forced to fill a role it really doesn’t make much sense for given over IFVs exist already.
@WilhelmScreamer there are some pretty decent wheel kits out there for the Taurox which really bring home the MRAP feel, Zing Industires and Victoria Mini's spring to mind, though if you want to stay GW for some reason a Goliaths wheels will probably fit with some effort and plastic card.

Ya'll were already one of my favorite Warhammer channels, having Digimon world music(took me till adulthood to finally figure out how to properly raise digimon in it) just boosted ya'll into the stratosphere for me.
Our only target is an episode by Friday morning, Thursday then became the norm, and now the editor is crushing himself to try for Wednesdays. I can't promise the Wednesday releases, but if the episode is ready we'll be releasing it.

Just a heads up, turning Pick-ups into war machines is an extremely powerful and cheap way to create and mobilize a monster force. They are called "technicals". Look up the "Great Toyota War", where in Chad and Libya armies confronted each other, one with massive stopping power (Mi-24 helicopters, 6 airplanes, 300 T-55 battle tanks, multiple artillery and 8,000+ soldiers) and a much smaller force of Chadians (you heard it here folks, a literal army of Chads) with essentially nothing but some rifles, and a fraction of their size. They won the entire war by converting the Toyota Hilux (roughly 400 of them) into fast, all-terrain vehicles with greater mobility and the ability to re-position, out-flank and out-maneuver the Libyan army, with essentially Anti-air or light anti-tank/heavy anti-infantry weapons platforms on the back (think autocannons). The big turning point was when in a single 18 hour battle, the Chadians managed to take beat an army of 5,000 Libyan soldiers, killing 800+ and destroying 92 T-55 battle tanks, at the cost of 18 soldiers and 3 Toyota Hilux's. Wars win off of functionality, never aesthetics! When you min/max, it doesn't matter if you're driving a truck that literally can't even stop an AK-74 round from going straight through the entire vehicle, even the engine block, and killing somebody, because you're never going to be hit in the first place. :) Making this comment because of 13:50 I heard what you said! I hate pick-up trucks, and I especially hate pick-up truck drivers (on the road), but I would never insult the god given design of the Toyota Hilux. (This is a true story, feel free to look it up! The Chadians won the war, in the sense that they were finally able to bring the war to a close and peace talks to ensue as the Libyans were the ones trying to take their land)
@@De_La_Evo I mean the Technical is functionally similar to chariots. Lightly armored, fast and equipped with a ranged weapon. Able to carry a small amount of troops exactly where they need to be and get back out fast. Even modern special forces guys have been known to bop around in very lightly or even basically unarmored dune buggies and trucks with half a dozen machine guns, TOW missiles, recoilless rifles and grenade launchers bolted to them. Depending on the terrain a bunch of well coordinated guys moving fast with long range weapons can punch way above their weight. Especially with future gubbins like melta guns, lascannons and cyber-eagles or servo-skulls. Not for every foe but hey for kicking the hell out of uppity rebels, criminals or feral xenos, a truck with a big stubber is still a good deal.

You know you gave the devilfish a B, but you gave the wave serpent a D. Even though those two models are practically the same thing. I'd argue that the wave serpent should at least get a C, because all the craftworld tanks use the same basic design.
The impulsor is just a toyota pickup from the 80's discovered during the unification wars. It's like a dreadnought truck. It's still powered by the same engine.
The worst thing about the impulsor was seeing the interior and thinking "damn glad I don't have to waste time painting this!" then realizing it's open top and having to spend extra hours on painting and weathering it
So much of the Orks range was made to mirror the Space Marines only much kooler and orkier, and it's always nice to see that acknowledged in these videos
It says a lot about the crew of poorhammer that they have Digimon PS1 references but on the mention of a box we didn't get a Firaeveus Carron pop up on the side of the screen.
Third edition rules had rules for making up your own tyranid monsters. I made a giant monster that could carry 12 genestealers and had a blast cannon. The fact that tyranids dont have a transport at all is a huge dropped ball, one that 17 year old me recognized without even thinking about it.
I love this video, the chaos and Tyranid descriptions had me laughing. someone needs to tell GW to make a transport for the ones that are missing, especially tyranids. by the way you could have graded the tervigon.
16:20 5-7e Guard players remember being able to shoot 5 people out of the top. It's got better guns than the Rhino, you can actually just about match a couple loadouts of Razorback between the turret and hull mount. It's weapons are all pretty much anti-infantry though and not tank-like.
I’d love to see you guys rank every factions Guardsmen. Their cheap, T3, bad save horde infantry. Give space marines that “Did Not Submit” grade before Kill Team: Chapter Serfs comes along and gives them an auto A.
coincidentally in 10th the Rhino bans every primaris armor type and the impulsor the old-marine armor types. They got rid of the previous keyword though so it's all fine suddenly.
I’m sure a billion people have already said this, but the Rhino is based on an IRL US military vehicle; the M113; colloquially known as the battle taxi. The thing is literally just a metal box with tank treads and a 50 cal. bolted to the top. In addition, it has a modular design, allowing you to attach ridiculous crap to the back of it (ie the razorback) for added absurdity.
To push back against the Clear Eldar bias, the Wave Serpent I think embodies a rule about the rhino that wasn't considered, that it in no way looks like it can hold 10 dudes. The Wave Serpent looks bigger than you think because of the fins, but in reality its storage is like 2/3rd the side of the rhino.
Had a great time listening to you guys while painting. I can even forgive you for knocking Razorbacks. If only GW would let me have my Las-Plas back...
It's kind of wild seeing that Chaos literally just had the same vehicles as the imperium, given how vastly different the designs are for Eldar and Dark Eldar. Even other imperium factions have visually different stuff.
Massive s/o to the editor for slipping in that clip of an M113 during the Razorback section. Also, bear in mind, the real-life "box with tracks plus gun" fought in Vietnam & Iraq...
The only transport that does the “we only carry 5 man squads” right (other than the Starweaver) is the Aeldari Falcon, and that’s because Eldar have the various Aspect Warriors, which do just fine in 5 man squads. Especially if they have a Falcon backing them up. It still isn’t great, but there is at least support in the list for 5 man infantry squads.
The Devilfish in 3rd was a REQUIREMENT to take with Pathfinders. Pathfinders had Infiltrate, so the Tank they took had infiltrate which meant the couldn’t be shot until they were spotted, but the fact the Devilfish had the Tank keyword meant they were INSTANTLY spotted. The devilfish actively made the unit they were transporting worse..:):p
Honestly surprised you guys didn't refer to the Impulsor as the Toyota Hylux of the Space Marine arsenal when you brought up the comparison to a pick-up truck. It is after all the kind of vehicle you could cobble together in a junkyard to use as a cheap all-in-one transport and mobile weapons platform.
When they said having the black templars in the impulser i just looked at my dedicated black templar impulser with crusader squad. It does work out well thought.
For thousand sons the rhino are the tzaangors. Being free box filler is such a crucial rhino trait that should get at least a D.

The skorpius doesn’t have firing deck because the skitarii aren’t tall enough. That’s why they added the guy with stilts.

The impulsor is just a toyota pickup from the 80's discovered during the unification wars. It's like a dreadnought truck. It's still powered by the same engine.

The worst thing about the impulsor was seeing the interior and thinking "damn glad I don't have to waste time painting this!" then realizing it's open top and having to spend extra hours on painting and weathering it

Orks is the definition of "can I copy your homework?"
So much of the Orks range was made to mirror the Space Marines only much kooler and orkier, and it's always nice to see that acknowledged in these videos
Some of the armour plates on the trukk are literally just cut off a wrecked Rhino.
I actually like the impulsers open back it's cool to put a model in it but while it's transporting
The Impulsor almost feels like the sort of thing we'd have if 40k Bloodbowl was a thing and it just kind of leaked into our world from that timeline.
I mean to be fair to Rhino...most irl troop transports look like metal boxes with threads or wheels

It says a lot about the crew of poorhammer that they have Digimon PS1 references but on the mention of a box we didn't get a Firaeveus Carron pop up on the side of the screen.

Third edition rules had rules for making up your own tyranid monsters. I made a giant monster that could carry 12 genestealers and had a blast cannon. The fact that tyranids dont have a transport at all is a huge dropped ball, one that 17 year old me recognized without even thinking about it.
I love this video, the chaos and Tyranid descriptions had me laughing.
someone needs to tell GW to make a transport for the ones that are missing, especially tyranids.
by the way you could have graded the tervigon.
I was gonna say Tervigon might be a better fit, carries a brood of termagants (like a very restricted transport) medium tough with a shitty gun.
16:20 5-7e Guard players remember being able to shoot 5 people out of the top.
It's got better guns than the Rhino, you can actually just about match a couple loadouts of Razorback between the turret and hull mount.
It's weapons are all pretty much anti-infantry though and not tank-like.

It does something good and cool. Objectively that makes the ranking worse because the Rhino does no such thing

I’d love to see you guys rank every factions Guardsmen. Their cheap, T3, bad save horde infantry. Give space marines that “Did Not Submit” grade before Kill Team: Chapter Serfs comes along and gives them an auto A.

The primaris keyword is gone. First borne and primaris can go in any Imperium vehicle. Only the armor type changes how many you can take
coincidentally in 10th the Rhino bans every primaris armor type and the impulsor the old-marine armor types. They got rid of the previous keyword though so it's all fine suddenly.
@thepoorhammerpodcast didn't even realize that, I gave my Rhinos to my son to play in the dirt outside, haha.
I’m sure a billion people have already said this, but the Rhino is based on an IRL US military vehicle; the M113; colloquially known as the battle taxi. The thing is literally just a metal box with tank treads and a 50 cal. bolted to the top. In addition, it has a modular design, allowing you to attach ridiculous crap to the back of it (ie the razorback) for added absurdity.

To push back against the Clear Eldar bias, the Wave Serpent I think embodies a rule about the rhino that wasn't considered, that it in no way looks like it can hold 10 dudes. The Wave Serpent looks bigger than you think because of the fins, but in reality its storage is like 2/3rd the side of the rhino.
elves are 1/3 the size of a marine, so it is deceptively adequate, hehe
Now I want to 3d print a tiny dodge ram emblem to stick on the bumper of my impulsor (even though I'll never use it)

It's kind of wild seeing that Chaos literally just had the same vehicles as the imperium, given how vastly different the designs are for Eldar and Dark Eldar.
Even other imperium factions have visually different stuff.

I literally didn't realise the impulsor was a pick up truck until this video so their deceptive marketing worked on me
The only transport that does the “we only carry 5 man squads” right (other than the Starweaver) is the Aeldari Falcon, and that’s because Eldar have the various Aspect Warriors, which do just fine in 5 man squads. Especially if they have a Falcon backing them up. It still isn’t great, but there is at least support in the list for 5 man infantry squads.

The Devilfish in 3rd was a REQUIREMENT to take with Pathfinders.
Pathfinders had Infiltrate, so the Tank they took had infiltrate which meant the couldn’t be shot until they were spotted, but the fact the Devilfish had the Tank keyword meant they were INSTANTLY spotted. The devilfish actively made the unit they were transporting worse..:):p

Honestly surprised you guys didn't refer to the Impulsor as the Toyota Hylux of the Space Marine arsenal when you brought up the comparison to a pick-up truck. It is after all the kind of vehicle you could cobble together in a junkyard to use as a cheap all-in-one transport and mobile weapons platform.

When they said having the black templars in the impulser i just looked at my dedicated black templar impulser with crusader squad. It does work out well thought.
